What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning all from a why make late May so cold? start here in L.A. Swipey seems to have hyperinflation. I have no in date strips, lab bloods won't come in before it runs out so I'll write off the 5 days. Between the last 2 sensors I just about got 14 useful days worth. @dunelm thanks for sharing the finished art in all its final glory. Enjoy your trip and wandering around. Vac pack bags are useful - never used them for trips away but then I'm not keen on trips away. @jjraak great interview, enjoy Greece which is somewhere I do like but Cyprus, especially one hotel in Paphos, is more me. @gennepher thanks for the creative which I liked very much even though you felt it lacked that certain something. Soft play party for granddaughter yesterday was a joy and a reminder of how the bar for these things has been raised for certain demographics. Not a jelly or ice cream in sight, fresh fruit, vegetables, popcorn (plain?) - dinosaur shaped sandwiches. Also struck me just how much of a bubble/silo many here, in what has effectively become the Cambridge/London commuter belt, inhabit. Spanking new academy and Leisure centre, acres of playing fields and green fields all around, loads of desirable new houses to buy 5 miles from Ely - 1 hr 9 mins to KC by train, A10 straight into high tech/biotech part of Cambridge or on to Norfolk coast, easy access to Stanstead, reasonably priced public school (Kings,Ely). Ely also has Starbucks, Waitrose, gin shop. The market sells octopus, artisanal bread and locally grown veg. All very near each other. The Ole Fen boys would not recognise the place. Gentrified? Have a great day.

Good afternoon Ladies, Gentleman and Neanderthals and those who identify as a savoy cabbage, well one must learn to be inclusive or so one or 6 of me, me’s and myself are told.
Yep full internetty privileges were restored this morning, please don’t mention other stolen incursions onto the internetty in the last few days.

Blood sugars over the past week have been between 4.0 and 7.3 with an average of 5.1 including this mornings.

To those travelling have a safe journey.
Stay safe all, remember life is a one way journey best lived for the moment with as much humour as possible, now if you don’t mind I’m going to find someone puritanical and ruin their day by making them smile.
Aren’t you glad my internetty access has been restored?

8.2 this morning. We had a lovely relaxing day yesterday and I ate too many carbs (25g) and only did 5K steps so I am not surprised at my fbg.

I got a delivery of my 100% Montezuma chocolate which included 100% chocolate with peanut butter. On their website they call it Peanut butter nutter which quite accurately describes me as I do love peanut butter. Not surprisingly I ate far too much of it.

You urgently need a plan B if that was plan A. but good to hear/here there and everywhere (some Fab 4 songs were vaguely bearable) from you again.
Ahh, pre Sgt Peppers the fab 4 + 1 George Martin were not of much interest, but later that changed. Shall we let it be?
I was more a “ hunting tigers out in India and the canyons of your mind “ fan, these days light opera and plank floored ( Pink Floyd ) are likely to get played, Puccini is not Uncomfortably numb ing hehehe

Plan B is more en flique. Sg Pepper was massively over hyped, as were the Beatles. Post DSOM The Floyd didn't do much for me. Puccini? Never the same after Italia '90, sleep problems apparently.

Nice to see you again Alfs..
@alf_Josiah

Weather quite good this week but a little warmer would be appreciated.
Outside we are assaulted by the sound of the sheep in the adjacent field who think we are farmers attending to their every need when we go in the garden.

I keep threatening to start tidying the garden. I was fortunate last week when a friend from church strimmed and mowed my eight week uncut meadow of a garden.

Ooh nice idea.

A few years back I think I cracked my packing.

Saw a whole rake of vids showing "how to pack"

So I now roll any clothes up, place like for like in plastic bags (supermarket ones get used here )
Flatten and tape tightly.

Fits all my kit in nicely, & bonus is on a arrival I know what's in every bag, so packing everything away & finding an outfit for that first wander round is a piece of the proverbial.

Madam's ol' school, so i sit & have a cold drink, while she melts down, muttering "I'm sure its in here somewhere...aagghh "

Smug ?
Moi....?

Couldn't possibly say..;)
One thing you learn to do in the military is to pack kit so that it doesn’t get wet and you know where everything is. It spills into touring on a motorcycle - just enough and include some soap and a length of cord for a washing line.

Good morning everyone from the country where a lack of vowels is made up for with extra letters ‘L’ and ‘W’ and has spread all over road signs for the confusion of the bewildered. Mind you, I don’t think that the Welsh language is spoken as much in this corner of Wales as it is further up the coast. The important thing is that the place we are staying in has a decent cafetière, which I am testing right now. Art bit - something I did a couple of weeks ago. Hope you all have a pleasant day. Best get back to this koffy.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentleman and those who possessed skills to do mundane tasks but no longer have the physical attributes to carry out those mundane tasks.

Blood sugars this morning were 5.5

Here in Tilehurst Towers it’s a busy ish day.
Mrs J’s car is being taken for repair, it is really my car, but because Mrs J reversed said car into a brick pillar, yes I know reversing cameras and proximity sensors work, but one has to use them. The car can be hers.

Also we have Mr Plumber here replacing toilet pans with taller or long drop pans as I call them and a few taps. The taller pans are for those of stiff knees.

Shortly plinky plonky practice will take place, but Mr Plumber might be a music lover therefore ear plugs shall be offered.

Stay safe all. Remember bring a smile to strangers face it costs you nothing.

I suppose it's the same in the merchant navy and that's why Tom was so good at it - although it has to be admitted he had a larger baggage allowance than the military would have given, which is why he could take a huge accordion with him.

Ah, an interior this time. Makes me feel a bit warmer already (it is very cold and grey here in the Hebrides today).

BG at 3.30 am was 11.5. By 6.30 it was 8.9. Just had breakfast with insulin, so it should go down a bit.

A baking day today - another small function in Stornoway tomorrow - and I am making some low carb scones to take with me and experimenting with some cookies using a banana as a sweetener. If they work, I'll take them. If they don't I'll chuck them out to see if our resident starlings will eat them.

I am fascinated by the pair of starlings nesting above my kitchen window. They are so acrobatic. To get into the hole they are using as an entrance to our roof overhang, they have to cling to the roughcast beside the window and then launch themselves to the side and up at an angle to the hole. But to get into the hole they have to fold their wings, without hanging on. They are amazing. And they do it seemingly hundreds of times a day, bringing food for their brood. This year, though, we must get some nesting boxes for them among the trees and close up the holes because they do make an awful mess of the path and the windows. We have about 6 or 7 pairs nesting in the various ventilation gaps that lost their covers over the winter. I don't begrudge them their cozy spaces, but it's difficult to keep the place clean. We always leave the montbretia plants to die back because the dead leaves make such good nesting material but it is getting a bit out of hand. I'm not sure if starlings are protected or if I am allowed to evict them from my roof if I do provide nesting spaces for them.

Morning all from a not what was supposed to be in the tin start here in L.A. I'll skip the fbg update as Swipey now throws out some possible numbers along with the frankly risible. Today is the tenth anniversary of my parents' funeral so I'm off to visit and tidy their grave as well as checking on those of several relatives. @dunelm good news on the cafetiere and deciphering the signs. Where we are headed folk can slip in and out of English and Welsh in the same sentence - disconcerting. Thanks for sharing the latest art. @alf_Josiah don't be hard on Mrs A J - or the plumber. @Krystyna23040 the dog walk sounds wonderful and enjoy Mahjong first (interesting autocorrect). Have a song which I chose to be played as the coffins entered the church - seemed to fit what happened perfectly. Have a great day
