What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

After a week on the slimfast regime I have been regularly recording high 4's but today was 3.7. Quite impressed with it.

Do you drive?
 
Not very often, and always test before setting out. I remember Sid Bonkers little motto never drive under five
 
NICE guidelines for blood glucose levels in non-diabetics:
3.5 - 5.5 mmol/l before meals
less than 8 mmol/l 2 hours after meals

So my question is a BG level 3.7 From a T2 taking NO Meds now
That BAD allowing BG meter inaccuracy ?
 
2.9 this morning. I'm usually about 3.6. Might seem too low to you guys but that's normal for me. I ALWAYS check glucose level before leaving the house, whether I'm driving or not. Recent HbA1c 5.3.....or whatever the new system is....that was well within acceptable limits. Used to average 16 before starting low carb diet 2 years ago. Have lost 6 stone since then, stopped having to take Novorapid and Byetta, now only taking Gliclazide and Lantus at night!!!!
 
I'm type 2. Stopped taking Met a few days before starting with the slimfast plan, now taking only blood pressure tablets and a high quality multivitamin from Holland & Barrett. Bob, didn't understand the last line of your post. Did you mean my meter is inaccurate ? or is it another acronym I haven't got my head round ?

No ....Just saying BG meters are Not always Dead eye ****, bang on :wink:

The added befit for me ,Not on the Meds is No more Bad Hypos as some of my other pain medication
could drive me down very fast combined with my diabetic meds :?
One less thing i have to worry about now :)
Hope it lasts and I can stay off my Meds when I end the diet ,We will all have to see

If Not it will have been a nice Holiday from some of the tablets :mrgreen:
 
Hi - happy Sunday :) Here are my readings:

  • 7.1 fasting - not good
  • 6.6 - that's a bit better
 
6.1 - :( wasnt happy... I have been so good and havent yet worked out why this morning was so much higher than it has been lately.
 
  • 5.2 fasting
    Breakfast of hard boiled egg and cheese
  • 5.5 @ 2 hours
    Very pleased about these readings
 
I woke up shivering! I was wet through after going low in the night. My blood sugars first thing were 3.0 mmol. I have been known to go low in the night, wake up wet through with a blood sugar in the 5 mmol range I think that may be due to my liver dumping glucose into my blood stream which can be good thing, maybe even life saving so long as my liver does not 'decide' to take a dump when I have eaten :lol:
 
  • 6.1 fasting
  • Breakfast of cheese, ham and.... croissant :mrgreen:
  • Not surprisingly 7.4 @ 2 hours
