Its a weird thing with me... if I make a conscious decision to 'fast' then I'm constantly hungry (even when i wouldn't normally be) but quite often i can forget to eat and won't be hungry at all. Like I said, weird!! :banghead:
.
It’s that good old devil on the shoulder that wants what it can’t have but isn’t bothered by it when it’s easily accessible. He (or she as I don’t believe it’s confirmed either way) gets all of us at times. I’ve put mine in a box and locked it in my fridge with the food I know it’ll try to tell me I want to eat while I’m fasting. Working out well for me so far ;)

okra. Cigarette smoke, old, new, and permeating a room, wafting from a balcony, etc etc. That I have so many chronic diseases. That I take so very many meds. Being cold. Anything too loud, but specifically non-classical music and the television.
@Tori71 yes please recipe book! Thank you! And yes, IF I do overnight too lol. Unfortunately I have to take advil to sleep, which requires a little food only a few hours after my supper usual cutoff time. If I have to get up early that spoils the 12 hrs completely. It’s always something, isn’t it.
@Goonergal hah I am just the opposite of you for work. Playing the flute requires alot of awareness of what’s going on at belly button level, for breathing and support. If my stomach is empty, I feel the “support column” as weakened. Now I think about it, what’s in my belly provides the necessary resistance for my wind column!
Ok @Chook just what is this bulletproof coffee?

Quick posting as friends coming soon for a cheese and wine evening.
Brunch ( Pilates this morning and having a supper later) advocado, prawns, lemon juice, mayonnaise and seeds mixed together and served with 5 LC herby crackers (must add that recipe to this threads low carb recipe and ideas booklet when get time to revise it)
Dinner roast chicken and cauliflower cheese and just had a coffee with a slither of remaining hotel Chocolat Yule log - I keep giving bits away but still a biggish chunk left. It’s quite rich so can only eat a little bit at a time.
Planning one or two glasses of red and range of cheeses this evening yum!
Hope everyone has a wonderful evening.

Quite a prosaic day today but some spiffing moments so hoping y'all found at least some highlights.
Only tea until 14.20 hrs when I came back from dog walk. Ate some of the beef from Sunday I was giving to them and some cheese - jarlsberg, cave aged cheddar, stilton, rutland (small pieces) and drank cocoa. Meant to have the cocoa not the other 2 things but I was very hungry.
Evening meal was beef stew from IP ; ox cheek and bone in shin in IP; beef stock with star anise which me and Heston think beef needs, also had garlic and 1 banana shallot; flaxseed; crispbread croutons (they were good) and sprouts. That was better than functional - maybe a tad gentrified.
Highlights were hitting exercise bike straight out of bed and nice chat on dog walk with local farmer.

Hi all.

An impromptu OMAD day caused by work just being too hectic. Dinner was at Five Guys. Bunless bacon cheeseburger with a bit of mayonnaise. Added an extra patty but didn’t need all of it.

Have a good evening.

@shelley262 God, it's been ages since I've had a cheese and wine evening. I'm very envious!
@ianpspurs I'm loving the sound of the beef stew with star anise. Going to have to give it a try. I love beef shin and ox cheek. I'm a big fan of short rib too.

I'm a self-confessed kitchen gadget addict and I'm sorely tempted by the IP after seeing the posts on here. I just wish I didn't have to spend money on a new microwave....it's so boring! I mostly use it to heat up leftovers!

Anyway, this is today's smorgasbord of delights.....

Breakfast: Yes, you guessed it, chia pudding. Raspberry bakewell flavoured - added almond butter, vanilla extract and almond extract. Served with a few raspberries and flaked toasted almonds. Usual fresh coffee with cream. I'm going to have a bash at the coconut milk version of the chia pudding for tomorrow.
Lunch: Leftover frittata from last night with homemade coleslaw. A couple of fresh Ottolenghi Swiss LC cookies fresh from the oven with an almond milk cappuccino with splash of cream.
Dinner: Cottage pie with celeriac mash (with cheese, butter and a couple of spare egg yolks knocking around) and broccoli. Small piece of Earl Grey HC Supermilk. Lots of hot decaf tea.

