What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

I’m no where near your complex T2, nor your length of dealing with it. Where do you stand with your HBA1C?
Just had my HBA1C done as predicted it was high at 38. I thought fasting blood levels was the first one in the morning. The thing I hate is my heavy legs, I struggle to walk, once warmed up I can move more freely, I'm putting this down to my weight or does anyone think it's the medication, I've tried having a break from the medication and my legs do clear.

Morning all. 9.9 this morning down from 15.2 at bedtime. I can only think that this is all because of my back problem. I'm in constant pain and mostly it's accompanied by a headache. Haven't started the year off very wel so hopefully it can only get better! Fingers crossed. :)
Evening @RosemaryJackson

Carbohydrate intake is the chief reason for raised blood glucose levels as you know and we stress food intake and timing of meals because those are two factors we can control.

Unfortunately, the body adapts to the continued presence of an anti-diabetic drug like Metformin, so stopping that medication is bound to lead to a short-term rise in blood glucose readings. On top of that, you're suffering from sciatica with frequent headaches and pain can certainly contribute to higher BG readings as you say.

I'd seek a medical view. If nothing else, your GP may prescribe more effective pain relief.

7.2 this morning, my bad…I had two sugar free chocolates last night….a meltdown.
meltdowns are good for me ….they make me fight. So….its now zero carb until we leave for Sri Lanka in February. Five weeks. It’s worth a try. breakfast was ground beef and butter, lunch was scrambled eggs and ground beef with a chaffle (I do eat dairy, it doesn’t bother me…..I did a year long dairy free test)
also think I’ll have the doc redo my fasting insulin test. It’s been a year and I’d love to know if it’s changed. It was low, 28, with a very normal mid range c peptide. Love the numbers I’m a science geek.

Morning all, this chilly Tuesday. FBG 5.9 for me first thing, before I jumped out of bed. Mr Libre makes it easy to see that it’s not really Dawn Phenomenon that sends it soaring, but the leap into action. Although today was more of a crawl.
Evening @Ladynijo.

This observation has been described as feet-to-floor syndrome as opposed to dawn phenomenon which occurs during the early hours while we're asleep.

I didn't manage a leap out of bed this morning either, btw. More of a stagger, I'd say.

Evening @Disconnected. Welcome aboard!

An HbA1c result under 43 mmol/mol is considered normal, 43 to 48 is classed as pre-diabetic, while a reading over 48 is diabetic.
Yes, your fasting blood glucose is the first reading when you awake in the morning. Hope this helps.

I thought 38 was a good number ?
