Hi @Mal37 its all individual how low you need to go. Important thing is to cut the carbs enough to make progress on lowering your bgs. I started out at a 100g per day but realised quickly would need to lower and have stuck with a keto way of eating of usually less than 20g per day and never go above 30g ! The more you test after meals the more you’ll know what level of carbs works for you. Good luck
Thank you for that info Shelley. I'm not the best at understanding what I'm doing or what Keto is and how attained! I have cut out potatoes, bread, never ate rice or pasta so that was easy. Also cur out all fruit apart from berries. I don't even have milk any longer!

Sounds like you are going in right direction. I think best place to learn about keto how it works and best things to eat is
Www.dietdoctor.com
Some good easy to understand visuals on there see
https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/foods
I think I learnt more on that site to help me along alongside measuring my blood glucose before and after meals to see what worked for me. I continue to do this to keep me on an even keel.
Hope this helps

Evening everyone. Ive had a bit of a stressful day in all
Started ok
B: 1/2 avocado and a scrambled egg. Coffee and cream
Off to gym class then

L: meeting friends at Zizzi ( looked on website for nutritional info but they don’t give carb count, just sugar, irritating) I waited 20 mins for my friends before realising I was actually in Prezzo not Zizzi! Quick dash accross town.
Had chicken and proscutto salad which looked like the lowest carb food to me. Didn’t fill me up so had one of the coconut macadamia bars when I got home.

I rang the vet this afternoon as our dog has been a bit off colour recently, they said they could see us so we walked down there ( quicker than driving in rush hr) waited for a blood test which showed massively elevated liver enzymes and said we should take her to the vet hospital - walked back home then drove up the busy A40 to the hospital where she’ll stay overnight. The house feels very quiet tonight.

D: too late really but we were v hungry when we got in and had streaky bacon, a fried egg, 1/2 fried tomato and a small Jersey Royal spud reheated. Still waiting to see what effect the potato will have.

@DJC3 hope your dog gets better and the weekend proves less stressful. I Jersey Royal should be fine they aren't exactly large.

 ordered 2 types of pork scratchings from amazon. to try.
the Posh ones are great, but I decided to try a different brand too. Scrutinised the blurb. No mention of gluten or MSG, but now they have arrived, the ingredients list shows both.
not worth returning, so straight in the bin. wouldn't feed them to the dogs.

1pm posh pork scratchings
6pm baked salmon and a small new potato in butter. Still stuffed 5 hours later, so smaller portion next time.

Aww hope your fur baby gets better soon, such a worry when they are not well. Fingers crossed the late meal doesn’t add to your stress levels and tomorrow brings you a better day :)

Thanks @jayney27 @shelley262 @ianpspurs for your good doggy wishes. Looking on the brighter side, we won’t be woken by the sound of her attacking the paper as it comes through the letterbox tomorrow. Might even be able to read it without carefully piecing it back together again.

Ps Jersey Royal ok!! ( 4.7 before 5.5 at 2hrs - that has actually cheered me up)

Shame about those pork scratchings @Brunneria
I made a very happy discovery yesterday - a new butcher not too far away who makes his own from his wonderful Gloucester Old Spot pork. £2 for quite a decent size bag. Havent tried them yet though.

Bed on Thursday 6.7 FBG 7.4. Still not 100%. The achy limbs are always a sign but it doesn't feel like it will develop into anything major.
B. Tassimo Americano grande with a dash of cream. Adonis Greenie when leaving for the school/nursery run.

L. Had to negotiate the road works at the bottom of our street. Theyve been there ages, people know they are there yet they persist in coming that way when they know they make it worse. After shopping/putting a bit more fuel in the car , back home to pack swimming bags again before getting No 1 grandson from school and off to swimming. Inbetween I fitted in another 2 of these wonderful buffalo and mozzarella sausages from the local farm shop. Only 1.7g carbs per sausage. Slice of GF black pudding and a fried egg (Got another double yolker too). Off for a couple of hours swimming with No 1.
D. After picking up No 2 son wanted to go shopping which was fine as I was going for fish for Hubby (we have a wonderful fish hut nearby where fresh catches are landed). Me ? I was on leftovers as I had 6 chicken wings to cook and eat. Hubby made me celeriac chips while I was out and I had them with a tablespoon of Tescos Finest Aubergine Babaganoush. So new it isn't on their web site yet but it is delicious. They have it in with the dips in my store.
Gave in to the last portion of Halo Top.
@shelley262 - wonder woman I'm not although what I put in my posts is the tip of the iceberg. I don't mind as my physio says it keeps me mobile and it's good for me. Oddly I've purchased retro wonder woman sports leggings (and Deadpool leggings ) for my DIL for her birthday. As well as doing treatments she's just qualified in acupuncture and she also teaches fitness classes. Now she's a wonder woman as she has CMT and has to wear special strappings to stay upright. Same problems her and me but different causes . In my MIL words these plastic muscles are a real pest!

