What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Sounds like a plan, I wonder if sometimes we can try too hard and get so hung up about it, it ends up having an adverse effect.
Also it has to be sustainable, anything that makes you miserable, or seems like really hard work just isn’t going to last the distance.
(Will definitely let you know if I find the magic secret)
The secret is almost certainly there is no secret and what works for you almost certainly won't work in the same way for @Chook. I had some advice from a member called Deborah to the effect of don't try so hard. No idea what happened to her. Someone said she became an internet sensation. Some weird trick with a ladle and almond butter:angelic:

I don’t think it’s going to be anything spectacular. Need to read up!

Ooooooh. Just lob a load of "stuff" in there, with a bit of liquid (stock or whatever) and give it a deent irnoring for severral hours. Extreme deliciousness, but then for me there'd be a load of garlic and spices onboard.

Enjoy! New gadgets = new adventures

Very late checking in tonight. I've dropped my car off for it's service and MOT tomorrow....so I get a day off work but will worry all day! It's getting on a bit now and I've done a hefty mileage. :nailbiting:

Breakfast: Lemon, orange and orange flower chia pudding
Lunch: Sausage and egg muffin cups with spring onion and cheese, salad.
Snack: Small square 85% choc, almond milk cappuccino. Mr B a few spicy nuts.
Dinner: Chilli (without the beans) stuffed aubergine topped sour cream and cheese. Served with HM guacamole and salad. Almond milk cocoa with a dash of cream.

Was going to give this a ‘like’ until I read the last paragraph!
My daughter worked at the local pool, they had to shut it regularly once a week because of the same thing.
Swim nappies are readily available too. Thankfully we were nowhere near The pool either before or after the "incident".

She sounds like a wise old bird.

“Regularly”????
There is a product they apparently now use in pools that turns the water, I think green, when some unlucky person has peed in it. (“Bare!!”) Way to shame the perp!
I feel for all of you chilly folks, but this just in from Minnesota: there is some 152 mile race (ski or bike or run) every winter at this time of year. It’s currently 20 or 30 BELOW zero F, with wind chills of 50 or 60 below. They all tow little trailers with emergency supplies, and if you have a mechanical problem you are pretty much out of the race- only safe to take your gloves off for about 30 seconds. I cannot imagine!
Another day of disappointing bg’s... I don’t think I’m doing anything differently!!!!
Bfast 1/2 avocado, perfect boiled egg, decaf/soy/cream
Lunch broccoli, a cherry tom, tin of sardines with olive oil, at least a soup ladle of almond butter..., cream for the square of 90% chocolate that was soon followed by another while driving. Took Mom to my library, got me a card as I’d been purged from the system due to inactivity over 11 years lol. Makes me a tad nervous getting library hardbacks that could end up “in Brother’s room”. Brother is a sweet man who likes to walk off with stuff. No malice at all in his heart, and very little of anything but sweet emotions left in his head, and probably the need to have something to call bis own.
Supper was eaten too fast so very stuffed now. Cauli rice with a little cream, and cheese sprinkled o’ertop, at least as much swiss cheese as @Emma_369 had cheddAr, and a lc tortilla buttered. Now I have to walk in the nasty cold raw wind and rain.

@zauberflote Yes unfortunately - regularly. They also had to close the sauna once as someone thought it was a good idea to change their baby’s dirty nappy in there.

Glad you have a ladle for your almond butter too!

I understand your nervousness about the library books, I always worry I’ll lose or somehow damage them. I just buy them from charity shops now, and give them back when I’m done. I quite often end up with something I’ve read before though and not realised until I’m halfway through.

@Emma_369 loving the sound of those cheddar quarter pounders.
They are yummy - I know I could make my own burgers but in honesty, I’ll happily take any shortcut for quickness in the week and as I’m only low carb and not Keto it gives me a bit more leeway for some pre-made stuff to make my life easier. Plus whenever I try to shape my burgers the mince just doesn’t mould how I like and I end up with rugby ball shapes at different thicknesses. I’m sure there’s a gadget out there for perfect burger shaping though!

Double yuk!

The food fairy has a similar device to the one for creating stuffed burgers. Not that I eat many burgers but we have them anyhow. Tried Stilton and blue cheese but never Halloumi. Could be a plan if I ever get round to wanting a burger.

Just dipping in as I ‘m not very disciplined at posting here mainly because I am no food fairy and we dont do desserts in this house. Some of you will know that I absolutely love cooking spicy food and do a stonking curry most weekends (when stonkings available!). Anyway have just discovered prog on ITV on Sunday mornings (9.30-10.30) called Parveens Indian Kitchen which I record. Last Sunday she made spicy lamb burgers and l/c friendly coleslaw and quick chicken tikka thighs. Right up my street! The chat about burgers reminded me.

I use an egg ring (for cooking round fried eggs) to make burgers with on the odd occasion we have them. Actually I'd forgotten about burgers, Mr C is very fond of lamb burgers made with lamb mince, garlic, cumin and chopped dried apricots so I think I'll put them on the menu for next week. Thanks for the reminder. :)

Change of WOE today (although still working my way through the very low carb / carb free dinners)

Breakfast: Grilled bacon and fried eggs

Lunch: Raspberries and Greek yoghurt, square of chocolate

Dinner: Kippers and scrambled eggs

Drinks: black decaff coffee, one mug of tea with skimmed milk (my favourite drink), still spring water and a cup of Tetley Sleep tea (smells and tastes - to me - weirdly like bananas although there's no banana in it)

I've got the first few episodes downloaded and ready to watch - I know what I'll be doing this afternoon. I love spicy food too (but not very spicy hot).

@DJC3 oooo Mom might be very happy in a used book shop! We have a very high class one near her, too. Thanks for the idea! She has been a librarian much of her life, and book-filled places give her quiet joy. And what other way is there to eat almond butter?! Actually, this was spoon-tip by spoon-tip, so I could fool myself that I had control....NOT!...
@PenguinMum and @Chook I also love very flavorful but not the LEAST bit “hot” foods. My hm curry powder has about a pinch of cayenne in many tbsp of other spice. I somehow raised a son who prefers such hot foods that none of us can eat them! His ideal gift is a giant bottle of Ghost pepper sauce. He is on a waiting list for some Carolina Reaper (hottest pepper yet grown, he says) seeds but they are so dangerous to grow that he’s having second thoughts.
Today my food fairy trick will be to find that jar of spaghetti sauce that I KNOW is in the freezer! Mr ZF has a long hard day today with three meetings on top of a proposal due (hand delivered) by this afternoon, and loves him his spaghetti!

No breakfast/drinks/supplements - not with it this morning

Lunch :
2 bowls of onion soup with grated cheese and a slice soy bread 11g butter.

Steak onions n horse radish is with spinach leaves n cherry tomatoes

Cutting back on all coffee n tea as I have been using cream for lowering insulin - rather than milk which has lactose sugars. But considering that like glucose levels has a base line number, so may a certain amount of insulin be needed(just a mind game probably)
. Also no need to stock up on fat unless preparing for fast - get my fat grams quite easily.

Funnily enough, we are having lamb burgers this evening.
Very simple.
Just lamb mince, v finely chopped onion and garlic, an egg as binder, and salt and pepper.

~Smooshed together into burgers and cooked, then served with a dollop of greek yog with chopped mint and cucumber.

Also v nice with mango chutney, if that is within carb quota.

Ooo I'll have a look at that on the ITV Hub
