What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

For those wondering about what to have for breakfast today try picking from this lot. The omelette chef is still here - amazing guy speaks and sings in at least 5 different languages.
https://www.elysium-hotel.com/en/restaurants/lemonia-piazza (try the virtual tour; champagne now on the way out to piazza; mostly Germans atm) Evening meals are much the same
All very pleasant looking, Ian. enjoy

But particularly liked the local time and weather on bottom of page... a nice touch, very useful.:)

Morning all. 2nd Sunday before advent and I'm laying on a sunbed beside a pool in Pathos/Pafos. 5.3 fbg today trying to work out the time earlier was a nightmare - fitbit still on uk time, room blacked out and phone elsewhere. I didn't want to wake Julie. As if by magic my body woke me at about 5.00 am here. Found the nightlight button by my bed, located bathroom, tested, dressed and headed off for some tea - asked at reception for almond milk in our room - forgot to email that. Odd experience with Christmas tree, full decs all over, me and other folks roaming around in shorts and pool slides. Enjoy your day. For Bake Off fans sat in front of Paul Hollywood on the flight out - had to google him but Julie was aware of him.
Have a wonderful holiday. Enjoy the gorgeous sunshine. Bring some back with you please.

Brilliant!!!

5.0
4.7
4.9
5.9 (previous evening I had a bit of a mad moment or 2 celebrating getting my hba1c bloods out of the way, included very late night strawberries and cream, I hope I'm still celebrating when I get my results!
5.1 today and back on it

All week preparing for a little presentation to my diabetes group Wednesday and for Blackpool tower ballroom on 25th. Sorting slides for PowerPoint. My daughter will be helping me put together tomorrow as I'm not techy. Bought lots of different drinks to put out on table with equivalent sugar lumps. Innocent drink is definitely not so innocent!!! Going to do plates of pasta bread rice potatoes eggs broccoli etc etc going to put all my books out. My box (empty now) a1cnow (home hba1c tests) my blood glucose monitors, my libre sensor box (give demos and show graphs of my readings) and lots of info leaflets.

Any ideas for other things to include??? Much appreciated.

Happy Sunday to all.

We don't watch TV in real time so we always fast forward through any ads. However maybe that subliminal message still gets through but in a different time zone, who knows? Ah I bet @OldButBold does if he's not been driven totally mad by the Urban Space Man in his head.

Not me, I don't own a tv, evil things ;) If I'm interested in a program I can usually find it on the net :)

I agree, so many precious hours of life lost to a square box. I like Philip Pullmans take on it in his interview regarding his Dark Matter Trilogy, if you have only lived your life through the TV there will be no escape from the clutches of the dark reaper, you need interesting stories to tell. Sadly our TV still lurks behind the sofa which we have to push out of the way if we want to watch it and as it's a very heavy sofa and not on casters it ain't that often. :joyful:

I had better consult Little Miss Pamplemousse, one of my granddaughters, about this - she will be up from Birmingham next weekend. I expect that she will have ideas about who the main characters would be.

Being a grandDAUGHTER she *might* not want to add the storyline about the baby dragons (unless it involves rescuing them all from a shelter) :)

Ah, I see dragon-shopping has already commenced ... :D

And now, thanks to @jjraak , ;) I have "The Carol of the Tills" "ringing" in my head --

Hark how the tills
Suite of ringing tills
All seem to say
"Throw cash our way" ...

and the commercials chorus

On, on they send,
On without end
Their selling tone
To every home ...

Ads here they don't so much send subliminal messages as ...

O how they pound
Raising the sound
O'er hill and dale
Making a sale ...

Spotted this this afternoon...warning...you may need a tissue or two for the second video it's a reminder of what is really important

Last year people said his budget advert was better than John Lewis' and this year is no different. The true meaning of Christmas

I know I am a bit old and a bit grumpy but I would have more respect for these companies that spend so much on Christmas ads if they gave it to homeless charities or animal shelters or food banks. For the children you could make a simple little short ad to promote your latest toy/idea and it would do the trick. Am I missing something here?

You would have to read the whole storey...he made this about his mother who before she died left him Christmas messages which he used to play on Christmas morning...it cost him jut £50 to make this & remind us what is really important...its the comparison of how little it can cost to get your message across.

Oh my goodness. Love it. And I as I remember the one he made last year the tears start to flow. I think of my own dear mum who used to move in with us for Christmas and new year (I lost my dad at 21 and she was always with us ever since). This brought some very special memories back and I thank you for sharing this. Great to let emotions out dont you think. Better out than in my mum used to say.I'm also watching Michelle visage on strictly letting her emotions out too. Everyone is at it!!

good evening all :)

was 4.4 this morning

over to mum's for Sunday dinner today, meatballs baked with med veg in sauce topped with cheese, cauli for me and a bit of pasta for mr gee and his mum with lots of broccoli ;)

Little doggie Katy spent ages stealthily undoing mr gee's shoelaces :hilarious:

mr gee and I felt it was perhaps a bit early after losing Suzie to get another dog (we found Suzie's sudden illness, nursing and decline very hard), but mum, being older, seems to have a slightly truncated perception of time now :( Anyway, little Katy is a character in herself :)

Hope your day is treating you well :)

Yes I was warm - actually I was a little too warm. It is another big coat day today as we are off to Felbrigg Hall and it is bound to be so cold. Haven't been there for ages as it is one National Trust place we seem to have forgotten we like walking around.

I’ve never visited Felbrigg Hall but just looked it up - it looks gorgeous, I hope you had a lovely walk.

Speaking of Felbrigg Hall ...

I thought it looked lovely too, in the pics I saw. And they brought to mind a question I've had from reading some novels, in which some big house is described as being, e.g., part Tudor, part Georgian, with earlier sections and later styles added on over the centuries. Could the authors have meant something like Felbrigg Hall, I wonder? It looks like at least two different periods to me. But I don't know ... :)

I think companies just get sucked in to it.
.(you don't kill the golden goose do ya.;))

does any one really believe any of us are dropping shopping at any other store because X had a xmas video that many say is 'wonderful'...hahahaha

i like many millions of others will be awaiting Black Friday, ebay, tkmax, in fact using whatever store has the best prices, and in stock items i want, high st or web... regardless of xmas or not or any over hyped advert.

and charity, @PenguinMum
i'm sure they all do a lot of 'good work for Charity' as my old mate nicey used to say...
