What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Newly diagnosed this week and waiting to find out what type - but likely type 2 so finding my way still
13.3 at bedtime 11.6 at 1am - tested because I woke up for wee, and just felt a bit odd, this morning at 7.15am it was 12.7
I seem to be sitting at around 13 first thing in the morning and bedtime has been anything from 13 - 17,
All suggestions welcome

sorry to hear to hear your recently diagnosed it will be stressful time for you sending hugs. have a browse around the sucess stories section of this forum. https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/category/success-stories-and-testimonials.43/

i'd be trying to reduce some carbs alongside exercising a little after meals not huge changes to start just slow and steady.

you can get a free cgn trial https://www.dexcom.com/en-GB/one-plus-campaign-sample? (10 days) i would hold off on that until any possible meds. then do a little bit of expirimenting. complex carbs take longer to digest turning to sugars which would help flatten spikes. theres a fair few success stories on low carb / keto diets. if not wishing a huge change of diet maybe aim for slightly smaller plates. small changes such as changing to wholegrains may help a little.

i'd also try up your sugarfree fluid intake as that can help to lower glucose levels if not already drinking around 2.5-3litres per day. (around 8-10 glasses)

brightside with diagnosis is that you will be given some tools to help treat its a marathon and not a sprint. You should also be given some education i found that dsn doesnt want to overwhelm with giving out too much info at a time. slow and steady will get you there best wishes and welcome to the forum

@LouT Hi sorry to hear of your diagnosis but thankfully not the end of the world although it may seem it at the time. Your numbers will come down with medication and the weird and annoying symptoms will diminish or even completely disappear.
You will find on this site many experiences, hints, tips and caring advice that help you along your journey of living with diabetes. Believe it or not we are all a friendly bunch (despite our obsession with numbers) and keen to share advice as well as experiment with ways to improve things and make diabetes more manageable. Good luck and keep smiling.

BTW 6.0 this morning and struggling a little with green tea.:greedy:
