You missed Carry on Up the Kyber - think that’s what it was called

"The Devils in skirts!" ;)

Let's not forget the "historically accurate" & heavily researched. CO Henry, CO **** Turpin, & the CO set during the French Revolution..? :D

To my utter amazement, I've had a great day 1 on my DAFNE course. I was in the foulest of moods, (and have been for some time - every time I thought I was getting over it, I wasn't!) and not necessarily up for it. It's been acknowledged that for most of our group, we've already worked out a lot of what does and doesn't work for us as individuals, but most of us are after fine-tuning that and have been enjoying swapping stories. We're a mixed bunch of ages and types, but finding a lot of common ground! I didn't even have to explain LADA to anyone! Not sure my brain likes the CP idea but it's livable with whilst I have to.

I now have a shiny new meter to replace my trusty original clinic-issued one which is no longer being made and hopefully will be switching from flex pens to Echo pens and cartridges. I might even be getting a half-unit pen as I had enough evidence with me to prove that it would be helpful.

Think this two weeks of doing stuff just for me is probably very well-timed. Especially if we're going to be as efficient as we were today and got let out early! I got a heap of tasks done on the way home which also cheered me up no end - several of them have been frustratingly difficult to achieve. (Phone shops who have the phone I want on the display unit, but can't actually get hold of them and try to sell me what I don't want - you are top of the list of frustrations. Finally, I found one in the local supermarket... I'm cheap and basic in the phone department, don't need a bundle or contract as I don't use enough texts/calls per month and don't need data.)

Hello friends,

Utterly exhausted and manager wants me in again for a full day. I have less than 24hrs to wash all my uniforms and dry it before tomorrow :( Unfortunately I’ve hypoed all night and I didn’t get up until now to treat it. I did speak to my manager before she set our rotas, I put down I can manage 4-5hrs x 4-5days per week but I understand 3 days x 8 -13 hours is possible too. Unfortunately I’m not managing the extremely long hours well. I’ll go back to dwelling until my wash cycle is finished.

Bring it on I say.. Christmas is comming & the tips for waiting must be on the rise? (Parties, work nights out & wot not?)

Oddly, where I am. Disapointingly (& a bit of a confidence crusher.) I failed in the department of QC.. Some of the guys I was with seemed to have a god like status I wasn't entitled to. Though to my mind, the job & department was in disarray. Somehow i also get the feeling I was screwed over & set up to fail? Rough idea but no proof & not worth pursuing.

Where I am now. Back by "popular demand" (I did a stint in this department a while back.) right in "the thick of it." First day, ahead of the game.. The day just flies.! Some great support from the "front liners " too.

Appointment for my eyes next week. New team leader & manager. Total gems. Manger knows the score anyway. Some of the guys don't think much of him. He's "dynamic," but to me a great support.

Lol, was Libreless today. Didn't have time to change the "timed out" sensor from last night. (Infact it's still intact. So, still attached in spirit.)
Gonna have to fix that. My bloods weren't friendly today, but battled on.. Hey! That's the thrill of the chase.....

Your experience with the DAFNE course sounds very good, @Japes !
What is the 'CP idea?

1 CP is 10 grammes of carbs. Think it's meant to make it easier for those who find the maths tricky? I'm not in that category so I just find it an unnecessary extra thing to think about.

Sounds pretty complicated to me. But if it works for some, nothing wrong with it.

I just found out my yearly review with both internist (we don't really do endo's around here) and diabetes nurse will be in 4 weeks. Way too soon for me, as the last one with internist was in june or july.
At that last appointment (my first in hospital as a T1 instead of the GP nurse as a T2) my lovely internist made it clear I was to see the DN as well. I don't want to visit the hospital more than once a year if I can help it, but I do like my yearly blood test to be in winter, as I had a serious vit. D deficiency, but after putting me on supplemements 3 years ago no-one has bothered to check again, and checking in july seems pretty useless to me.

