What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Bad (short) night. Took painkillers about 23.30 last night. I try not to do that because, if I get too sore during the early hours, I can take them then. There has to be a gap of at least 4 hours between doses. But last night, it was bad, so I took them. They didn't really work and sleep was fitful and short. That meant that I got up too early to take another lot of pills and just had to sit and wait. I took them at 03.45 but they haven't worked yet. There is no plan B though, so I'll just have to wait it out and hope it'll go away.

BG was 8.4 when I got up, rising to 10.3 now - and that's just with water and my basal insulin. Bit of a mess today, I'm afraid.

Fbg 6.5

Found this painting of loads of flowers...
So this is my creative for today...

It is absolutely pouring with rain at the moment, and it is very very windy. The plants need this rain.... but there is supposed to be zero rain tomorrow...

Night night
Sweet dreams

What a wonderfully cheering image to see this morning.

Good morning everyone from a bit of an overcast morning here in Harrogate where we are at yet another reunion.
5.9 this a.m. Probably due to food and hard liquor.
Just getting ready for a mooch round the town to get some steps in, timer lock set on wallet - can’t be too careful.
Art bit - who likes garlic?
Hope your day moves in the general direction of forwards.

Morning all from a breezy but fine L.A. where my salmon pink shorts are having an outing - no not THAT sort of outing. Fbg today was a flat 5 but is now (see time of posting) 4.4 possibly due to the wonders of Assam tea. Leaf of course (there was some discussion about tea bags affecting bg). Hug for the pain @Annb and I hope the painkillers work. @Lamont D hugs, thoughts and prayers with you, Mrs L and the family. @gennepher thank you for sharing the colourful creative. I am stiff and achy today after trying several sofas before finally buying a pair to replace the remains of the monster ensemble we have. "My chair" is quite uncomfortable after about 13 years of wear. It is part of an original corner group of 10 which locked together so everyone could watch a film or sport. The whole thing never fitted this modest abode but back then, 6 years ago, I was loathe to buy new sofa. We need to sell or dispose of the old one quite quickly. Have the best day you can I have lots of sport to watch, tea to drink and peanut butter to eat shortly

Have found resistant starch to be helpful, but my diffuculty is MrSlim. His medical condition is helped by white starches, so rice, pasta and of course, in france, bread are always in the house.
I used to make cauliflower rice, happy to eat that, but with only one cooking ring, can't be faffing about. So mostly ready meals at the moment. Carefully chosen, I can manage about 30g carbs per meal.
Tonight we shared a trout, I had one piece of potato, carrots, peas and a green veg purée. Glass of rosé, and coffee after. BG before eating 4.9
I like cauliflower rice - you can get it pre shredded and frozen in the frozen vegetable department sometimes. If im craving carbs I make 'fried rice' with it with bacon, frozen mixed veges etc.

Hope you're better soon @gennepher.
And thanks for all the best wishes they do help you lot.
I need to know you lot are there for me please?
It has been very hard and mentally knackered because of it.
We have been assured by the mental health practitioner, from the Stein centre that a place for Mrs L for respite will be found, it might not be the nearest but because of the circumstances and being monitored throughout it will still be on the peninsula.
Today and a very early start, it was preparing for Christmas.
Yesterday was going home.
Wednesday was money
Obsessions are becoming episodic, and more frustrating for both of us and the family who have been brilliant. Don't know what would happen without them.
It has also become apparent that the change in meds since March has become the problem of the increasing episodes. I have asked again for a review. Mrs L is having an appointment in around two weeks with the head specialist.
Lots more, such as asking the housing to review it's decision about our housing requirements thinking I might have to go private to get something suitable.
Still hitting hurdles with home appointments.
Still can't get my head around Mrs L going into a care home, even if it is for a few days.
And it could become longer. That hurts so much. I think I'm missing her already.

Cloudy, very windy, cool and rain imminent. Horrible out there.
My best wishes to you lot as always.
The whole process of losing a loved one to dementia is incredibly painful and drawn out, and difficult to comprehend unless you have traveled the same path yourself. It's not as if you can say 'I wish this was over', because then it would be which is even worse.
The obsessions are incredibly hard to deal with, and often mean dropping whatever chore you are doing to manage them and keep them safe.
All I can say is that you are not alone and acknowledge how incredibly difficult this is, and how well you are doing.
You are absolutely doing your best, and talking (or typing) to people can be a good way to give you a boost to keep going. We are thinking of you and sending our best wishes.

