Not exactly chat, but it's been said that "a picture is worth a thousand words" ...
Goodness @SaskiaKC that is very philosophical. My personal happiness daily comes from the wellbeing of my little family (including girl cats) and people who matter most to me. My Diabetes happiness comes from trying my best to control it while having something nice to eat at the same time but that is very much aided and abetted by all of you good folks on rhe forum. It would be a lot harder without you all and I love the bantz. Long may it continue. I think of us as a Diatribe.
Edit: maybe best to “offer” rather than “issue” a cat or dog
It most definitely counts. Was it good?
I agree. It was especially irritating when we stopped on the autobahn and the only food sold was all either sweet bakes, muffins (I love muffins) or good ingredients wrapped up in (delicious looking) bread baguettes or rolls. If I can’t eat it, then it should only be old stale stuff and it should definitely not look so appetising. Then I try to remind myself how I reached this life controlling T2 condition.
You forgot Dennis@SaskiaKC I love the idea of a happiness meter. Mine would be a very big number - I wake up happy every day these days. In no particular order this is why
1)I have a lovely family who all get on and laugh a lot.
2)I’m retired.
3) I’m 2 years post cancer diagnosis and still alive
4) I have a puppy!
5) I have diabetes which has led me to this most informative,
interesting and entertaining group of wonderful people.
6) I have a puppy ( I know I’ve already put this but he is worth a second mention)
@PenguinMum I love the Diatribe name!
You forgot Dennis
Wishing you a very happy special birthday. Hope you enjoyed the day.9.9 today
At least it is still in single figures
The sky is blue and the sun is shining.
I am now officially 70 years old today!
It’s only 6:30 am but I still need to figure out how to do a feather string painting for my art group this afternoon...so off into the garage now to paint...take my cwc.
Am taking strawberries and cream to art as a birthday cake (!) so I can share with everyone.
Have a good day

Wispa rode her Vispa
to play tennis with Dennis
who lobbed lobs at Bobs
which made Daisy crazy
which Churchill took ill
enough to harry Harry
for being a bit Plumpy
and a bit grumpy
and barking at Popeye,
"Stop! I say, cat! Did
you see Sid
and Trixie?"
While down in Dixie
the KittenCat sat
and said "Enough of that!"
Happy Birthday @gennepher hope the art class enjoy the strawberries and cream. Well it seems that I have to adjust all my rates on my pump as the meter of doom is still playing dirty tactics with a 14.2 this morning, now this is after a heavy training session last night which should have resulted in a hypo during the night. But not last night so it must mean my readings are a bit awry at the moment and chase the rainbow I go! where it stops no one will know! Don't you just love diabetes, it's got to be the single most frustrating condition going no two days are the same (sorry about the rant) Right everyone have a marvellous Thursday and above all enjoy it.
Take care everyone.
A quiz:
Where's the Best Place For a Pub?
https://www.buzzfeed.com/remeepatel/your-pub-opinions-will-tell-us-your-order
Oddly enough, my result was a drink, not a location. Odder still, not a badly unhealthful drink - pinot grigio.
Great before & after pics, and that lawn makes me want to take my shoes off and run through it.
Thank you very much Debs.Wishing you a very happy special birthday. Hope you enjoyed the day.
I was sorry to read your recent posts. What a traumatic time you are having. Very glad your tooth problem has been sorted. There is no pain like dental pain. I used to work in a dental emergency dept. For you to have to suffer for such a length of time really is unacceptable but at least you are out of pain now.
What a day that day. Having an opticians appointment prior to dental one.
What strength you have. I always think that from your posts. You have an excellent optometrist. He really knows his stuff. Very thorough and this should give you reassurance that you are in good hands. You can find out so much more on the subject on here and the internet in general. It's a mine of info. And the support on here is second to non I find.
I hope everything settles down for you now and you can relax a little.
Hope the feather string painting went well and your pupils left you some strawberries and cream!
I tend to agree, when I first started this WOE I was making all kinds of lc cakes and puds, but don’t bother that much now - trying just to let my sweet tooth fade away.
I did feel a bit sad yesterday evening watching a program about the Ritz hotel, it mentioned their legendary afternoon teas and I thought ‘wow! I’ll never have afternoon tea again’ seemed like such an innocent pleasure for all those years ( not that I ever had one at the Ritz)
