Hi all hope all well and having a good day
Breakfast one slice of low carb bread and boiled egg and coffee with inulin
Lunch mackerel in olive oil with seeds and nuts
This afternoon two pots of green tea with home grown mint - getting hooked on this it’s great when weather warm, very refreshing I find
Dinner slow cooked beef shin with cauliflower cheese with small glass of red wine followed by sugar free jelly with 3 of my strawberries ( more are ripening!) and a small amount of cream

Just got home to find that link in a private message from Dajana. I also signed up to the low carb programme when it was free, but found it frustratingly slow so abandoned it pretty quickly and just went cold turkey on carbs.

Today has been one of those hungry days where I’ve eaten far too much. Started badly as I didn’t sleep due to the worst cramps I’ve had in months - for no apparent reason, and blood sugars shooting up into the 6s by around 8am. To add insult to injury, my newly activated Libre sensor is running at least 1.5mmols above my code free and numbers have been higher than usual all day.

Breakfast - don’t usually eat, but faced with an all day meeting and already feeling snappy, had an egg and spinach protein pot from Pret.

Lunch - crayfish, avocado and egg salad from Eat. Ditched their dressing and added mayonnaise instead.

Snack - pack of nuts from Pret.

Dinner - Nando’s. 3 plain wings and a plain leg with half an avocado. Then demolished some Sainsbury’s 85% chocolate on the way home and once home had some cream and almond butter!

At least it was all low carb.

We’ve just had a fantastic response from an Airbnb host. My daughter and I are going to a family wedding next week and she suggested we look at Airbnb’s for our trip. I had a P Inn booked with cooked breakfast (as I can’t do continental now) for the two nights sharing a room for £230. Last night we found an Airbnb with breakfast which is unusual for Airbnb. My daughter msged them to ask what the b’fast was explaining why she was asking. The lady got back to us this morning and said it’s usually toast and cereals but she’ll do us a full English! So we have a bedroom each, WiFi, parking, access to a private beach but most importantly a low carb breakfast for £1 less than the P Inn! P Inn is needless to say cancelled!

Blustery but eventually very sunny day here so I hope you all had good weather and good days. I ended my food fast at 2 pm after 91 hrs. Final levels were OK with ketones at 3 - I do need to find a way outside of fasting to get to these levels. I will explore the @Goonergal idea of a run of back to back OMAD days once the numbers come back from this period. The menu for today was:

B: A tea lake with almond milk
MMS:Tasimo Americano Grande with double cream and inulin (Gave that machine a try for a change)
L: Ended 91 hr fast with Low carb inulin toffee, flaxseed and 100% chocolate bar; I really enjoyed that and bg dropped to 3.8!!: tea with almond milk
MAS: Garlic slices; olives; cheddar cheese; cucumber
D: 2 Boiled eggs with livelife soldiers; 10 cal raspberry jelly; clotted cream; 6 raspberries
Very odd what I wanted to eat after the fast. I always knew I wanted the bar but almost never eat boiled eggs. I usually like poached or scrambled.

Cramps are weird aren’t they I often had them but if I keep taking the magnesium it keeps them mainly at bay I also have Epsom salts that I put in a foot bath when they start to threaten to come back. Past few nights muscles a bit sore so will footbath this evening. My mum has a magnesium oil spray and rubs it in when cramps start she says it works. Hope they go pain does put bgs up.

I used magnesium spray when I got night cramps during the early days of low carbing. I also starting using pink Himalayan salt instead of regular salt. When the spray ran out I didn’t buy more and I now rarely get cramps. I wonder if the return of cramps is related to dehydration in this warmer weather

Well done Ian you must be really delighted at having achieved what you have by fasting also love the lake of tea comment!

You’re probably right re dehydration reminder to self should drink more water I don’t drink enough of it. I use Himalayan salt too and as I said not such a problem now but there was a stage pre magnesium and pink salt where had them every night. They are not nice don’t want them back!

Yes, very weird. I’ve been taking magnesium regularly for ages now and thought this was behind me. Just a day to write off, I think.

Thanks @shelley262. I am ok with the readings but do want to manage levels better/the same in other ways. I will pick brains in a week or so for ways to feel sated without too much protein. I was amazed at the drop after eating the homemade bar.

@shelley262 @Goonergal @Rachox I’m so glad DiabetesUK have picked up on your inspirational stories - you are all legends on here but it’s lovely to think you could be inspiring a wider audience too.

B: DD keto roll toasted, with butter, marmite and a scrambled egg on top. ( scrambled egg on marmite toast was one of my favourite breakfasts before diagnosis so I was really happy to rediscover it)
L: out with friends at a new cafe, gorgeous salads and a huge choice but although I thought I chose low carb, I think some of them must have had hidden carbs as I had +3 post reading. Maybe it was the sheer quantity of food - my plate was enormous, but all so fresh and delicious.

Afternoon tea with another group of friends - took trusty lemon drizzle and low carb coconut macadamia bars ( from alldayidreamaboutfood.com recipe - they are delicious)

D: 50g walnuts, few olives and glass of red wine

Well done on amazing fasting! I bet that low carb chocolate bar tasted wonderful.
Garlic slices though? Are they fresh raw garlic? Gosh!

Thanks @DJC3 The garlic is marinated in a tomato sauce, We bought a tub of mixed olives and the garlic on Sunday from a stall which also comes to our local market. We use them regularly. I find the recipes from alldayidreamaboutfood.com work really well. Picture looks good.
I need to know how to make the Keto rolls work - what is the secret? Marmite - amazing. Marmite and tomato in those rolls would be my dream :(

Yes, sorry only decided to add the photo at the last minute, they are 2.5 carbs each, about the size of an Adonis blondie. Very yummy but chopping macadamias is a pain - they are so fatty they tend to go into a paste rather than breaking up.
Might give them a try, I love coconut x

Ah! Yes I get it now, I love olives and garlic too.
@DJC3 3 I updated my reply basically begging for how to get keto rolls to work. You made me think of my all time favourite sandwich - Marmite and tomato on granary or rye bread but keto rolls might work
