What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning all. It is bright, sunny but cold here. I'm shortly off across The Fens to be infused which is neither painful nor it seems giving me side effects. I'm also very much hoping for it to continue for a long while. Have as good a day as you can and unfortunately for you I may be back later.
Good luck.
Hope the day goes well.

Do have a imagine now, of you in the RR, mirage like in the heat haze, racing across the eastern plains like Lawrence of fenrabia..... :hilarious:

Fbg 6.1

The new ginger cat stray is still here...
On the wildlife nighttime camera it shows he will not leave his spot on the swing all night, not even for the bathroom. He seems determined to hang on to this spot.
He doesn't seem to get much sleep with all that busy nighttime activity going on. And when you can't see him on the video, he is tucked in that spot by the wind chimes.
Ghost Cat, the large ginger tom visits, and so does Jade for her cat biscuits on the other end of the swing. I put those cat biscuits there for Jade originally so she could snack while sitting on the swing all night!
Foxy Loxy is mooching around all night from sunset to dawn.
This garden is his nighttime home!

The new ginger stray looks as if he is staying, but he doesn't have any cat friends yet. I will name him Merlin.

Creative was done in ZenBrush3 on my tiny Pixel 4a phone screen, and then finished in iPainter, there is no Procreate on Android :(

Very small cats (maybe too small), but I am experimenting still...but I can see them because I know where I put them!

Dark and sleet outside...

Another cuppa from my eternal flask...

Have your best day ...

Edit: I can see both 'hidden' cats on my tiny pixel screen, so maybe a success to do the painting on my Pixel phone?

Well that ginger is certainly Tenacious in making that spot his ....

And there's a moment at 1:40 ish, where it looks like another ghost cat thinks its on the catwalk, maybe modelling the Gingers new away kit for tenacious's approval..
.. ?

Back home safe and sound after the infusion which, as usual, was administered with care by a pair of rushed off their feet nurses in an outreach clinic in The Fens. Thanks for the good wishes. @alf_Josiah @dunelm @gennepher @Annb @jjraak - if I missed you out sorry. @jjraak no RR today as it was so cold the door wouldn't close in time to travel safely so the Sportage swayed and bounced through the dips, potholes and hollows. @gennepher thanks for the creative. I didn't spot any exotic animals today. Next up is the school run which was chuffing cold yesterday (20+ mins wait between granddaughter and grandson's classes) but I was blessed with a priceless gift from a very proud granddaughter who was so proud of an achievement. Never was the phrase bursting to share more apt. Moments like that are inklings of a truth logic and reason can't explain. They are why I want to take this innings deep into day five.
Edit: Makes more sense when it reads can't explain.

My fbg this morning was 6.8.

Have a follow up blood test booked for this afternoon if it has not gone down DN is talking about intervention with some sort of meds but not metformin as no longer can take it due to CKD.
Hope the blood test goes smoothly and interventions aren't needed. Hug for the CKD. Thoughts and prayers with you.

I am not sure which ghost cat that is. It may be the big ginger tom, but it doesn't walk the way the big bully ginger tom walks.

There may be 5 ginger cats, but none of them appear in the day time @jjraak

Blood test went well bit of a struggle to get to the surgery even though it's not far walking is difficult at the moment should get result soon.

Pulled something in the top of my L.H.S pelvis at lunchtime and got excruciating pain. Only pulling my pants up in toilet at time! D.
Hope pain has eased take it easy and rest up a while.

Is Metformin bad for kidneys? I was at stage 3b for a while, but it got better and the last time anyone mentioned it, I was at 3a, so I supposed, nothing to worry about. But there was never a mention of Metformin - amongst its other faults - could be bad for CKD. No idea what my situation is at the moment - nobody bothers checking any more, so I just do what I think I should.

Hope it soon eases off. It is all too easy to hurt some muscle or other when doing seemingly normal things. Maybe a little heat would help it.

@Annb
If your eGFR is below a certain percentage then metformin is contraindicated as it can put a strain on the Kidneys this you would have to discuss with your GP if you are concerned.

My Gp decided that metformin for me was not a good idea your GP may decide differently.

NICE guidance regarding renal function state the following

"in adults with type 2 diabetes, review the dose of metformin if the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) is below 45 ml/minute/1.73m2:
Stop metformin if the eGFR is below 30 ml/minute/1.73m2
Prescribe metformin with caution for those at risk of a sudden deterioration in kidney function and those at risk of eGFR falling below 45ml/minute/1.73m2

benefits of metformin therapy should be discussed with a person with mild to moderate liver dysfunction or cardiac impairment so that:
due consideration can be given to the cardiovascular-protective effects of the drug (1)
an informed decision can be made on whether to continue or stop the metformin"

My eGFR was in the low 30's so my doctor decided to take me off them I concurred.

Edit to add prolonged high blood sugar is also bad for the Kidneys so it can be a case of swings and roundabouts.

Thanks for that information. Metformin has never been discussed with my doctor at all - they just leave it all to the diabetes nurses, who probably are unaware of the issue I had with my kidneys. At one stage my GFR was 32, but it went up again to 40. At that stage doctors stopped following up anything and it seems to be up to patients to tell doctors when something is wrong. Without blood tests, that's not so easy. As far as I am aware, all's well though. I also have liver cirrhosis, which is checked now and again with ultra sound. I did, for a short time, come off Metformin because there were too many unpleasant effects but went back on it to try to control BG.