We're both feeling anxious tonight as my other half is back at the Eye Hospital for treatment for maculopathy tomorrow. It always comes around so quickly (every 4 weeks :(), but at least the treatment seems to be working. You'd think it would get easier, but every time he is terrified. Less about the injections, more about the potential for bad news. It's really tough for him. At least I've got a portion of Cottage pie tucked away for tomorrow night, as I know I won't feel like cooking when we get in.

Thinking of you and especially your husband tomorrow. Cottage pie sounds good - we now add swede as well.

Bibabee - You and your husband have come such a long way since the days you landed here, so don't feel too down about some residual, and altogether natural nerves.

I would argue the nerves are a good thing, in that he really does get the importance of looking after himself now.

Thank you. He's worked so hard to get things under control, including his anxiety. Naturally, all I want is for him to get some good news. Unfortunately, the maculopathy is the gift that keeps giving, so no let up on the injections yet. We keep plodding on and I'm very conscious things could be much worse.

Bearing in mind when he arrived there were real concerns for his sight, to have it in a holding pattern is a fantastic turnaround. I'm not really well read on maculopathy, but do know I don't envy him the treatment.

Keep fighting the good fight!

@Chook and here I thought it was some brand of super dark roasted beans That’s cool that it stops your DP. Mine seems to have already happened (when it does if ever) before I even get up, and so far my breakfast has good results. The coffee sounds delicious, maybe I’ll try some! And....of course.... now I’d have to get an immersion blender!!
@ianpspurs your spiffing moments are laudable and good, and your gentrified meal sounds delicious!
@BibaBee yummy yummy! I feel for you and Mr BB. I took my mil to one of her eye injection appointments and had to close my eyes. One of her daughters had nearly passed out on another occasion. Mil was 90 and not yet in hospice, though- not you and hubby. Hang in there, I’ll be thinking of you in my sleep ! I’m new here but it sounds like you’ve both done really well.
@Goonergal hope you get to be less hectic tomorrow!

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch: cold chicken and pistachios with cauliflower and broccoli salad followed by Greek yoghurt and blueberries.
Mid afternoon: coconut milk cappuccino at Starbucks with a Peanut Phd bar
Dinner at Wetherspoons: gammon, eggs and a side salad

Hello all.

@BibaBee -- Will be thinking of you and your husband tomorrow. Haven't gone through this myself, but can only imagine how uncomfortable it must feel.

Here's yesterday's menu (now past midnight here):

Breakfast: Two double decaffeinated espressos with cream and erythritol.

Lunch: A bowl of extail soup with Brussels sprouts, pumpkin, cream and various spices. Half a low-carb flatbread with butter.

Snack: Way too many homemade low-carb florentines (sliced almonds, erythritol, a bit of salt, clotted cream and 95% chocolate), just couldn't stop myself -- fortunately blood sugars barely moved.

Dinner: Lamb's lettuce with Caesar's dressing and parmesan. A Wiener sausage. Two sticks of manchego cheese. No wine today.

late shift last few days, so timings all kaput

B. a delicious affair with one large rasher, 6 button mushrooms, one tomato quartered and fried.
2 eggs and one and a half slices of that low carb hovis bread..two large teas..(5.7 -7.3 nice)

L Lunch was back to basics..very much a meal mum would have made,
( meat and two veg..how much did they really know, back then, hey.)
3 slices of the boiled bacon joint from yesterday, some lettuce, a tomato, some coleslaw and the 6 remaining brussels sprouts.
an eclectic mix, but very satisfying.

T tea..late night snack, some biltong, a few bits mexicana chilli cheese, one ryvita.buttered. mug of tea.

night all,
see ya in morning.
