Yesterday’s intake:
Breakfast: usual slice HiLo toast, butter, tea x2.
Lunch: can of mackerel and small avocado.
Supper: cheese & tomato omelette. Handful walnuts.
Coffee, tea and water.

@DJC3 hug for the annoying BG readings. I think it just throws a strop sometimes and all we can do is keep going with wise choices. It certainly happens to me.

Baked butter beans with some of the sausage meat balls I made the other day for breakfast.
Lunch will be a kind of Greek salad - with or without Feta, haven't decided yet
I'll make some vegetable soup for this evening. I have some veg stock in the fridge which needs using up. That plus some leeks, cauliflower, peppers, squash and maybe a carrot should make a reasonable soup.
Got a copy of the Caldesi book yesterday "The Diabetes Weight-loss Cookbook". Looks interesting.

I am back on the hunt for a good non wheat pasta...pasta is one of the things I miss most since being diagnosed as T2...yesterday I found the best alternative spaghetti I have tried so far...so a huge plate of spaghetti & home made Bolognese sauce was my lunch...for me it was just as good as the 'real thing'

soya pasta.jpg

At 12.9 carbs per 100gms my 25gm portion worked out at just under 4gms of crabs and 83.25 calories (333 calories per 100gms)..I have tried other non wheat pastas however for texture & taste this is the best so far...bought this on Amazon it may be available elsewhere too.

I bought "Amaizin" soya bean noodles, also from Amazon. It states 37.7 grams carbs per 100 grams, so yours looks to be a better option. The ones I have are made purely from Soya, do yours have anything else in them? The texture of these ones is a bit hard, even when cooked and then finished off in the sauce and not really very appetising. I did have some Edamame noodles, bought from a health food shop in Inverness last time we were there. Texture was not great, taste was a bit bitter and I haven't seen them since anyway, but the lack of BG spike was amazing to me.

The ingredients are listed as organic soya beans water & salt...I have tried others but these have the best texture appearance & taste so far...recommended cooking time is 4-6 minutes I cooked them for a little longer to swell the strands...no odd smell and with the sauce I could convince myself I was eating some good pasta.

Evenin’ All!

Did I post yesterday?
Can’t remember.

B: bone broth
L: think it was cheese and ham cream cheese rollups
D: homemade curry (phal)

Today
B: bone broth and a dollop greek yog with a teasp strawb jam.
L: chicken kebabs in airfryer, piri spices in greek yog as a marinate. Lush.
Not sure I will need anything else today, but if I do... i suspect it will be haloumi fries with Geeta’s pickle.

Another "interesting" day where T2 and LC food were low down on the list but I think I got there. B = tea then skinny bread toast, well buttered. Mid morning I had CWC (there is a reason for some of these changes). Lunch time (ish) was pilchards (in tomato sauce) and cucumber sandwich - I had forgotten how functional I find that combo - followed by 170 gms Fage 5% and 80 gms h/g raspberries. Now eating whitebait and avocado salad - another very functional combo for me. Drank lots of water and sat about watching transfer deadline day. Food suited me which is all it needs to do.

Hi all.

A (very) hungry day today.

Breakfast was a Diet Doctor breakfast sandwich - 2 rashers back bacon, 2 fried eggs and a small amount of vintage cheddar. Thought that might do until dinner, but no such luck. Ate a bag of M&S Milano Salami crisps and a 20g piece of cheese as lunch.

Dinner was slow cooked middle neck of lamb. Delicious.

Eye screening tomorrow so will be another slow cooker dinner to avoid blurry eyed accidents in the kitchen.

It's great. Made lots of things. Made the seed crackers today which are going to be amazing for lunches etc. Really tasty and took about 2 mins.

So today,

Breakfast
Halloumi, mushrooms, avocado and smoked salmon. V posh!

Lunch
Tried a slice of high protein bread from Tesco, had it with brie. Only went up 3 points after lunch from 5.4 to 8.4 so occasional slice maybe ok.

Dinner
Spag bol with courgette spag.

Altogether, have more appetite and I'm working to get more calories in everyday.

I buy this one in Tesco, slightly higher carb (13.1g/100g) than the one you’ve tried, but very nice. I use it to make carbonara, it’s very filling so only need to have a small portion.

