What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Hello again. I posted this morning that I'd just started to take beta blockers and that one possible side effect was hypos. Well I'm not sure if I've just had a hypo or a false hypo after a long time without one. I ate lunch out at around 1.15pm which included some potato and carrots. ( Unusual for me to have this much carbohydrate in the same meal). At 6pm I ate a small cheese and beef sandwich and immediately started to become overheated and my hands started to shake. As these are my usual hypo symptoms I tested and was 4.6. so may have been below 4.0 before I ate. A few jelly babies later I was 6.0 and felt OK. I'm convinced it was an affect of my new medication but could possible be a sudden rise and fall of bs after my lunch, producing similar hypo symptoms. I've decided it best to miss my Gliclazide and just take Metformin this evening just in case and will monitor closely for the next few days. Any thoughts?? Have a good evening folks. :)

-Have written to them about that!
@Goonergal I had the same problem but sorted it out. The data I got is amazing and the graphs showing precipitate fall in bg levels, cholesterol levels and weight are hugely motivating and much more graphic than mere numbers. I also had the results within 72 hours. Best wishes but you will ace it!

Edit

There was thread about getting access with links to NHS website to get official wording. I quoted this to the practice manager and had access within 15 minutes! Unfortunately, I can't find the link but you may have it already.

I found something online and quoted it in the email I sent. Still waiting to hear back.

Posting on here as a diversionary activity to calm nerves - BT Sport on in background!

Really scary what you are going through with new medication. I hope things get sorted out soon. Could it be too much medication in your system? Let us know how you get on and if Gliclazide was the culprit. Is this the first time on both metformin and Gliclazide and beta blockers?

Hi Keesha. Thanks for your response. I've been on Metformin and my present dose of Gliclazide for some time without any problems. I suspect its the addition of beta blockers that has lowered my bs unexpectedly but I've only taken 2 so far so will see what happens in the next few days. I have my testing meter and my jelly babies handy!:)

Miserable morning! I need to give myself and my stroppy BG a good talking to. It just won't do! We can't believe that having some almonds while watching Masterchef last night would result in 8.7. Lots of extremely bad words coming to mind. I know you can be foul-mouthed but can you be foul-brained too?

Correction dose done, fingers crossed, a good shaking and some self-finger wagging all done. Right, let's get on with the day and smile. Onwards and downwards everyone, have a great, positive end to the week:joyful:

Hi@Freema tested at 6 am BG was 6.6 not being good has yet had a mini chocolate pudding with cream last evening so I'm aware of why, I've got to get my head on but just a little difficult at moment? Hope your doing better than me? K

im fine thanks k .just seems to be 1 thing after the other lately but ive got me little holiday on monday to look forward to cold or no cold im determined to make the most of it .iread your post about the honey dressings they are supposed to be very good for wounds fingers and everything else crossed for you as you havent had it very easy yourself lately sending love and hugs xx:happy:
@karen8967 thanks I'm off to see district nurse again today for my first honey dressing she had to order them my mother in law used to say we need putting in a bag and shaking up when things weren't Has they should be health wise, perhaps that's our solution at the moment.Enjoy your holiday this isn't your sons wedding is it? thought if my memory is better than usual it is later in year, anyway a holiday is for enjoyment where ever you go sod the cold and Enjoy It!!!K

Another 7.8 this morning. The fire alarm in the hotel went off early this morning. Fire assembly points are not much fun especially in freezing temperatures. At least it was not snowing/raining☃️☃️☃️
Not a great time of year for standing in freezing cold, are you in Scotland again? Even Worse up their, hope you managed to get a bit more sleep after you'd need a hot toddy that would help, just might bring BG down! Haha. K

A 5.4 at 3am after 4hrs sleep. A 6.9 now after 2hrs more sleep.
So irrational fbgs. Not surprised. Dn isn't either. She was very very helpful when she called me back yesterday. A very educated lady, she is an absolute jewel at my diabetic unit. I'm so lucky she knows my full history.

I wonder if it's OK for us type 1s

Not sure, the thread is called Dawn phenomenon -RAW apple cider vinegar. Some people have posted links to articles on it so might be worth investigating.
I drank it through a straw and rinsed afterwards as it can damage your teeth apparently as its so acidic.