How many of you have a sandwich toaster lurking at the back of a cupboard thinking you'd never use it again? Think to more - Fathead Toasties. I feel a ham and cheese toastie coming my way soon. I always made my toastie in the George Foreman so I suspect they will work there too.

Breakfast: weetabix with banana, grapes and blueberries.

Dinner: Homemade soup with kidney beans, potato and lamb

Tea: Sadly it will not be a Papa Johns pizza that I have had for years. It will instead be a burger with cheese in a pitta bread with salad

I practically lived on toasties as a student, this is a great idea. I too used a George Foreman grill in later years to make them. Let us know how you get on if you do it before me

Hi everyone,
After my slighted elevated early morning reading, which I attributed to being anxious about clinic appt and the fact that I needed to deliver 3 separate training sessions to European based staff today, things settled down with some 5’s and a 4.9
B- cheese omelette made by my partner which was a nice treat, think he was trying to ease my anxiety
L- sliced roast pork with salad and yoghurt and herb dressing
Snack after work of a coffee with cream and small piece of choc oil cake
D- livlife bread made into a bacon butty with reduced sugar ketchup, well today was a special day after all
I used to deliver training to different sizes of audiences. I tended to write most of the material which helped but is could get interesting if you were covering different topics in one day. One of my more amusing sessions was when the projector caught fire behind me and I knew the session so well I just kept going while they extinguished the flames behind me - just had to be more descriptive. The delegates actually said the visuals were excellent. I can tell some stories! I'm sure your the same.

Don't know what happened last night but bed was 8.6 but it was on the way down. FBG was fine at 5.9 and the worst DP could do was 7.4 so it is sorting itself out again. Been pretty stable all day and the sore throat has disappeared.
Day has been as busy as ever. Plasterers turned up at 9am to work on the renovations to my brother's house (now niece's). Left hubby to look after them while I went off with son and No 1 grandson for a decent sized shop. Assisted with fasting as I was busy teaching grandson to scan, weigh and price vegetables using Tescos self scanners.
B. Black coffee
L. Late on Tassimo Americano grande with a dash of cream and an Adonis brownie.
D. Slice of ox tongue, turkey, rare roast beef and 1/2 Slice of ham. Bistro tomatoes, coleslaw, more of that aubergine Babaganoush, mini mozzarella pearls and hubby had made me a few celeriac chips. Hubby kept suggesting a prosecco but I stuck with water.
Tomorrow is even busier - plasterer, joiner , plumber all next door and the carpet fitter is coming to measure up plus boys swimming lessons. Sunday is supposed to be my quiet day too.

Lovely story thank you for sharing it. Yesterday’s training was a demonstration on how to use a new module in our database. I used Skype and screen sharing, spoke with colleagues in Spain in the morning, then the team in Cyprus and finally Italy. At the end of the month I will need to cover Ireland, still to decide if I will visit or do remotely again, then UK which will be a mixture of both I expect. I could have travelled to train our European teams but thought it was a huge waste of time and money for an hours training for each team.

Much earlier start than I wanted today and never really woke up due to either very high pollen count or virus which has hung about for about a month. Used today as Father's day as so much sport to watch starting with rugby at 8.30 by which time I had been mooching about for 3 hours. I really liked the food today and would like it to be an exemplar day but whatever has been affecting me seems to have raised all readings so no way to judge how well it worked. I hope you all had good days. I am feeling stuffed but that is all good as I want to food fast now until Tuesday lunchtime - bone broth all ready and loads of acv to go with bit. Menu below:

B: 2 pints tea with almond milk between 5.45 and 7.30; Tassimo Americano Grande with double cream 8.00 ish watching rugby
MMS/B Low carb inulin toffee, flaxseed and 100% chocolate bar; 2 mugs tea with h/m almond milk
L: Cheese and asparagus (less than 30 mins from picking) omlette (own eggs) with Helman’s mayo; Bistro salad and cherry tomatoes; avocado; olive oil + acv; chia seeds and psyllium husk powder; 2 mugs tea with home made almond milk
MAS: Nothing
D: Gammon Hock; salad leaves , spring onions, radishes (all from garden); Cherry tomatoes; cucumber; chia seeds and psyllium husk powder; acv and olive oil vinaigrette; strawberries (from garden) 10 cal jelly; clotted and double cream; glass malbec

I had to travel as video connections were in their infancy and didn't work well. Any Dublin/Belfast sessions always seemed to be weekends but they were always obliging and shipped Hubby with me on these weekend work trips and there was always free time.