8.8 this morning

Positive news today:)
The conference went OK. Blood sugars were frankly ridiculous ( from stress -good and bad, and pain) and I was unable to get them under control till the end of the 3 days. My hips managed OK. I had to modify the standard plan and sit at the back and move around, take the lifts instead of stairs, no walking to see shops after hours, eating only close by the venue etc. But I survived and it was good for my brain.

I also am now on the insulin pump. Managed to forget to take the insulin to the pump start session, but thankfully other half could drop it off. It's going well. Some issues to be ironed out, but my time in range, and waking blood sugar are already heaps better. Interested to see what the hba1c comes down to.
I expect my sleep will improve once the pump issues are resolved and there are less alarms during the night!

It's also quite interesting to see the gymnastics the pump has to do to manage my blood sugar numbers. Randomly trying to go high during the night etc (thankfully the pump fought it off!) Can nightmares cause high blood sugar?

Am yet to try the exercise function, that is the plan for this week.

Looking forward to a quietish Sunday at home, with food prep and chores. And maybe a nap.

Beautiful painting sketch of garlic @dunelm

Thank you Ian
Have a good day @ianpspurs
I hope the new chair is very comfortable for you...

I really admire the Herculean effort you are making to deal with this extremely challenging situation @Lamont D .
I do hope that you get some respite time so you can rest and recharge.

A really odd day.
Mrs L has a trip out today, it was okay for an hour, then needed her afternoon nap.
I didn't know how to spend that hour, felt weird.
still obsessive today and I've had to ignore the antics.
Hoping for a quieter Sunday.
Weather is shockingly poor. Nowhere near summer temps rain and cloudy.
Another not a heatwave here, coming soon.
Will Zoe Sultana become the most hated person in the media's view now?
After a year, some good, some not so bad, but still no real change, in how everything is still done.
Too right wing dominant in the system of governance.
It cannot be right that children are in absolute poverty. And there isn't this government is really doing anything about.
we should be really ashamed of our society. I am!

And you still get people wanting to move to the U.K.? To actual broken Britain?

Libre alarm woke me at 03.55 today - 3.5. Had the emergency toffee and got myself up. By the time I got through to the kitchen, BG was 7.6. I guess that shows that the toffee works but maybe my liver would have provided sufficient glucose anyway to get me out of the danger zone.

Pan killers and a cup of black coffee plus basal insulin and BG dropped to 6.3. I'm hoping it remains around that point now. Only carnivore today, and for a day or so more to try to get this back under some sort of control. Apart from about 1/3 of a small onion, I had only animal products yesterday but still needed insulin to keep BG at a reasonable level. Still, that might have been the reason for the low BG this morning.

Morning all from what promises to be a thundery Sunday here in L.A. Fbg was 4.9 at 7.11 today and is 4.5 as I type. @Annb hug for that alarm waking you but well done toffee. @gennepher thank you for sharing the colourful kaleidoscope which looks to me like a robe or ceremonial shield of some Pacific Island warrior Chief. I can definitely see spears in there but I do need my peanut butter and Jarlsberg :D #3 son, partner and children visiting today. Not bbq weather and not ideal for a traditional Sunday lunch so we may "buy in" - KFC seems to be an idea. Chicken should be fine but I'll probably peel away the Col's secret herbs and spices:D Make the best of the hand you are dealt today, hopefully there will be some aces in there.

7.6 because I hope I'm just tired.
Woke up around 7am, the curtains have been pulled down by Mrs L, as a stumble into them saved a more serious problem. I wasn't too pleased.
It was a good hour later, I could have my first cuppa and wide awake.

Weather is winter like. Heating automatically came on.
Trying to have a 'quiet' day.I

Best wishes.

5.5 this morning.
We were going to Gooderstone Water Gardens this morning but decided against it because of the rain and instead visited a friend who keeps bees to buy some jars of local honey (for Mr K of course).
Then we are spending the rest of the day just relaxing and recharging. Actually we both feel we need it.

Thanks @ianpspurs
I was quite surprised how ceremonial kaleidoscope looked...