So next month I'll be meeting my DN for an hour. Very curious what that will be about, as I'm sure she won't spend an hour tickling my feet :)
And I'll have my yearly appointment after half a year with my internist, as it's a combined date with the DN because I didn't want to go to the hospital twice. Which hopefully means no-one will want to draw my blood again until november 2020 after my appointment :)

I expect the internist appointment to be very nice from a social point of view but utterly boring diabetes-wise, as nothing has changed really in the last 6 months. Hopefully the DN will be nice as well, and won't panic over my hba1c. We'll see!
And I'm an idiot for still getting nervous over those appointments. But hey, that's the reason I said no more than once a year.

I think I’m facing a similar issue to someone who posted about not being allowed to eat.. or something to that effect. I’m not allowed to eat my hypo treatments or test my blood sugar in front of guests because apparently my blood will scare some people or it might be seen as unhygienic and it’s rude to eat. They have no made comments when I scan my libre, they’ll only say something when I finger prick to confirm my reading or when I’m sticking whatever I had in my pocket into my mouth.

Well I totally underestimated the carbs in my vegetable curry (no rice) for dinner- yesterday I had rice with it and numbers were perfect. Stupid diabetic variability!

I've become hypo unaware since my brief trip to Austalia where I spent 50% of my time hypoing. It's scary that it's happened so quickly. Here's hoping that awareness returns just as fast. Had a specialist appointment and he said I need to stay constantly above 3.9 mmol/l for awareness to return. I've fallen in the habit of going below on my late afternoon dog walks and late in the evening just in the last weeks. I'm reducing my morning basal. He also suggested a short sprint before my outing. It would give me up to 4 hours of protection. I have to contact DVLA. :(

Hi @SueJB, I moved from California.
Hi @LooperCat I hope you feel better soon.
It's a great place to vacation, that's why we fell in love with it and decided to move here! We used to vacation to Hawaii, Las Vegas and Flagstaff. I would never move to Las Vegas, why lol????............. And we loved Flagstaff, but there is the snow thing and being trapped in the house part of the year although Flagstaff isn't horrible, snow doesn't stay on the ground thick too long usually. But severely cold and we wanted to make sure we stayed active! So Hawaii won! I love forests, but beaches won out!

My avatar is the beach we see at the bottom of our road on the way to town!

I remember thinking exactly the same thing and the DSN saying "Right Sue, your CP ratio is wrong let's change it to 1CP = 20"
No wonder I have problems

@SueJB I spent most of yesterday being unsure of calculations I'm normally very sure of, just because I was doing the extra calculation back to CPs - even though my gut instinct was saying, "Yes, that's what you'd do for that amount of XYZ normally." I've compromised about lunches! I'm not a fan of canteen food at all, but for the sake of good course participation I'm eating some carbs that I normally wouldn't at that time of day and adding bits from my packed lunch if the veggie options are poor.

New machine up and running, though I won't put it into full use until my current one has run out of strips in about 10 days time.

More importantly, the new phone is working well and it's better for the basal alarm calls and reminders.

@Japes always ate my own pack up on the DAFNE course. They used to put stuff in the middle of the table we could eat if we wanted. Crisps, sandwiches and fruit. We all had to eat in the canteen on the final day as a test to eating out. Glad you are enjoying the course, I learnt so much about illness, exercise and just talking to others. There were things I disagreed with but for others it helped and we are all different as you say.

Ok, how does that song go? Oh what a night! Having not had a night time hypo for weeks and then nothing too bad, last night was a permanent hypo. 15ml of Coke, 3 Jelly babies and 4 dextrose eaten over 6 hours and still only 5 on waking. Yesterday morning I was boasting about my level line for 30 odd hours. Knew it wouldn’t last but expected rises not hypos. The only thing different yesterday was the flu jab first thing. My arm is so sore and swollen I couldn’t lie on that side. Anyone else had excessive lows after a flu jab. Logically thought it may have made me higher. It is grandson Tuesday so I need to get some equilibrium back, he’ll be here in about 10 mins.

I just took my own lunch and ate what I always did... no increase in carbs for the sake of the course. People were surprised at my food

So many cogitations with that comment! :D

I did Dafne (!) aeons ago - well it feels like it was - it was very informative and interesting, I remember with a slight tweak my BGs were superb during the course. What got me was the variability of all the participants with dosages, ratios, carbs eaten etc. Funny having a group discussion in the middle of the canteen whether the apple was 5 or 10g carbs.........it was a small apple!
