What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Edit: Also part 1 of 2 for Nordic walking course Tuesday evening - have poles may walk Nordically in a fortnight. It is a real "thing" about here. A few groups and several people who Nordically walk with their dogs.

What does the course entail I wonder? Is there much to learn - is it one of those things that looks deceptively simply but actually requires lots of technique?

Morning all. An unremarkable 6.3 starts my week.
However, Monday is weigh-in day and there is now less rhubarb than there has been for decades:
89.9kg is 11.6kg down in 10 weeks.
It’s starts with an 8! Can’t remember when that last happened. 20 years maybe.
Wow well done on the weight reduction @rhubarb73 great feeling more spring in your step I’d imagine

@rhubarb73 There is definitely a technique to it and it seems to be counter intuitive from videos and reading. I am doing a 2 week "fast track" version. Interestingly it may be a very big thing on the continent as my Decathlon App has videos by a world champion and a separate heading for Nordic Walking stats. The courses hereabouts are run by a mother and daughter NW Mafia although I am led to believe the daughter is much better as she runs a range of fitness classes. I am with the daughter.
@shelley262 Great to see you here. I wondered why you didn't post here. It will be good for us as much as you due to your store of hints and tips. @Cumberland (Ian) hug as being a type 1 that is presumably problematic - certainly driving wise.

Hi All. Like @shelley262 I am joining in because I think it will be good for me. 5.7 today at 0800. I used to think I would NEVER see a 5 in the morning and it has taken 7 months despite good control. I have set myself a benchmark now if FB is 6.2 or more I dont eat before 12 effectively doing IF 16/8. Again never thought I could do that either but hot weather helps. Have a good Monday. Washing and ironing day here.

Great idea to plan to deal with it that way but fbg is an odd one and definitely has a mind of its own! I do 16/8 most days still as it suits me and read so much about fasting benefits but it’s not always practical

Welcome @PenguinMum. Interesting that other people also have benchmarks and actions that flow from them. Very programming oriented if statement thinking! Also. Monday is washday - is Tuesday soup day?:angelic:

Thanks Shelley. It is interesting all the variables but its good to try something different to help. I now have a strong list of reliable food that works for me but as you say it does sometimes hav a mind of its own. Still learning!

Don’t think I’ll ever stop learning! One of my fave things these days is to watch a clip of a lecture from one of the low carb conferences who’d have ever guessed that! Me interested in the science?

good morning all :)

4.8 today

It was very warm during the night here which meant not the best rest :( and it's already almost 20'C outside on the shady side of the house :)

Don't know if I'll get any gardening done, mr gee says he wants to mow the roadside bit outside the fence because there are rose suckers coming up all over.
For myself I have a visit to my GP this afternoon, she's finished her year with the practice and is leaving at the end of the month :( She was very amenable to my LCHF diet and interested in the effects so I can only hope that whoever takes over is as open and flexible.

@geefull great fbg as usual and interesting to see how the new GP views your regime - which by the way ( all Ally MCoist for you) has been a massive success. Also, all grass cutting is suspended in this part of the world. I am pretty sure my village will soon hit 2 months without rain. East Anglian Grain Barons pleading poverty - (should maybe stop driving to Waitrose in Range Rover Sports?):angelic:
One place to see them and some real money is Waitrose Newmarket!

5.7 this morning, quite a bit later than usual so I was expecting higher.
Well done on the weight loss @rhubarb73 thats very encouraging.
Good morning @shelley262 its lovely to see you here.
@ianpspurs hope the Nordic walking goes well, I tried to find a group near me a year ago but no luck. It’s meant to be one of the very best exercises for all round good health.

Morning all 4.8 this morning not a fantastic start as I was up all night and I have stomach pains but I’m going to try and push on
On the brighter side of things I got a new book on Saturday and I’m already around 10 chapters in as I’m enjoying it so much :)

4.8 today
Hi all hope you are ok about me joining you after deliberately not joining this thread for the last 11 months I feel it would be helpful for me to log in here. Fbg remains for me the most puzzling of all bg readings and seems to have a mind of its own but would like to join in with you all and your friendly chats.
Don’t know what others find but I find that in the heat the blood flows easier to take the morning reading - even got enough for a ketones reading out of my large drop of blood this morning! ( 2.0 for anyone interested so motoring along still on ketones)
Have a good Monday all enjoy
They seem quite a friendly lot here. I n"neglected" them for more than a year and when I popped back no one seemed to mind!

Good luck with new gp but you’d think on seeing your amazing transformation they couldn’t help but support you - but yes I do know how they can be !

Hot weather most defiantly helps... Best thoughts...

@DJC3 Thanks and I promise everyone I will not set targets and eviscerate myself if I don't reach them:angelic: I bought the poles when Podiatrist thought my walking problems were CMT but now I know it is my back I believe NW will take the strain off that. I had no idea of the NW videos and special stats area when I bought Decathlon HR Monitor and I am certain I won't be constantly checking stats and looking at how to raise PB. I'm just not that kinda guy:angelic:

I always do my fbg slightly later than others may, I’m a slow waker so need to visit bathroom, check on family, weigh self make tea etc first before bloods which may explain why I fluctuate as some wakings are more stressful than others!
