What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Nah it’s the vac pump for the new wound dressing they’re trying out trouble is you can only disconnect it for 2 hours in any one day going to be difficult sleeping with it attached I think but we’ll see bathing a no no but can shower with care hope it works.
I believe you are turning into the six million (?) Dollar guy.

Fbg dunno

I had made plans for today.
Researched where disabled toilets were.

There are apps and stuff that tells you this.

So, this hermit planned a trip over the border into deepest darkest England on to the Cheshire plains.
It was frosty and a bit misty when I set off...

Then I panicked at the thought of going out for the whole day, and going a distance, which I have not done since pre covid and lockdowns. It was the needing the toilet issue and finding one, despite me meticulously planning the day.

My driving was fine. I was happy driving, I enjoy driving, I just panicked over the urgently wanting a toilet issue. I pulled into a layby, sat for a bit. There was a cafe opposite which I've never been to before and I thought look this is not far from home how about just going to this one and then going back home again...

That would be a good option wouldn't it...

Absolutely not I told myself. You are going over the border into England and you are going to the destination you have keyed in on your sat nav I told myself...

I put the heated steering wheel on. And went for the open motorway. The going to work traffic had gone to work so it was a little less crowded than usual, although it was pretty packed with heavy lorries, but the traffic was moving and most of doing 70. There was a huge lorry carrying gravel. His max speed was 50 I think. So I drove behind him. Very unusually all the different turns I needed to take down different roads, he keeps still in front of me and just short of my destination he turned right to wherever he was delivering his gravel...

Just up the road was my destination! A garden centre I used to go with J many many years ago. They had an amazing cafe then. But the cafe area has been completely rebuilt it is massive, but still retains the intimacy of the original cafe with all these little rooms. Even though it has been renovated, it still felt the same place with the same lovely people serving. And it now has a Wi-Fi. I stayed in the cafe five hours!!!

I had an amazing breakfast. I used loads of their Wi-Fi. Then I treated myself to a Victoria sponge which I have been looking forward to for about a year or more... It was delicious but I think that has satisfied my longing (which I know I have mentioned on here) for a Victoria Sponge, possibly for forever now...

There were other people with laptops and stuff who stayed at their tables for even longer than I did... So it was great that that was acceptable and you didn't feel the pressure to leave once you had finished your food.

I will go back again. And they had several very large disabled toilets on their site. I bought some plants, some yellow wallflowers.

I did not get back home until 3:30 p.m. and it is getting dark by now.

I was wiped out when I got home and went straight to sleep.

So my creative...well, it's a little creative, this is a photo of the tea pot, cup&saucer and little jug of milk.

It was nice meeting different people, everyone was very friendly. I had a few conversations with strangers. And that satisfied this hermit's need for interaction with people for maybe a week or so...

Nighttime wildlife video
I had a bit of a disaster here. The trail camera only recorded sections of five to ten seconds instead of three minutes... I have no idea why the trail camera malfunctioned. But this slightly disjointed video was the best I could do with it.

Same vid on
TikTok
BUT THE LINK ISN'T POSTING...so I'll post this and try and find out why...if I can ..
TikTok link won't connect tonight

But last night, I had a last ditch try on YouTube with this same video. It was still troublesome to post but I got it up. And, surprise surprise, it has got 539 views...
So my second link for the video will be for YouTube tonight, if you cannot access Instagram.

Have the best of the rest of your day.

Thank you for persevering with an enchanting wildlife video @gennepher.

I like your traditional tea pot, but what's this? Brewing the nation's favourite beverage with a tea bag!?

Thursday's FBG 4.6 mmol/l on waking at 6.00 am.

I shall have a word with them next time I go @LivingLightly

Good morning everyone on a delicious sunshiney start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. Going all overcast now but nice while it lasted. Had a lovely zoom call with my mother yesterday. We found a great deal of art paper when we were cleaning out her mezzanines last month and yesterday she received some brushes, inks and Chinese paints that she had ordered. So, she is looking forward to painting again over the winter months. I think that she is looking forward as well to a rest from all the Norwegian and Fairisle knitting that she has been doing recently. In earlier times she would happily card, spin and dye her own wool in various natural colors and spend hours on these complex patterns as well as clan Aran patterns but it takes her a long time now. So - a change is as good as a rest to votaries of sofas and beds. Art bit - another red topped house. Stoke your fires and keep warm, I shall make koffy.

5.8 this morning.
Ankle gradually improving. Don't need the Nordic pole around the house and am needing it less in my classes.

Up to now have only been able to do the drawing the alphabet with my foot exercise, but today was able to start the walking backwards exercise and the walking backwards on the tightrope with no pain.

So not bad progress for a grade 2 ankle sprain - probably because (for once) I am being really sensible :)

Had a text from Royal Mail yesterday saying they had been unable to deliver a parcel and to click on a url to arrange redelivery at a cost of £1.99 then the site asked for name address age and so on then bank card details. I then copied the tracking number went on the Royal Mail website entered the tracking number to be told that it was unrecognised so have deleted the text and there was no way I was going to give card details asked for.
Not sure but suspect scam.
Be on your Guard.

It is a scam @JohnEGreen
Royal Mail will never send you a text.
I have an awful lot a of very convincing looking scam texts like this.
There was one extremely convincing looking text and I was expecting a parcel, worth a lot of money.(A few hundred pounds that day).
The postman was due that day with my parcel. And he arrived at his normal postman's time of delivery at my house, with my parcel.

I showed the postman the text..

Ignore it he told me Royal Mail do not send any text out they are all scams.

I get a lot of these he says and I'm a postman just delete them all he said.

But it does make you (me and you) nervous....

Thought as much thanks for the confirmation do have some parcels coming so at first almost fell for it I do say almost any way when there is an actual failed delivery they usually put a card through the letter box.
Going to have to expect more of this on the run up to Christmas.

I'm very lucky in that Alistair is our postie and nothing that arrives at the Royal Mail office for us, in Stornoway, would ever fail to be delivered, so no reason to believe such scams, but there are others out there to be wary of. I just never follow up any text, e-mail or phone call that asks for any details. I fell for one once - never again.

BG at 04.30 - 8.3.
