Yes. By the time fire brigade arrived my BIL was thinking of jumping out of the window, even though there is concrete underneath. He could hear the flames crackling and the stairs collapse. But he had stuffed the duvet at the bottom of the door and that apparently gave an extra thirty minutes for the firemen to get to him. Very, very scary indeed. Totally terrifying I should think.

Oops forgot my brothers birthday on 21st. FBG 4 7
Mr Slim wants to go to UK in two weeks. Am still concerned about his damaged ribs. But I have told the Fench Anglo friendship group to find another venu for the Afternoon Tea we were going to host on the 14. 09.
Made some chutney.

he was not given the option by the immigration service to renew his contract. This was cos of the outgoing government, and the new one wasn't in. He applied and got it.

it's been a chore discovering my new box for my box and cos Mrs L is quite reluctant to learn, the phrase is, you got it, you sort it. Lovingly of course.
The speaker to get channels and films, and surprise, surprise (No! Cilla is no more!) And her accent was put on!
The box does understand me, mostly. Is a great function, but it is quite difficult to sort other channels, and passwords etc, safeguarding for child viewing etc.
Or even Mrs L,
So I've made it easy for her to view her movies and YouTube.
Too much hard work, honest!

Front garden is awash with foliage off the local trees, thanks very much Lillian! (Scaffold tune???)
It's a mess and the very strong winds in the back, nearly lost some of my garden furniture.
It was awful during the night, woke me up a couple of times.
Cricket commentary blaming the breeze on Liverpool more than three times so far.
Sun has appeared but chilly, warming up but still breezy.
A very unseasonably heavy storm.

Took me half an hour to get most of the foliage swept up.
no time for weeding, tidying up or trimming my own foliage in the front garden.
kitchen duties are necessary, get in the back later after cricket before dirty Leeds @ wendys.H

anyone noticed we had all four seasons in one day, some hailstones in that lot last night?

Thank you @ianpspurs for speaking to your neighbour. He has stopped all flights over my village and we have had a really relaxing afternoon :) :)

Sorry, I did ask but my contact said West Suffolk is fine, (specifically asked to come back here and live in this close) Alaska is very good, Japan was wonderful but he draws the line at places with unintelligible languages. :playful:

Took Poppy for a walk around the lovely paths that wind through our village. A little dog, who had escaped from somewhere, ran past us.

After chasing him around I managed to catch him and clip the other end of Poppy's lead on his collar (predictive text - it is Poppy not Poopy).

His collar was very loose and in a split second he slipped out of his collar and escaped.

I searched for him but couldn't find him. So I decided to knock on the door of a house I had randomly chosen to ask if they knew of the dog so I could report it missing.

Before I could say anything they thanked me profusely for returning their dog's collar. He had escaped and had just returned minus his collar.

How lucky to have chosen the right house.

Have just seen the photos of the upstairs. Totally horrific - to the point that even identifying which room had been whose is impossible. Only the room my BIL had been in looked anywhere near normal and that was due to the quilt under the door. That door is badly charred. It's a miracle he got out unhurt.

How fascinating! @gennepher. Your nighttime videos show aspects of wildlife behaviour that most of us are possibly unaware of and thank you for persevering with this kaleidoscope. It looks as though you had some fun with it! Thank you for sharing.

That your kidneys are in working order is a big plus @Annb. Were recurrent urinary tract infections the reason your ultrasound scan was performed?

UTIs are very common in women, especially diabetic women, as you will know. Unfortunately there are strains of bacteria knocking around that have developed resistance to many different types of antibiotics, so doctors are reluctant to prescribe courses of antibiotics for any longer than absolutely necessary.
