Well after the really dreadful weather yesterday we actually got through today with no rain which was good as it was annual pilgrimage to Clarks day for new school shoes, trainers and black plimsols. No 1 is highly delighted to be a "Big" size 1. Today was also school haircut day as they go back next Wednesday. More thunderstorms forecast tomorrow but I am going with SIL and both grandsons to Dinosaur Zoo at the Fringe. Been before when No 1 was about 3 but he can't remember it. Must admit that you tend to forget the Dinosaurs are operated by people. At least it's a break from the ceiling collapse. SIL/BIL now back in Australia too. @DJC3 - I agree. BGs do just take a strop sometimes. Thankfully mine seem to be stabilising again. Impressed by the zip wire though. Bed 5.9 FBG 7 (slept a bit later today).
B. TAG with ADOC and 1/2 a boiled egg to stop the DP rise.
L. Nothing
D. After the shoe pilgrimage we went to M&S and amongst other things I got 4 each of the salami, chorizo and ham crisps - great carb content @Goonergal. Odd that they were in the deli section. So had a pack of the serrano ham crisps and a repeat of yesterday's meal - lamb chops with mint, GF sausage and a salad of lettuce, tomato, cucumber, 1/2 avocado and helmans.
Coffee and a Grenade double chocolate biscuit.
Fingers crossed that the asbestos report comes tomorrow as I'm fed up being banned from my bedroom.

How awful having your ceiling fall in Maglil55 - I’m sort of catching up with posts I’d only skimmed before. I do hope it’s all sorted soon and you can use your bedroom again.
The shoe expedition is one that I used to dread. One year I thought I’d be clever and buy the new shoes at the beginning of the holidays and get the hassle behind me. Ha! By the time school rolled round again, their feet had grown and the new shoes were too tight! You live and learn. :))

Can anyone advise about intermittent fasting? I've noted that a few people on this site mention fasting days. I think I have to try this route since, despite low carbing, I am doing no more (at best) than maintaining a slightly elevated level of BG. And I'm certainly not losing weight. I think my blood pressure is better than it used to be, although not as low as it could be most of the time. No point asking my health professionals about this - I know what their answer will be - "don't do it!"

So far today I have had some of the soup which gave me such a good result yesterday evening and this morning. It wasn't good for my bowel problems and I have had to take large doses of loperamide to get it under control.

I'd probably be better skipping lunch as a result of that.

Dinner - roast chicken, but I might go very easy on the vegetables. Salad would have been OK but I can't get to the shops and my granddaughter scoffed all my tomatoes and cucumber yesterday afternoon - along with another half tub of soft cheese. Her dad (No 2 son) had told me she doesn't like tomatoes so I had just left them on the counter after lunch. One by one they were popped (whole) into her mouth. I did offer her some of the cucumber but found her dipping the last of it into the soft cheese to scoop it up. Not that I mind letting her have it - it's much better than the junk some other kids eat.

Dislikes
football, both the game and the culture.
Yesterday, breakfast nut granola and eggs, Lunch Salad etc
Dinner: eating out melon and parma ham, duck leg and chips, Salad garnish. Panna cotta.
Paying for the carbs today.. dash to the loo every hour on the hour until about 12pm.
All day work on electrical circuits but
we still got no lights in kitchen, or power to anything now that temporary circuit has been removed. Could do without the rain as well.
Daughter and family arriving in less than 24 hours.
MrSlims pal also arriving tomorrow. STRESS levels are massive.

Aaahhhh Friday! It has been a looooong week..

Just spent a whole 20 mins in the kitchen (shocking, I know) prepping the lamb rump steaks.

Half have been placed in a tandoori marinade.
Half have been put in a garlic, rosemary, olive oil, salt and pepper marinade.
All bagged up in (large) portions.
Then one portion of each into fridge, and the rest into freezer, where they can marinate while freezing and defrosting. :D

Going to have the first tandoori steaks later tonight.

Quite enough cooking for one day! ;)

B was 3 low carb sausages
L was a blob of goatsmilk yog.
Will be very ready for all that steak!

To all gin lovers @DJC3 and @Bubbsie take note this morning in Sainsbury found Whitleys Blood Orange gin for £14. Just poured on with ST...delicious...if I can have oranges (my favourite fruit) it seems I have found another way!

I’m still trying to find low cal Schweppes tonic here. It doesn’t seem to be a drink the Germans like.

Was out today

Brunch
LC crackers and brie, just a couple.

Felt like I was low but didn't have meter with me. Went dizzy and felt a bit off. I had a polo as if decided that it was more likely low than high as numbers have been really good. 5.6 pretty much all the time and only going up 1 or 2 after food. I have no idea if this was the best idea so happy to be told it wasn't!

Sat on the seafront watching and listening to the sea with an almond milk latte and a packet of kettle chips.... just a small one as I was starving at this point and it was the only thing I knew I could safely eat at the cafe. Wish I'd spotted the crab and prawn cocktail earlier or if have gone for that!

Dinner
Pork chop again with mushroom cream sauce and courgetti again.

@ Annb.
Re intermittent fasting
I don’t know whether this would suit you, but the main reason I started leaving off breakfast (apart from drinking cups of tea) was because I had diarrhea and hoped that having a complete rest would help. It did, and I’ve got used to it now. Except for weekends as I’ve said before. So eating dinner between 6.30 and 7.30, then lunch next day between 12 and 1.30, I suppose it was intermittent fasting. Without the label.
I tried not to take immodium - after living in places like Thailand where we all had the runs regularly, we had to take it often. But it is a bit like a pendulum. It stops everything, then swings to the other direction becoming less over the next days. But it can mess up your digestion for a while. And if you react to the diarrhea/constipation with meds each time it can cause some problems. Only my experience though.

Evening all. Low energy day for me once again. B= tea and skinny bread toast with butter - don't usually eat B but need to take antibiotics atm. Lunch was cheese and avocado salad followed by 5% Fage, raspberries and 10 cal jelly. Evening was h/b egg and avocado salad. Will need to eat a little something later for another antibiotic.

Sorry to hear you are under the weather (now theres an apt phrase) but your food did sound nutritious and I always think when you are unwell you have to sometimes swerve LC a little bit, small toast with your next pill? Take care.

Evening all.

Two meals again today, plus a sneaky snack.

Lunch was 4 rashers bacon and 2 fried eggs with a little grated cheese. About an hour later finished off the remainder of the cake I baked for work - less than half a slice, with a bit of cream on top.

Dinner was slow cooked oxtail. Yum!

@Annb here’s a link to a quick guide to intermittent fasting:

https://www.dietdoctor.com/intermittent-fasting

I try to eat within a 5 hour window and fast in between. This is usually lunch around 12 or 1pm and dinner between 5 and 6. Tend towards the earlier times. I also try to do at least one day a week where I eat only one meal, usually at the weekend. Used to do a lot more often but it’s harder now I’ve dropped a lot of weight. It was a game changer for both BG and weight loss.

View attachment 34774 Just had to pop back to post my tandoori lamb steak pic:

How did you cook your tandoori chops?

This evening, we had a sort of chipshop dinner. MrB had F&C, with mushy peas (and has just snaffled some salted caramel Haagen Dazs and HM clotted cream). I had a couple of Asda's finest triple chilli sausage (delish), with a few of MrB's chips and some mushy peas. It's an odd combo, but it's oddly delicious.

Even though we bought a small portion of chips, even after both of us had tucked in, more than half went out.

Airfryer. :D 20 mins at 170 degrees (because my airfryer seems to run HOT and I am knocking 20 odd degrees off every recipe).

It's a great, fun thing. Looks like you'll more than get your money's worth from yours.
