It is 10 weeks since I stopped taking the statins which elevated my daily levels to between 12.1 to 21.1 and my HbA1c to 76 but my fbs remain between 10+ to 13+. It's a mystery! I have sent my fbs results to a GP following a telephone appointmentI with her a while ago and was expecting a response from her but instead this was followed up by a phone call with the Pharmacologist who was supposed to do a medication review. All she did was ask me to monitor my blood pressures 4x/ day for a week and to refer me back for an appointment with a Practice nurse to discuss my diabetes. (My blood pressures have all been in the normal range as I expected). I have a face to face appointment with a practice nurse this afternoon so hopefully she will give me some positive advice. The saga continues! I have never been anxious about my diabetes before but am now concerned that damage is being caused by the ongoing high levels, especially as I have non alcoholic fatty liver disease. Creative is a very large tomato on my food plate cut like a flower, but it still looked like a big clumsy tomato. So took photo in Laboscope. Now it looks like a flower...

Thank you for your reply@ianpspurs. I had a good face to face appointment this afternoon with a Practice nurse. She listened to my concerns and took notice of all the data I had provided in response to requests a) from the doctor I had spoken to on 18/5 and b) the Practice Pharmacist on 5/7. She couldn't understand why the doctor that I delivered my information to hadn't got back to me herself after commenting that due to my raised levels I needed a medication review. (It was the receptionist that made the appointment with the pharmacist as she was the person who carried out medication reviews. In retrospect I think that was a misunderstanding as the pharacist didn't address my diabetes. Instead she asked me to test/ record my blood pressures 4x/ day. When I questioned this she arranged for me to discuss things with a nurse). The nurse I saw today explained that, as a precaution they usually wait for 2 high HbA1c results before increasing medication. She sent a message with all my handwritten info to the on- call doctor for further advice. I had a call shortly afterwards to say he'd advised me to make an appointment for a slightly earlier HbA1c test at the end of this month. If it is still high they will adjust my medication. That gives my body an extra 2 weeks since stopping the statins on 5/5. At least now I have a plan of action instead of feeling like a ping pong ball passed from, nurse to a doctor, to a pharmacist, to another nurse and back to a doctor. Oh dear! Ramble away - I think the take away message is to write notes (make a copy) and after consultation, hand notes to the doctor/nurse/pharmacist - My GP tends to ask me what I think should happen - then after we finish laughing ….
 
Good morning everyone, yesterdays post has gone missing - never mind. Visit to the physio went well and next appointment set. Exercise regime in place. Another recipe for a low carb, whole wheat loaf - psyllium husk - so no. Brother in Law round today to fit some new doors - five. Current doors and hinges removed yesterday and door frames painted in preparation. Mrs Miggins has decided that the charger for the cyclonic dust spreader needs moving into the hall cupboard but there is no socket. I have found a candidate socket on the downstairs ring where I can take a spur - you know, you think that wires and screwdrivers are things best left in the past. But no. My membership of the British Psychological Society lapsed years ago so I can’t even certify myself, never mind a new bit of wiring.
Art bit - I had added some shading yesterday (the missing portrait of a tree) - but yesterday added a hint of blossom. Have a wonderful day. Don’t forget to watch the CH4 programme about the Missing Enid Blighton script, Five Practice Telling Fibs. Best drink some koffy.

My levels usually drop before lunch to around 9. I only have a small salad for lunch without carbs but my levels creep up again by bedtime. ( I do have a snack sometimes at around 8pm as we eat our evening meal around 6pm). I'm convinced the statins elevated my levels. The advice from my GP today is to make an appointment for my next HbA1c at the end of this month to give my body enough time to recover from the stains then review my medication if necessary. Good that they have brought your next HbA1c forward @dogslife. It is very puzzling what is going on.
Statins can be problematic for some people. After only 26 days on them I had severe muscle damage which the consultant said would take 4 years to repair. Blood sugars did go haywire but I assumed at the time that it was because I couldn't do any exercise. I could barely crawl up the stairs. I was on insulin so had to increase both the Novarapid and lantus.

That house will soon be like Trigger's broom.:D @dogslife despite the twists and turns it does seem as though things may be moving in the right direction. 5.2 this morning. Mr K has taken Poppy to the vet to have a tooth out as she had an abscess. She is 12½ so hope she will be OK with the anaesthetic.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen, I’m sitting here thinking about what or who shall include in the and bit, perhaps a 3 toed Sloth is apt given the shenanigans going on in the Houses of Parliament enough of that I cry.
Today a reading of 8.3, well below my hospital given level of 10.
How’s your morning going so far? Naked sunbathing is not to be recommended without factor 1005 suncream. Have you folks googled any rain dances yet? I think a few of my gardening friends have.
Anyway, I have a life away from electronics as have we all and I want to get on with mine, before Mrs J starts a) talking at me and b) hands me task lists.
Stay safe, stay cool and remember to apply for your hosepipe ban before the rush.

Thank you. Forgot to say earlier my half price salopettes arrived - good down to -20c. Possibly not a great idea to test them on Sunday through Tuesday. With my battery heated jacket, borg lined hoodie, 82 layers and the Brucie Bonus for fuel bills I may just stay warmish at least through autumn - or Fall as "we" say.
