What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Good morning folks from five hours in the past.
An interesting day in Brooklyn yesterday but the magic wheel of wonderment and misfortune is still sticking at arround 6 - so 6.2 this morning and after all that exercise (about 9 miles).
Anyhow, boat trips to Liberty and Ellis islands planned for this morning and then perhaps a wander round the pointy bit of Manhattan. Might do the Skyline again if we have time.
Out tonight to see Chick-a-go - not particular my choice but hey, pop, six, squish, Uh-Hu, Cicero, Lipschitz and all that stuff.
Time for koffy. Have a great day if you can.

Four finger-sticks with two meters and one finger this morning gave me a range from 6.6 to 5.5.

Now enjoying lazy instant coffee, only one piece of oat bread with pb, and Magnum, then switching over to Heartland. Horses on the high plains of Alberta. :)

Magnum the detective not the ice cream? o_O
I love peanut butter too but not the really strong tasting ones. Hope you and the KC enjoy your day.

Magnum the Tom Selleck version. :)

Magnum ice cream? Sounds intriguing.

The peanut butter is a version of Jif that's supposed to be more healthful than the regular Jif. Plus it doesn't have to be stirred. Yay!

I hope you are having a good day. :)

Given the DSN in @dogslife review who recommended the food plan put forward by another forum which is carb loaded it's no wonder many T2's are continuing to suffer with increased blood sugars & complications as a result...T2 is I believe still very much seen as fault based...deserved for the lifestyle we've led...I don't subscribe to that view...certainly obesity & the lack of exercise may hasten a diagnosis...however one comment I saw here a year or so ago has stayed with me...the question posed was 'did my obesity cause my diabetes or did my diabetes cause my obesity' a valid point...surely what is more important for those already diagnosed is not how we 'got it' it should be how we manage & many of us if diagnosed in time can manage it.
A very sensible and positive view, Bubbsie.:)

How walkable are you finding NYC, @dunelm ? A friend of mine who grew up there says it has neighborhoods that are like self-contained communities within the huge city.

Are the sidewalks in good condition? When I go out to walk around my neighborhood, I find the sidewalks cracked and rough. Last time I was in London I found it very walkable. But I walked better then -- 20 years ago this month! :(

And Cambridge was very bicycle-friendly and flat.

Hello mates,
At a couple of the other forums I've frequented there was a thread like this one where we all sorta checked in each day, with our first cup of coffee or tea, and reported our fasting or waking blood glucose level and some short comment about whether we're ok with it or if not - why not?...

It worked well as a sort of 'first thread to check' each morning and post to.

I'll start.

This morning was a 5.6mmol for me. That's about normal for me

What about you?

Sadly 18.4 this morning :( waiting on new tablets beginning with a D ... I tried metformin and slow release too side effects made me stop both over the years. Sitagliotin then saxagliptin barely touched it. The best thing I ever did was change my diet and walk more, brought my sugar levels down by 20% but still high. Was very naughty when the last batch of these new ones ran out and didn't follow up.. .. So it's back on a high :( gliclazide 30mg twice a day helps but this new one is where. Y hope lies. Good luck with your morning tests folks, hoping my results improve and fast!

Hello and welcome to this thread, it's nice in here, the people are very helpful, and clever, and they rarely bite.
Have you had your welcome pack from @daisy1 lots of good info in there, look forward to hearing more from you and hopefully watching those bg scores come down a bit.

Thank you and no welcome pack yet unless I've something in my inbox.

It's hard having a desk based It role as there's always snacks etc but not so many chances to get up and wander around.... I'll eat this down to a safe level, I've dropped it before I just need to be more Disciplined.

Magnum ice cream in UK is a premium ice cream on a stick covered in thick chocolate. There are various flavours. In my past life they were a big hit of ice cream indulgence! I think best stick with Tom Selleck more low carb.

Hi @SaskiaKC - NYC is very walkable- well where we have been at least. We don’t mind 10 or more miles a day wandering round a city - always something to see.
Sidewalks are fine - subway is, interesting but it gets you to your start point.
Forecast for tomorrow is for rain and possible snow flurries so a wet weather programme in order.
Blood sugars not bad today - in the 5’s. most of the time.
