What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I’m not sure how but I forgot to post yesterday.. so yesterday I was 6.1 and today I’m 4.9 I’m pottering along,.. my throat seems to have stopped hurting and it’s heading towards yet another version of a cold. Oh hum ...

I was thinking about you the other day. I wondered about these colds ... I wondered if you've started on any new meds that may be compromising your immune system. I'm glad your throat stopped hurting. :)

Thank you xx I was thinking along a similar line too. I talked to my doc last week and it’s been one of those springs where several strains of a similar cold virus have been circulating. My meds haven’t changed so we I think I’m either patient zero or just having an unlucky time if it..

Well, its a not entirely unsurprising 6.7 from me - having been up since 3am with D&V . Could have been yesterday’s lunchtime mussels or the fact that I sat in full sun for 2 hrs then came home and cut the lawn also in full sun. I never usually sit out in the sun without suncream or a hat at least. I was trying to get my vit D level up as a recent blood test said I was low. Think I’ll just take a supplement in future.
@Bubbsie and @jjraak I laughed at both your cat comments -
. I don’t think I’ll ever understand them but can’thelp but delight in their non conformist attitude.
Hug for the D&V - took me 2 looks to work that out. Too much sun sans hat may well be the culprit. Cutting lawns - not something I am familiar with:angelic: Have a rest, plenty of fluids and stay in the shade.

ref your sometimes TV show McGarrett 5.0. Off topic. In the full title/credit sequence of Hawaii Five O, the girl windsurfer leans back and does a "head dip", a trick I used to do while sailing my Laser One. (geek warning, it is a 90 degree action, so looking forward, the horizon goes vertical, cool eh?). But on the **** cable/sat titles that is cut!!! Bring back the Good Old Days.

Edit later. Sorry, I'm losing the plot. It was "Miami Vice". (No wonder I couldn't see it on your 5.0 sequence)

Thanks so much I do feel better but just not right. Our youngest is now back from Bath to write his dissertation over the summer and try and get some p/t work. However he is living with his girlfriend about 20 miles away, she is in her first job and has a flat. He dips in to us every now and again which is lovely. Eldest son is moving to Dublin to work by the end of June though he has been in London for several years.

You must be very proud of them, it’s wonderful when children are mature and successful and able to fly the nest. Tinged with sadness too when we don’t see them so often.
My girls may have thought they’d made the break when they’ve all ended up in Cornwall. Not sure they were expecting Us to move down here too - they’ll probably all up sticks and go to Yorkshire now lol!

Thanks for the hug. I did think of you yesterday while I was cutting the grass. It certainly felt like good exercise when I was doing it. I’ll be glad when MrC’s back is better and he can take the chore back though.

As lovely as Yorkshire is I cant imagine anyone wanting to leave Cornwall. Its just that I dont want to be too far from the boys is stopping me. ES will fly into London when he returns for w/es as he has Arsenal season ticket (look away Ian:singing:) and for the time being we are looking after his car. Also I need to dind out my eye treatment goes as it may take a while. I think its really lovely for you all to be there together. I will be counting the days soon!

If your son is to be Dublin based he would be much better watching Leinster so he could see top class sport:angelic:

good morning all :)

4.8 for me today

and it's still chucking it down with rain here after a whole day of rain yesterday, we'll probably go out for lunch today, I have to deliver an amigurumi owl I was asked to crochet for someone from a kit she won in a raffle , I've never made anything like it before but it turned out pretty well I think, I hope she likes it :)

We managed to get some weed and feed put down on the lawn at mum's yesterday, there is a fair bit of moss creeping into it so we're also going to aerate it (when it eventually stops raining :D ), then we'll add some more grass seed.
We all got pretty wet walking the dog yesterday but it was worth it to see her bounding about in the wet grass and enjoying herself  then she'll get her coat clipped on Wednesday which will help her with the heat (assuming we get some more ;) ) and with the drying off period after 'puddlehound' walks.

@ianpspurs hugs, it's enough without being creaky too isn't it? :)
@poemagraphic well done indeed and well deserved ;)

Hope your day treats you kindly :)
Great numbers for you gee... You said "poemagraphic well done indeed and well deserved ;)
It is down to team work G... Strict diet planning, lots of great advice from this site and the fantastic members here.

