What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

It was a very large spoonful ( as you might have guessed)
I now cannot shake the picture of you trying to fit a ladle in your mouth

Of course it could be a little , delicate ladle like the one I have in a lead crystal gravy boat son bought me (I'm a nervous wreck every time it emerges for use).

Sympathies @Chook sometimes there doesn’t seem any rhyme or reason apart from pure cussedness.
Like you I’m flitting between different regimes trying to find the right one for me. Good luck.

You are so right. When you find the right one could you let me in on the secret. Please. Pretty please :(

Going lower and zero carb definitely doesn't seem to work for me, so i think I'll go back to standard two meal a day keto (under 20g carbs) for a bit to see if that helps - and ignore the FBG for a while. Might even increase to 30-40g as an experiment.

Breakfast
Hibiscus tea
Supplements
Coffee/cream

Lunch
Brussel sprouts friend in bacon fat)
Roast Chicken leg
Broccoli cheese sauce bacon bits

Dinner
Onion soup

4 x coffee n cream

Felt mean eating my Brussels with the bacon fat - it was so sweet - made me feel so full. My family eat very little fat, I felt cruel keeping benefits to myself - so added bacon to broccoli cheese bake.
Remembered English rhyme- Jack Sprat could eat no fat his wife could no lean, together they licked platter clean

My diet is weight loss diet of about 1000 calories a day - avoiding carbs

Since diagnosis 8 weeks ago - have lost 11lbs in last 4 weeks.

Hi all

Bit late posting today - been out to collect my new toy from the Amazon locker (see attached) and to Waitrose to pick up baking supplies.

@ianpspurs the hunk of meat does indeed sound appealing.

@Chook those BG readings seem a bit random. I was getting some pretty bonkers ones a bit before Christmas. Carnivory seems to have sorted them out. Hope you find a solution soon.

@Emma_369 loving the sound of those cheddar quarter pounders.

@DJC3 a ladle would fit into those giant 1kg tubs of almond butter :D

And to get back on topic. Today’s menu was lunch of 3 rashers bacon and 2 fried eggs at the cafe near work and dinner of ribeye steak with garlic butter followed by extra thick double cream. Plenty of tea with cream during the day.

Tomorrow will start planning first use of new toy.

Bed 5.4 FBG 5.3 but it was on a rise from 3.2. I'd been awake for a while as my hip and leg had seized up then just when I was settling hubby started coughing. Then when I checked the BGs I couldn't settle until I knew they were going up a little. Felt fine though.
B. Tassimo Americano grande with a dash of cream.
L. Well more brunch. After my early morning jaunt to school, I was home for 30 mins then off to the chiropodist. Back from there, I scrambled a couple of eggs and had them with a bit of Mattesons smoked sausage.
D. Went to pick up boys from After School - No 1 is still happy , No 2 trying to convince me he'd been good. Jury still out! Debated what on earth I wanted to eat. It was one of these days where I didn't fancy anything. Then brainwave - I removed my last portion of Tripe alla Romana from the freezer. Delicious, BGs haven't budged, but now I'm desperately searching for a nearby supplier of Tripe.
There was some debate about whether school swimming is on tomorrow (it affects my morning schedule) as the pool was closed today. Turns out it was a "Brown Alert" and they had to close for cleaning and disinfecting. All it well now though.

Enjoy your new toy

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch: salmon with cauliflower and broccoli salad followed by Greek yoghurt and raspberries.
Mid afternoon: coffee chia pudding and black coffee.
Dinner: chicken, coconut and lemongrass stir fry with extra bean sprouts in place of noodles, followed by SF jelly, cream and LC chocolate granola.

If it contained almond butter I’d probably fit it in somehow.
Oh goodness, a crystal gravy boat! I’d be a nervous wreck too.

Chocolate and wine
Dinner lasted 45 mins, should I still test two hours from start?

total calories 1810, carbs 95
still have 57 calories left. First time I have managed to (nearly) hit the target.

edited to add update
10.20pm BG 5.1 tested again at 11.05pm just out of curiosity BG 5.6
Guessing that was the chocolate hitting the system.
Dont think relying on chocolate and wine for calorie boost is sustainable.

Sounds like a plan, I wonder if sometimes we can try too hard and get so hung up about it, it ends up having an adverse effect.
Also it has to be sustainable, anything that makes you miserable, or seems like really hard work just isn’t going to last the distance.
(Will definitely let you know if I find the magic secret)

FBG 8.8 this morning. I don't think this OMAD is suiting my metabolism at all (although I've not felt hungry and it feels 'right' mentally). So I'm at a bit of a loss. I think I'll go back to having some breakfast tomorrow to stop the FBG from going any higher. I am tempted to do a 48 hour fast to see what happens. It can't get any worse. :banghead:

Today's OMAD meal will be baked gammon with a side of slow cooked red cabbage. Drinks will be black decaff coffee or still spring water.
Chook, if you have been very, very low carb, could you have been building up some physiological insulin resistance?

If it is physiological insulin resistance, as I understand it, mixing things up a bit should help. @Brunneria it tip-top on PIR.

@Goonergal I’m looking forward to seeing what you make in your slow cooker. The IP can be used as a slow cooker but I haven’t done anything in it yet so might copy some ideas

Was going to give this a ‘like’ until I read the last paragraph!
My daughter worked at the local pool, they had to shut it regularly once a week because of the same thing.
