What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good cold and frosty ( the snowman) afternoon all.
My very best wishes to those who are living in turbulent and up setting times, also those who are having birthdays, always stressful.

This Morening in Tilehurst Towers, a very nice lady from the Adult Care Services came round and accessed the mansion that is Tilehurst Towers and also myself, her recommendations were somewhat, well let’s just leave it at somewhat shall we.
How the rugby playing, sprinting, motorcycle riding mighty have fallen.
Time, and ageing, are taking their revenge.
But at least I can still cause chaos every day. If you don’t mind I must go and it is my turn to bark at the postyman ‍‍.

I decided against the hug I was initially going to give in solidarity at the wistful memories of your days of pomp. The humour in the post saved the day. I hope the lady provides some help as well as what may be a sobering summary of where you are at now. As usual Joni said it well - in a secular version. These tents don't all age well. (2 Corinthians 5:1)
( I type this sitting next to a 96 year old - lots of carousel rides - and a few nips of Whisky - there)
I sympathise and thank you for the timely present of wisdom. We should give thanks for being able to have done the things we could back in the day: note to self, don't just say it, however frustrating these physical limitations are. Take care and best wishes to Mrs A J.

Morning all from a, rare, snow covered L.A. to start the return to almost normal. MIL is 96 today so two boys and two grandchildren visited for a celebration. We need to collect two children from school in Cambs later but definitely a day for the longer route along main roads. Fen roads in snow and ice aren't the route to take: a trip into a fen ditch is usually fatal. Best wishes to you all, take care when travelling however you move about and stay warm Peace be with you all.
What a great age MIL is @ianpspurs. Hope you had a safe journey to Cambs.

Good morning to you all. It was supposed to be the first group walk of the year this morning but at minus 7 and local roads hazardous it looks like a stopper- inner. Today is the anniversary of losing my dear dad, so I'm trying hard to blank out those disturbing flashbacks. Tomorrow is my birthday and I'm not expecting any visitors so I'm hoping the weather allows our walk then we can meet up with "walking" friends. I feel blessed that we have a safe, warm home with lovely winter views over our garden to lift our spirits. Stay warm and safe everyone. :)
Yes, we are lucky to have a safe warm home @dogslife. Especially in these icy conditions.

Thank you and @Annb on behalf of MIL. I'm not sure of the provenance of the medical research to validate the practice but a regular "tot" of whisky is part of her regime. Her mother did the same and lived to be 99. I stayed here to look after the dogs and MIL while JKP went for the children. You take care travelling.

Have a wonderful birthday @dogslife.
21 again?

Happy birthday to the MIL.

We have invaded by these white creatures and are stuck in our nice warm abode until they go away.
These invaders have decided to chill everything including my dormant garden. Except for my early spring bulbs and I still have a couple of blooming small roses.
Mrs L is still in hospital. Improving physically but not mentally.
I know there is a lot going on behind the scenes, the sooner plans are in place the better.
Keep safe, keep warm and don't forget the white invaders are known to put you in A&E, if you go skating on it. And don't drink the yellow snow.
Best wishes.

A hug for the memories today resurfaces.

Sadly not all the twists & turn of our minds can be joyous once.
Though we can just do our best to focus on the happier ones.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

Hope the day goes well.
And the weather is kinder.

Very cold and a thick layer of snow over everything outside. No post being delivered today - probably due to hazardous conditions. Neil was intending to go to town today but shows no sign of moving, so maybe he's changed his mind.

Libre woke me up at 02.45 (after about an hour and a half sleep) to tell me BG was going low. Got up at that point and decided to have a cup of hot chocolate. 15 minutes later, it was 5.4 and another 15 minutes brought it to 8.1. Hot chocolate works! Only basal insulin and it is still 8.1 after some soup for breakfast.
Nice such a pleasing choice works for you.

And in the interests of fairness, can I just say how hardy anyone living in such climes must be.

Down here in the tropics it's almost Armageddon if we have to scrape the tiniest bit of ice off our cars...lol.

But do take care, that snow & ice can be a treacherous beast

Sounds like the makings of a great day, @ianpspurs

And fully agree the road less travelled in winter, is usually for a very good reason .

Safe travels, my friend ..

A chuckle for the humour, tho I can see it's not so easy these days.

Not matter what others say it's hard not to worry when the one we love is in need of help.

Hoping the cavalry arrive asap and Madame is returned home as close to "good as new" as is humanly possible.

Take care, my Scouse friend .

Morning @alf_Josiah
( I wonder if to Mrs Alf, with your humourous ways, if you're more Alfred the GRATE ...mmhh ... ;))

I agree fully with the loss of our 'youthful' days., sadly

But pretty sure, given a choice ..aka life of Brian at the gates to the arena.

The choice of suffering age related angst OR the alternative, is an easy one.

We change, we adapt, and while we might shrink in physicality, I think we grow in experience & compassion

Still here to give support, offer reassurance & care to those we love .even if a sprint for the bus is a long forgotten ability .

Remember, we might have been a beautiful vase in our heydays, but even well weathered and likely chipped around the edges, we still hold water others can be refreshed from .

Those invisible strands of love, so gossamer like, yet with the strength of tensile Steel, means we might not be the same exteriorly , but my goodness we still hold an importance to those who need us.

have a good un fella.
And enjoy the many blessings of the day.

The ride is over all too soon anyway
But today is not that day
And nor is tomorrow, please God
