What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

6.6 this morning.
Got some really good news yesterday - Companies House has at last removed the fake company from my address. I was about to contact then again when I received their email.
Also, I am up to date with the admin. My desk is paper free and I have answered all my emails.
Today I actually have a 45 minute lunch bresk. So a good day today.
Brilliant @Krystyna23040
That was quite a quick resolution considering how long some things take

MrSlim is packing his tools to take to UK. He has been bored during the time it's taking for his ribs to heal. He really doesn't know what to do if he is not building.
The damage to daughters house gives him an opportunity to continue building and he is keen to get on with it. However I am concerned that his long term health condition is worsening. ( no doctors for him - they can't do anything about it) and the ribs are not completely healed. It's a huge task waiting for him and he is likely to push himself too hard.
Raining this morning, nuisance because grass needs cutting before we go, and the strimmer is too heavy for me to use. Too heavy really for MrSlim at the moment,
but he didn't let that stop him. Suffered for it afterwards.
Much biting of tongue required by me.
Have been doing some research on VitD3 deficiency.
Am thinking to buy additional supplements in UK. Not possible here. They put it on health card and would refuse to sell more. But Dr prescribed dose per month. NHS information suggests should have been once a week for six weeks. Followed by lower maintainence dose. This would explain why the current regime is not as effective as I would like.

Taken from NHSWebsite:

Adult loading doses

If you have severe vitamin D deficiency, your doctor may prescribe a loading dose of up to 300,000IU. This can be taken as:

  • 50,000IU once a week for 6 weeks
  • 40,000IU once a week for 7 weeks
  • 1,000IU four times a day for 10 weeks
  • 800IU five times a day for 10 weeks

Maintenance dose

If you've had a loading dose but need to maintain your vitamin D levels, your doctor may prescribe a maintenance dose of 800IU to 2,000IU a day

Lower colecalciferol doses

Colecalciferol is also available in lower doses. You can take 400IU a day if you're an adult maintaining your vitamin D levels
_________________________________________

Reading this 50,000IU once a month will not ever be effective. Explains the rollercoaster feelings, almost like PMS.
Neither will the 2,000IU per day I was offered as an alternative.

Also explains why the pharmacist was telling me the dose prescribed is too low.

Am thinking to take the 2k pill for a month. To see if that is better, but if levels are low a maintainence dose will possibly not be enough. Don't want to be like this for a month.
Overdose can have nasty consequences.
Still unsure of right course of action.
Hugs for Mr Slim possibly tackling more than he is ready for.

And hugs for you on the vit D dilemma. It is difficult @SlimLizzy
You will have to weigh up the pros and cons and how to maintain it. And how to get your supplies once back in France...

There was a low lying smog earlier, but now it's a bright blue skied sunny day.
Temperature is 24 in my back garden.
The DIY'ers sound as though they out in full force.
So, disconnected my sound processor and I now have blissful peace, apart from my tinnitus which sounds like an 8 lane busy motorway...

Creative...photographed my cushion...put it in Kaleider Kaleidoscope...and this is one picture I got...

Have a good day...the best you can...

A black hole with colours! Is this the end of the universe? Love it.

BGs in the 8's and 9's earlier but down a bit into the 6's now. Slept until 06.00 - off and on - in a much more comfortable bed. One problem with it - it is thicker than my last mattress and heavier. I can't lift the edges to put a fitted mattress protector or fitted sheet on it. Had to just use another quilt cover as a bottom sheet last night. All of my sheets are fitted and none of them will be usable with this mattress. Have to have a think about this.

Busy cooking day today, so I have to keep going to get it all done.

Got another random rogue FBG of 8.4, then 7.2!
No idea what is happening.
I'm out of ideas, fasting majority of day eating one meal a day, very low carb.
So diet is good. But could it be the amount of chores I'm doing?
Or the stress?
This was before going shopping with Mrs L, if was after the shop, I could understand it, cos I'm really stressed now, can't stop shaking, I won't say what happened cos it would take a few hours to describe.
It was not fun!

Weather warm but cloudy. No rain. Not much wind.

Morning disrupted by an absolute cacophony of footie people on the footie pitches and youth club.
The four pitches in use from 8.30 till after 1 pm with more tomorrow.
Nice to see but not to hear.

Gotta go.

My old iPad Pro, which I was using before this iPad mini, now is only suddenly only charging to 21% instead of 100%. It was always difficult to charge, being temperamental. Just changed to a different lightning lead. It has the correct plug, and I am now crossing my fingers.
I'll give it an hour, and then if not successful, this is going to be a mad dash in a bit to rescue all Popeye's and my Hearing Dog Meg's photographs, and anything else I will never be able to photograph again...

Anything else can go hang, the important documents can wait. And my internet is playing up in this heat...

Creative ...this of all things was a photo of the fan besides me, put in Kaleider Kaleidoscopes...a pretty one for today...

A nap, then see how that iPad is doing...

