What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning all, firstly I must apologise for being missing in action. I have been busy with work since my third eye surgery and as such just visited, lurked and not posted. Work have decided that as I'm "High Risk of dying" (their exact words) from COVID 19, I must work from home for the foreseeable future, goodbye, don't let the door hit you on the bum on the way out! So am now ensconced in the living room "working" from home! Not too bad if I'm honest, I have been battling the meter of doom quite hard lately with readings being in the high range, I think its because I'm not training at all at the moment so adjustments to my insulin regime is needed and I don't want to bother the nurses at this crazy time.
I hope that everyone is well and coping from the isolation imposed on us in the Diabetes army (if you wish to isolate that is) we are doing the "Shielding" thing for my wife as she is on permanent Chemotherapy for Crohns disease and I don't want to risk her catching this virus, but I must say that I quite like the isolation and not having to "people" at the moment (I totally understand it is hard for the vast majority but it's my view) I will send hugs to all of those that need it and massive well dones to everyone else.

Take care, and importantly Stay Safe
Great to hear from you. Hug for bg control issues and Mrs JP's need to shield but winner for your whole attitude and the love for Mrs JP and humanity in general that post showed. I know you will take care of Mrs JP but maybe give the nurses a little message?

I'm taking good care of Mrs P, I'm loving not having to "People" but I know its not for everyone. I will probably call the nurses just to see if the adjustments that I have made to my Basal insulin is right or if I have to be more aggressive with the adjustments.

Stay Safe

good afternoon all :)

3.8 today so I had some cheese and a couple of mr gee's grapes to be on the safe side ;)

we girded up our loins with hand sanitiser and wipes then out for our weekly shopping this morning, pretty quiet on the whole and stock was quite good, followed by much scrubbing of hands etc :sorry:

We'll take mum's shopping over later probably when we've unloaded and wiped everything down. Mr gee has decided to put his prescription in a little early this time, there is a box in our local village shop from which they are collected twice a week so we will use that and see how it goes :)

Hope your day is treating you well :)

I love your latest @Muddy Cyclist and look forward to seeing your 'more abstract' version
@gennepher your app is producing some innovative stuff :) looks like an interesting way to change things up.

today's catch up art -
no 1 is a quick seascape, Daler Rowney on craft card, you will see a lot of seascapes ahead I'm, afraid, it's in my local environment ;):bag: managed to avoid the 'blob' in the sky this time :joyful:

no 2 is also Daler Rowney paint, on A sketch paper I think.

Made me laugh particularly as I'd forgotten what day of the week it was and had no realisation this weekend is Easter weekend until I heard someone mention Good Friday was a couple of days away.

Now to all those would be gardeners out there, can I say I have just seen my first tomato seed sprout. :) Haven't a clue what it is, these were old seeds I harvested a couple of years ago. Possibly yellow or could be a red beef tomato or even green. It was such a delight to see something sprouting hope it doesn't kizzen up because its really hot in the sun room this morning. Broccoli going nowhere at present, the additional stump I put in water I left a floret on, trying to see if it will flower and produce seeds. Don't know if it is feasible to bring the seeds to maturity in this way but we will see. Apparently broccoli seedlings can be cropped for salad.

These are all experiments but great fun. Now anyone tried to grow frozen peas? I know steepy peas work fine. @SlimLizzy you just don't know what you have started, I am now on a mission to look after my babies.

Forgot to say a really rubbish 5.8 (after yesterday's 4.9) today. Got the munchies again and had a chicken breast at suppertime. All I could find that was easy (already cooked and wasn't carby.

kizzen - ROFL - never heard that one. Made my day as I was just wading through this “Of causes”, he explains, “some are complete and primary, others auxiliary and proximate. Hence when we say that all things come about through fate by antecedent causes, we do not mean this to be understood as ‘by complete and primary causes’, but by auxiliary and proximate causes”. (Cicero, 62C) . I think it probably means if Cleopatra's nose had been shorter you wouldn't be in a very long queue for shopping delivery mate. Full article here for anyone else with 3 months to spare https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/stoicism/ Thank you @DJC3 for taking me there

Love the seascape and the beautiful rose @geefull

@geefull thank you for the paintings, I never tire of seascapes. I have a few of Watwrgate Bay on my walls here painted by Cornish artists and brought back after some lovely holidays.

I said yesterday that I would tell/show you my answer for an overcrowded window ledge for salad greens and seedlings.

my answer is my shoe rack.

which you can see in the photo.

The plants on that were on that window ledge have been temporarily/permanently banished to the bathroom floor.

I haven't worked this idea out properly yet.

Popeye likes that space to sunbathe on. But I can fit another shoe rack this end of the window ledge. I have books on it in the garage, so the books need a new home.

I could do the same for the kitchen window.

But a bit of working out to do yet. But thought I would post my idea.

Might have it sorted for this weekend...

Brilliant. Are you free to run a small Island for a while since you can solve problems and communicate clearly?

we are all well Sidekick Sid and Princess Trixie are ok and loving us both being home. The operation cured one problem but gave me an other, but due to the ongoing crisis I won't be seeing the specialist anytime soon, and I totally get it so am not worried about it. Plumpy is looking as handsome as ever!. Make sure that you are keeping yourself and your family as safe as possible.

5.8 this morning and all's well :)

I shall be away for a while, need to self isolate my mind as there's far too much going on for my autistic brain, going into logic isolation with my aspie colleagues. Stay safe ;)

Just to add re. Zoom security:

While there is always a potential for third parties to monitor information it should be viewed in perspective. The issues with Zoom are related to corporate conferencing where sensitive information that could benefit rivals or give an edge to unscrupulous people and not to where Billy is chatting to grandma. Whilst we like to think we are important to the world of cyber terrorism we are generally not. Common sense applies, don't share with a third party what you don't want the public to see, but for simply staying in touch with friends and loved ones there is no problem. The concept that end to end encryption will protect you is usually false unless it is multilayered using VPNs etc and even then, a dedicated hacking team will open that tunnel pretty quickly.

This forum is a wide-open data stream that you use daily to chat about life, no encryption, no protection at all and all posts searchable by non-members ;)
A wise decision to distance your mind from the unpredictability of the situation we are in @OldButBold. Glad you have support from your colleagues. I wish you continued physical recovery and peace of mind. Your contributions to the forum will be missed. Take care and come back when you feel ready.:)

We're okay locked down for the next couple of weeks or so...Harry as some competition we have two new kittens desperate to be their mate that's a work in progress...such a shame you couldn't continue getting your eyes done but as you say there is an ongoing crisis...yes Harry is a handsome brute bless him...when he does come in Lola the smallest kitten keeps him in his place...take care John of you and the family.

I had never heard of Zoom until last night, when I happened to see a news story about it. The story was about its lack of security and users' privacy. I Googled some online articles about it.
Are you sure it is providing you end-to-end encryption?
Very good point. If its good enough our boris its good enough for me :-) thanks Saskia though, food for thought.

Your seascape is lovely. It made me feel a bit nostalgic as I do miss the North Norfolk coast. Your rose picture was really good also.