It is.
I remember when my baby son was very ill in the late 1970's, our GP came to the house. Despite the urgency, it was important for our GP, an elderly gentleman, to be smartly well dressed with waistcoat and pocket watch, long jacket, and immaculate white spats on his highly polished shoes. I had to carry my son from upstairs to downstairs, and literally lay my nearly lifeless son out on my dining room table so he could be examined....the doctor was good...and my son is a strapping adult now...but that doctor was from another era...and I have never ever had a dining room table since then...

You only have to blink now and systems have changed completely, and you have to work them out, and you don't even know the terms used in order to work them out. Sometimes I feel too old now...I would like stuff to stay the same...

>^..^<
Some things stay with you forever... Big hugs!

Sorry for the lateness of my post (I was actually busy at work this morning!!!) a 6.9 greeted me at the window to our sugary life today. And I have been chasing the Blood Sugar rainbow all day today as it has been on a steady climb. 8, then 13, then 15 have now just checked it and it is down to 8. seems I have a fluctuation going on, but nothing I can't handle (oh and a shed load of insulin). Enjoy what is left of the day everyone.
Not as late as me... Keep on keeping on John!

5.7 today. Late to post. Seen I have 77 posts to catch up on too! Best get cracking. First here's my bit of chat.......

Its diabetes week commencing 10th June and I'm coordinating 2 clinics with my surgeries. They have confirmed I have rooms for 10th and 12th so I'm really happy. Going to try and complete the simple leaflet I'm planning for then (still only in my head!). 'Controlling blood sugars the low carb way' or something to that effect! 2 or 3 pages. One being a food and drink list and the first being the basics. Maybe will include a weekly planner showing what I have. Anyway it's a work in progress (sort of!! .). Hoping my surgery like it. If they do I'm sending it around the world! . forever the optimist.

Here's my email to my surgery today, sent after they confirmed my clinics, I just wanted them to know people are listening....and taking action....and getting results:

'Brilliant. Thank you both.

This month's diabetics meeting at Tesco. RESULT!!!

When I went last Wednesday 2 ladies came up to me to tell me some good news. The first lady who chairs the meetings, has made small changes to her diet. Swapped potatoes for celeriac (what she can't do with celeriac can fit on a postage stamp). Cut down (not out), on the usual carby culprits too and lost 7lb (not massively overweight to start with). But the best news is that she has gone from 45 units twice a day to 25!!!! Not even been doing it long Second lady who I noticed had lost quite a bit of weight and looked so happy with herself has gone from 110kg to 88kg! Over 3 stone 4lb lost! Hba1c down from 95 to 54!!! These are long term diabetics. I wrote down their results so I wouldn't forget. My heart was singing. I arrived at 2.30 on the dot and they immediately shared their news. They were so excited.

2 young ladies were there from diabetes.org.uk to collect cheque (we hold monthly raffles). They mentioned a volunteer networking day to be held in Manchester Friday 7th June. Usually about 50 attend. Food provided. I'm really busy but might be able to squeeze it in. I feel I have to go!

Im going to show a short video (5 minutes or so) each month at the Tesco meeting on various things. For example Insulin resistance, what makes us hungry, sugar addiction etc. Chair has a projector so that will be good.

Just working on my next presentation too. Incorporating weight loss and how I did it (low carb). Not for everyone but it suits me and many others. Maintaining really well too both weight and hba1c. Officially in remission Debbie told me.

Copied diabetic nurse in.

Debra'

What an inspiration you are Debs... Keep sticking it to um! pun intended.
You are a STAR

An amazing 5.5 when I got to test about 50 mins after getting up. Awoke to barking from 1 dog went down to see what the issue was. The other dog who was at the vet yesterday with an anal abscess had managed to get it to burst. I will refrain from describing the mess as some may be eating. I have now cleaned the dog and the carpet and the kitchen floor!
I hope your days have had better starts!
Great news... not kidding! Lucky little doggies... Poor you!
