What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning everyone from a bird chirping start here in the dark and dangerous north. I have just been out and filled the bird baths, one on the ground and the other a sort of mock fountain in cast iron, and checked our little Gingko trees. We have two, in pots, which came from Westonbirt Arboretum. A gift to my mother 30 years ago when she was there painting. Nothing much going on here yesterday apart from hiding indoors or in the shade outside. @gennepher - first parade service and inspection on those fans.
Art bit - the start of some more trees. Have a great day if you can - I shall finish my koffy and await orders.

Yesterday, whatever that bigger animal was that entered my back garden, I found out later in the day that he had knocked over my black rubbish wheelie, opened all the bin bags, and scattered everything. I was not pleased to be in 34 deg C trying to pick up scattered bin rubbish. That was me finished for the day.

Last night I made sure there was lots of water and scattered 1 kg of my cheaper (!) cat biscuits in the front garden. I was trying to prevent the big creature/s (possibly a family of badgers) from trying to break into my back garden. Anyway, when I looked out this morning it had worked. The big creatures had stayed in the front, and eaten all those cat biscuits. They had better realise the front garden diner is only until we get rain and then they can dig their own food elsewhere.

The smaller creature however, had dug up some plants in my back garden, it was looking for bugs and worms, so the dug up plants have been popped into water until later...

Water pressure was low yesterday, so no way of having a cooling shower. Shower won't work if water pressure is low. I don't have a cold water tank in the attic. It was hard keeping cool. My temperature rose to 37.1, not good, so opted for a one person wet t-shirt competition. That brought my temperature down to a much better level.

Temperature in my garden in the shade at 7:10 am is now 25.1 deg C. I am not looking forward to the rest of the day.

Just a photo this morning for creative. Not the best photo, I took it from a distance as not to frighten Jade off, she is on the left feeding. I had gone out to feed Midnight but he refused to eat anything. He sat by the food bowl and waited. Jade came charging onto the garden, and collapsed in a heap by the wet cat food bowl. She was obviously feeling the heat. Midnight encouraged her to eat and she ate two bowls of cat food. Midnight was watching Jade in a concerned manner, so I went to get my camera, to take a photo because it was so sweet him letting Jade eat first. But he saw me! I gave him some food, so he has now eaten also.

Right, collapse time for me. I am doing nothing today.apart from cuppa teas and iced drinks. My brain is already fried...

Yes, first thing fill those water baths/fountains @dunelm
A good grove of trees...

Good morning everyone who has made it through their own they call me Mr Tibbs event. Airforce One visited here overnight but Joe didn't come in for Koffy. Not removing the ceiling fan from above our bed now seems like a great idea. Hugs for those who found sleeping difficult and will find today difficult. Today will be a Jalfrezi level event in Suffolk.. Hottest place in the UK yesterday was in this area. Officially above mild even for me.. Do heed the warnings, stay hydrated and in the shade. @dunelm thanks for the art and good man for topping up the bird baths. @gennepher thanks for the lovely photo, hug for the extra workload yesterday and the continuous fight against "the odds" Stay safe everyone. How fascinating will a crawling grandson find pedestal fans and where to hide their remote controls without forgetting? As you say about other issues @jjraak, first world problems. Groceries incoming midday all the way from MK. TTFN.

I remember, you were going to get that ceiling fan removed!
Thanks @ianpspurs for the compliments and kind words.

4.8 this morning. @gennepher my brain is also fried. We did the dog walk a 5am and it is already hot.

The air con was wonderful yesterday but the visit to the lovely pub across the road for my dinner was not so good. There was a group of people, not youngsters, at one of the tables who were having a reunion of some sort. Two of the women had obviously drunk rather a lot. They screamed with laughter constantly. The noise was ear splitting and it went on and on and ruined my normally relaxing visit.

Maybe the heat made me feel more grumpy and less tolerant than usual.

@ianpspurs - of course that's what I was experiencing yesterday - first world problems.

Hugs for your not so relaxing visit @Krystyna23040
Some people get raucous and excessively noisy in hit weather...

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and those sweltering in the heat.
Another 4.3 on the bloods this morning, calculation required coupled with a large dose of guesstimate.
Congratulations to both @gennepher and @jjraak for documenting such a positive attitude to your struggles, it must serve as an example to others that they are not alone, that’s enough sermonising others are better at it.
Here in Tilehurst Towers today will be another day of indoor tasks keeping out of the heat and trying to keep out from under Mrs J’s feet.
Stay safe, stay cool and stay hydrated add extra ice cubes to your gin and tonic.

Ah yes @gennepher - raucous was the word my fried brain was searching for when I wrote my post. I think that you are right - it was the hot weather making them excessively noisy.

I have a long break again today because my Tuesday 1:1 is worried about her ponies in this heat so she has cancelled her 1:1 so that she can hose them down this afternoon. I shall be finding one of the padded comfortable chairs at the church and relax in the cool hall and read instead of going into a hot and maybe noisy pub.

The air conditioned hall sounds a brilliant idea.
Definitely should be peaceful @Krystyna23040

Look after the Ponies and the pounds will look after themselves.:D

One just has to keep trying @jjraak
Plateaus and apparent dead ends crop up quite a bit, and then I'm stuck for a bit.
A change of attitude, change of position, altering the frequencies of the devices, approach the next session with the device with a goal in mind for that moment in time, and so on. The impossible can be done, but it is tiny steps of impossible.

30 years ago I had all the health problems I have now, and I wondered how I was going to make it through to the following year. Would I still be able to drive? Would I still be able to live independently, and so on. They were very real valid fears.

Well as you can tell I am still here. And I had this conversation with my daughter when she was here. And I said that I had been badly worried 30 years ago that I wouldn't be able to carry on coping with my disabilities and restrictions. But I am. I have to adapt. I do feel very overwhelmed at times. That feeling comes most days. But I have to deal with it, and turn it around on its head.

Are you really sure you are coping asks my daughter. I am still here, I reply, and I go food shopping myself, I still drive, and so on. I have limitations but I find new ways through them. Yes I am coping, I said to daughter.

As you on here know, I do have my off days, I do rant on occasion (or oftener!) and the rest of it, but it is life.

And then I said to my daughter, I should be able to do another 30 years. Her eyes widened. Well if you are sure mum? Til a hundred she asked? Yeah, why not, I replied.

By the way mum, my daughter said she had visited an old uni friend, and her bedroom was 'cosy' like mine, and I told my friend, this is just like my mum's bedroom. 'Cosy' being an euphemism for an untidy lived in bedroom with everything in it, and the bed being a workstation of everything all around me, including my hand massagers, shoulder massager, and foot massager...

The sky is lightening here.

Another cuppa required...

My fans have all died a death - they need refilling with water and ice, and fresh battery power packs...

You have a good day, and keep on with that massager...
Indeed ....we are not dead until we're fully buried...and even then people better check twice .;):D

Life, in some way goes on, as you so vividly examplify.

Cantankerous, stubborn...whatever.

All badges of honour for those with the inner steel not to go quietly into the night

(Not the original, but I have no shame is saying this, still gives me goosebumps..)

Subtitles available, Genn.

And thank you for the good wishes :)

Hug for the start of that day...
And the impact of it plus the heat

Lol was your humorous descriptions
And the one contestant wet T-Shirt competition had me proper chuckling. :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

A nice way with words, evocative when required, descriptive to walk the reader through the moments ..with a large dollop of good ol humour, to bring us back to a brighter place .

Stay safe
Stay cool
And a big hug to midnight & all the other inhabitants of "Genns Garden of Tranquility"
