What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

9.2
I had a hypo last night- 3.1. My evening readings had been creeping down since I started fast 800 but this was lowest yet. Had my ‘emergency’ sugar free strawberry bootlaces (7 Carbs) and didn’t shift so had a sandwich (low carb bread and vegan Philly). Went back up to 5.4 after that. Now my liver and pancreas are confused and I’m high again. Such a bummer!

Im going to skip my evening gliclazide and see if that stops the evening hypo and speak to my dsn next week

Used my "optimistic" meter this morning as have lots of test strips. Meter read 4.7 - which sounds great but....optimistic meter...
In all other news feeling really downhearted as the lipid clinic has been on the phone. Thought (hoping) they had forgotten about me. Another statin ultimatum coming up. Trouble is, just checked my cholesterol and LDL is back up. :banghead: Our genes sure have a lot to answer for!

May the 1st be with you - yes it is three days early but some classes take things in more slowly. Swipey reckons 6.1 was my fbg today. For T2 control that is feels seriously awful by my normal levels but in context possibly a pretty good effort. @PenguinMum what is this rain of which you speak? Stay safe and be considerate of others - Googling tractors in public is to be avoided..

Oh wow! Gliclazide can cause hypos if you are eating very low calorie diet.
Are you on any other meds? It would be wise to check with GP or other HCP, asap.

I have a more respectable 5.7 today, on both meters. Phew!

6.5 this morning coupled with a headache - had something to eat yesterday sneakily containing parmesan cheese. Banging head now for about a week probably

Thanks for the replyI’m on metformin and gliclazide, 160mg am and 120mg pm. I’ve had to half the pm dose after a few days of vlcd and now it would seem I need to stop it entirely.

Im speaking to my diabetes nurse next week as she was wanting to add lanogliptin (spelling? Not sure I got that right) because of my initial midday spikes, but my bms are down to normal after a week of the fast 800 so I would rather continue for the 12 weeks and reduce the glic as needed during that time and not add anything else. Then review as I increase cals after the 12 wks, but definitely going to stick to low carb as it has worked well for me. Unless of course my blood results indicate I am typ 1/Lada then that will change things…

After I had dka end of feb they prescribed sitagliptin but I had to stop after a week or so as I was getting hypos. This was before the fast 800 but after I had gone low carb and things had started improving slowly.

Sorry this is a bit of an essay!

FBG 6.7 didn’t get the Hat-trick of 5s ******! Actually not too disappointed because a few unexplained high 3s in the previous couple of days so something to keep an eye on and see if its time to adjust the ol basal again. Would be easier to kick goals if T1D played fair and didn’t keep moving the goal posts!

Morning All 7.9 nothing good to say other than its not an 8. Cold and cloudy again but no need to water the garden after yesterday. Enjoy BH as best you can everyone.

Morning all,

5.3 today, I’ve been on a run of 6s so this unusual.

Less running than I was doing this time last year, due to a limpy knee/ankle combo.

Hope you are all keeping well.

Good to see you reporting in - sorry you are still having issues with your "limpyness".