I need to Google if I can wipe the info off remotely off an Apple device if it dies on me...I know I can do this with Google/Android...

EDIT: Looks like I have will have lost everything off the iPad Pro. It was 2017 version. Doesn't say much for Apple. It won't charge above 21%.. and if I open it up, it goes right down to 12%, and I have to turn it off immediately. It has a load of trail camera nighttime videos I haven't yet published. It has thousands of photos and art work. Photos of Popeye and Meg, my hearing dog. The list goes on and on and on.
I have just recently (early this year) backed up all photos into the cloud of my iPad 2 (which is still functioning and holds a charge beautifully), but it's outdated for modern technology.
And early this year I backed up photos on my old iPhone.
This iPad Pro photos and videos was to be next...

Sadly for me, I was about to start a new project with the artwork in the iPad Pro, and I was about to get it all out and save it elsewhere...

Good news is I can remotely wipe everything out on this iPad Pro from another device.

But first I need to eat and drink. Totally forgot to eat today, and I will be lucky if I have drunk a pint of water, so I need to make that up...

In all probability it is the continued stress @Lamont D regardless of whatever happened later with Mrs D.
I am not a doc or a nurse, but the way I see it, it is probably more important, given in these circumstances, to eat regularly during the day rather than have one meal a day.
You are under continuous stress with Mrs D, not knowing if or when something unexpected will happen.
That will impact on your readings.
When I am under stress I forget to eat and drink.
I wish I could offer some idea how to help xx

@Lamont D you know you better than anyone else but as a general observation a low carb OMAD doesn't equate with diet being good. It merely equates with being low carb. After a certain period of time some people report that it can be counter productive to fbg levels. If one consumes a day's worth of calories in one meal studies show it is problematic . I'd also say that looking after yourself is vital as a carer. OMAD when very busy or say every other week or once a month is fine, a long run is likely more problematic after a long time - years in your case? - on LC which normally causes people to lose weight. As @gennepher says stress can be the cause of raised bg levels as can tiredness, low level illness or a myriad of other things than carbs. Take care.

Hug for the iPad issue but thank you for sharing the amazing kaleidoscope.

Think I will have to return to Dr. explain how I still feel emotional, fatigued and depressed every months end.
And hope that she will check the dosage.

Thanks, I am totally stressed, angry, so frustrated, so ******.
And I have heard about it all before.
It has been since I got up, a very bad experience today.
A really bad one.
Mrs L was up before me at 3.30. But I got her back in bed. She thought it was mid afternoon.
I got up at 6.30 and Mrs L had got herself a cuppa. I think that is how I woke up.
I made a fresh one but that meant no rybelsus for her.
Then as I gave her, her other meds.
She insisted on getting the meat for Chrimbo meat out to defrost.
Gammon for Chrimbo eve, Turkey for Chrimbo day. Beef for boxing day.
She also wanted the duck out for pops.
Wondering where it all was?
After straightening that out by showing her the amnesiac clock.
I had to straighten the freezer, before ablutions and usual chores first thing.
Then Mrs L wanted to go shopping at 7.30 am.!!!!
However, she had a short nap after another cuppa.
Woke up, went to go out the freezer, but thankfully I managed to persuade her otherwise.
An hour or so later, I told her I was off to the shop.
Went through the questions and asked if Mrs L wanted to go over with her shopping walker?
No!
On the way back with the shopping, Mrs L was waiting for me just outside the garden gates.
We went back the shop, and I think I lost it and am still recovering, whilst also being there to help her with the usual stuff, and I feel I have been a bad carer for her.
My anger, my frustration, with her obsession like conversation over chrimbo and food and anything that can be so hard for me to try and be reasonable with it all.
And of course, Mrs L remembers nothing about the shop, the traffic, the meat, chrimbo and such.
Which is frustrating in itself.

I know why it has become like this...
Mrs L doesn't want Christmas to be here, and it is causing extreme anxiety, and even though, Mrs L knows I do the majority of things, Mrs L believes that she has to help with it all.
Her father died nearly three years ago on boxing day.
And Mrs L has never got over it.

I'm sorry about it all, as usual, and that is why, I'm writing this.

My best wishes to you lot as always.

I'd urge you not to entertain those (bolded) thoughts and feelings since from everything you write you are a dedicated and deeply caring husband. Hopefully what you have written serves two purposes. It helps relieve some frustration by sharing and shows you how contrary to being a bad carer you have managed a series of issues in a way few professionals and almost none of us would have done. Those members who have lived through similar experiences will, I am sure, reassure you that you are actually a wonderful carer.

You have been the best carer possible for Mrs L @Lamont D
So, don't think anything different. You have been through a heck of a relentless day.

Don't forget always write on here. We will always read.

Writing is going to help you, but it is always a black&white record of what happened in a particular day. And it is something you may need to refer back to at a later time xx

@SlimLizzy I agree with @gennepher that you have two tricky situations there:-
Mr Slim tackling too much at the moment and the dilemma over the vitamin D dosage.
