What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

4.7 this morning

Painting today. Painted most of yesterday. Hall landing and stairs including goodness knows how many spindles. Only undercoat but already looking lovely.

I'm writing to the health secretary and western Sussex hospital about the attached today at some point. It makes my blood boil.

Advise for pre diabetics- top of the list of the starchy carbs list is pasta, closely followed by rice, bread, potatoes, porridge, etc etc shocking.

good morning from Birmingham Airport. just had breakfast and on second koffy.
the wonder wheel of driving in the rain and "incident ahead, would you like to re-route?" issued a 5.8 this am

have a great day if you can.

Woke to a 2.3 mouthful of jelly babies now 4.6 and about to have breakfast so alls well have a good day everyone
Hug for the hypo but absolute legend for soldiering on through adversity. Hope the rest of your day continues the upward trend - bg levels not so much please.

Morning All. 7 today though I dont really get it. Had Nandos (chicken thigh + veg) at 6pm. Nibbled rollitos later. Sorry for all the HFBGs @gennepher fascinating stuff about the different salmon and @OldButBold hope you start to improve real soon, when you have a bad infection that makes things very tricky. @ianpspurs hope the chemo goes well and you can be nourished throughout. @Debandez I am unable to access the link about the West Sussex hospital, can you just paraphrase what its about since itbis in my area. @SaskiaKC hope the shoulder pain has eased up. Wishing that all of you who are under the weather soon turn the corner.
Have a good day everyone. Stsy well, stay safe and get better.

Sorry to hear of your higher bg level. Chemo will be fine. Very short and targeted into bladder with no real side effects. Nourished part is as likely as me winning the Grand National on a rocking horse unless I can find a wizard wheeze.

So, for some reason, it appears, this brand of apple smoked ready to eat salmon raised my blood sugars alarmingly, but what frightened me was my blood sugars did not go back down of their own accord. This particular brand of apple smoked ready to eat salmon had 3 carbs as opposed to 1 carb of my regular ready to eat salmon, for the same weight. So, the carbs in themselves are not such a big deal, but something in that brand of salmon really upset my blood sugars, and raised them.
@gennepher maybe the carbs were not accurate on the packaging - or maybe there was another additive used that your body is especially sensitive to.

By a stroke of luck I found I am especially sensitive to a higher dose of biotin. It causes severe night cramps which only very high doses of salt stop.

The vitamin Bs that I took for years and years had 300ug of biotin and I have had night cramps for years and years. Switched to Bs with 50ug no cramp. I only have to take one of the high biotin Bs and get cramp that night. No more having to take extra salt either.

Searched internet - no one else in the world seems to have this problem. Was it the biotin or was it something else. The low dose biotin from the same company causes no problem. Who knows.

The joys of Sat Nav, to believe them or not to believe them that is the question?

Have a great time and enjoy the birthday party.

@ianpspurs good luck with your treatment. Thank goodness for the NHS.you sound very positive.
Thanks. I agree with the NHS sentiment. They provided fast and effective treatment back in August. Yes, I am positive about the treatment element whilst being honest about this WOE being the bigger threat. You really can't put lipstick on a pig. I know and respect the fact this WOE has been amazing for you and many others.

It is very odd isn’t it?

Also the online gurus also suggest we have higher doses of this that and the other to sort us out, but I have never quite subscribed to that. There is possibly a different optimum level for each person.

I will have another look at my vitamin B supplement to check what’s in it and doses.

Thanks for that info.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and those on prednisolone, it really makes controlling blood sugars difficult. I am on 10mg a day for life and have been for many many years.
I crept up on my meter this morning and surprised the **** thing so it spat a 6.4 out. It is now sulking behind the kettle.

Well folks, clearly some of you are not well, best wishes and get well soon from me and the other 5 of me's. I hope you all have a good day. Those traveling short or long distances have a safe journey, smile sweetly, break wind silently then glare at a total stranger. I always accuse Mrs J who is not amused, but then she married me.
I now must go I have spotted some Jehovah's witnesses wandering up the road hehehehe.

5.3 this morning, when I turned over an went back to sleep after taking meds, then when I woke at 10 am I decided I’m not going volunteering today. In other news the Xmas pudding is now finished pics included, I’m trying to decide if I bead the black ditties bracelet or the train carriage next.

Hugs to all making their way into a miserable monday by the sounds of it.

@gennepher ..really odd how fumes (smoke) would add to the BG levels
and agree the highs scares, but when it doesn't go down as we hope..even more so.:woot:
hope it settles back to more normal fbg levels.

@Rockman..oh mate, that can't be a nice feeling either.
is there some reason you can point to ?..i find if i get a high, knowing what it was, is all part of the learning curve.
a little like no news is good news..bad Bg is good BG IF you can nail what caused it..(and avoid again, obv ;) )

@karen8967 ..oh, poor you..how worrying to wake up that low..god bless the jelly babies..hope the day settles back down for you and no further recurrences at least for a good while..

@HarryBeau ..i know ho much you enjoy west brom..hope the trips as joyous as always....
( keep an eye to the skies, for warning signs ..them wanting monies can be right sneaky *******;) )

@OldButBold ..mate,you know the chest thing is the important one to manage , at least for today & tomorrow.
but i hope the disruption is short lived and you too are back in range real soon.
take care my friend.

@ianpspurs ..best wishes for the upcoming treatment, liking the positivity i am hearing, never nice to get news that maybe we need chemo, but the info you gave does convey the message that all who are in this with you, have high hopes for a successful series of sessions.

Take good care of yourself Ian,
Not easy as you rightly describe, but i'd like to think the body IS the machine, and the diet is us tinkering and applying polish and additives as required for OUR needs.
and we can't do that unless the machine itself is kept fit for purpose..so a slight downgrade of the T2D management, seems a sensible and worthy step, if it brings you back up to better health in the coming few weeks ..good luck my friend.

@Debandez
it's just groundhog day in treatment style for many with type 2, it seems

@dunelm ..safe trip, best wishes for a great birthday party for dad.
happy 90th @dunelms dad..M16Q1AL.

@PenguinMum ..i know it's not what you want as an fbg, but i gave a winner sticker, cos it's under the bar at least,
i've found an unexpected high, can be from previous days, once i set a mind to back track.
it's like we win the battle on the day, but one or two 'Sugar Guerilla fighters' get left behind to plan sneak attacks ..
and yes i do liken it to a daily battle, ( though more a civil insurrection)
as we plan our campaign and use strategies, most days we win, but now and again we lose the day, but mop up and move ever onwards.

@alf_Josiah ..i hope you ALL'S ( ;) ) have a good day :D
@Fndwheelie ..fairly moving on with those items now,, good scores to boot.

@Krystyna23040
fascinating when i read about that, how odd yet wonderful you could find out and the drop reacted as expected..
the Body IS a wonderful and weird being, that stays very tight lipped about it's secrets, don't you think ?

Thank goodness we have THIS forum as a conduit for some pertinent information, i frankly would NEVER have known about if it wasn't for the good people on here...(B12 depletion not even mentioned by any HCP :wideyed:)