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch: M&S chorizo bites (a bit too chewy for my liking!) with leafy salad, sweet pepper and onion followed by Greek yoghurt and raspberries.
Mid afternoon: coconut chia pudding and black coffee.
Dinner: mature cheddar omelette and stir fried veggies followed by SF jelly, cream and LC chocolate granola

After the confusion of the family turning up most days- for birthdays and unbirthdays - it has quietened down now. But I couldn’t sleep until after 2 last night. Too much standing had made my back sore.
Today has been quiet- apart from having my hair done it’s peaceful, just what I needed.
Tea
No breakfast
Cwc then berries with yoghurt
2 baby bel, nuts.
Evening chicken veg stirfry in curry sauce. Cauli rice. Yoghurt and berries (yes I know - my weakness). Glass white.
Daughter and family are at my favourite place in the world. Swakopmund in Namibia. I never swim there, it’s too cold for me, but I always loved to go. Best food there too. We lived in Namibia for 5 years.

@mouseee and @Annb I bought the Caldesi book last week and agree it is great. We’ve had a couple of dishes from it including this evening’s monkfish, all lovely.

@Bubbsie thanks for the pasta recommendation. I enjoy a bit of Amazon therapy in the evenings so will get some.
Today’s breakfast was smoked salmon and scrambled eggs then out down the lane by our house on a litter pick with granddaughters which doubled up as a dog walk so everyone happy and exercised before the weather turned bad.
Lunch was ham and cabbage soup bunged in IP before going out, made with yesterday’s leftovers. Sf jelly and cream.
Girls went home later this aft so just Mr C and I for dinner, we had the last portions of monkfish I’d made on Tues with broccoli and sautéed spuds for him. A bit of cheese afterwards.

@Viv19 that is a glorious picture.
@PenguinMum I agree, sometimes BG just throws a strop - good phrase.

Lunch yesterday: Toasted cheese and Vegemite sandwiches.
Dinner: Steak and veggies, gravy.
Breakfast: Cheesey mushroom omelette, bacon, tomatoes, reheated spudlite.

Drinks: Black coffee / tea no sugar sweeteners, water.

All good moderate lchf stuff that has kept my weight stable between 95 - 96 kgs and reduced my hba1c / bgl.

Well after the really dreadful weather yesterday we actually got through today with no rain which was good as it was annual pilgrimage to Clarks day for new school shoes, trainers and black plimsols. No 1 is highly delighted to be a "Big" size 1. Today was also school haircut day as they go back next Wednesday. More thunderstorms forecast tomorrow but I am going with SIL and both grandsons to Dinosaur Zoo at the Fringe. Been before when No 1 was about 3 but he can't remember it. Must admit that you tend to forget the Dinosaurs are operated by people. At least it's a break from the ceiling collapse. SIL/BIL now back in Australia too. @DJC3 - I agree. BGs do just take a strop sometimes. Thankfully mine seem to be stabilising again. Impressed by the zip wire though. Bed 5.9 FBG 7 (slept a bit later today).
B. TAG with ADOC and 1/2 a boiled egg to stop the DP rise.
L. Nothing
D. After the shoe pilgrimage we went to M&S and amongst other things I got 4 each of the salami, chorizo and ham crisps - great carb content @Goonergal. Odd that they were in the deli section. So had a pack of the serrano ham crisps and a repeat of yesterday's meal - lamb chops with mint, GF sausage and a salad of lettuce, tomato, cucumber, 1/2 avocado and helmans.
Coffee and a Grenade double chocolate biscuit.
Fingers crossed that the asbestos report comes tomorrow as I'm fed up being banned from my bedroom.

Good luck with the asbestos report @maglil55 and well done for getting school shoes sorted. I used to hate that day and have managed to avoid it with grandchildren so far.
The Dinosaur zoo sounds brilliant, I shall look it up and maybe bring the girls up for a treat next year. Oldest is particularly keen on dinosaurs ( all children seem to go through that phase don’t they?) we spent yesterday afternoon making origami ones - not quite as impressive as a whole zoo.
To keep on track - the Serrano ham crisps from M&S were definitely my favourite.
Glad your BGs have stabilised now.

They're an Australian group. They tour all over the place. There's a video here and quite a few on youtube.
