I didn't get through the day without more food. About 6 pm, my BG had come down to 7.4 so I thought it would be OK to risk something else. Had a large dose of insulin and salad with hard boiled egg. I seem to be taking far too much insulin recently, but don't know what else to do. BG just now down to 7.3.

I think the problem yesterday was a result of the roll I had with black pudding and it has hung over the early part of today. Just one bread roll, despite a large dose of insulin. Knowing this doesn't stop me craving a potato, or bread, or something "nice but not common" as my husband used to say.
That could indeed have been the issue. I'm assuming it was obe of the white morning rolls? Thankfully I've never liked them so they don't tempt me. Toast though, that's a totally different matter!

To be honest, @Annb - I wasn't considering the wheat was only implicated on the high sugar (in terms of intolerance, although in terms of carb count), I was also wondering about some of your aches and pains and crushing fatigue.

The fatigue I experience when I have been "glutened" is utterly crushing.

I have no idea what sort of thyroid issues you have, but if you have Hashimoto's Syndrome, as many do, then being auto-immune, you will be more susceptible to other AI conditions.

In terms of you taking no sugars, you fairly regularly mention having a banana. For me, they're little sugar bombs, and could well be helping those numbers into uncomfortable places for you.

Ann, it's about time you started pressing for catch up appointments for all these outstanding issues. They're not going to come knocking on your door any time soon, and frankly, nobody cares about our health as we do ourselves.

The world is waking up from this COVID flare. In many places (obviously not Leicester!), routine clinics are happening again. OK, many are being done by phone/video calling, but you need to get yourself sorted out.

In your shoes, that my Doctor might be hard to get a hold of would not be a barrier to me protecting my health and wellbeing.

First steps being taken tomorrow, when my blood test results should be back, then I can get a telephone appointment with my GP. The medical consultant I spoke to is also waiting to see the results of the blood test to figure out what is happening. However, I will not be given another appointment with him for another 6 months now.

Thanks so much for your interest. The issue with my thyroid is not of any disease in it - I had a tumour on a parathyroid which had to be removed, but it was growing into the thyroid. That meant part of my thyroid had to be removed as well. I don't think I have any of the kind of allergies that Neil has, or my DIL for that matter, but do have various intolerances. That is - I don't come out in rashes, or have swelling lips/tongue etc but there are clearly things which my system just doesn't like (or likes too much).

Avoiding wheat and other carbs doesn't actually seem to make any difference to the aches and pains, which XRays have shown to be wear and tear and losing bone density (not osteoporosis yet).

I'll be roasting the chicken thighs with a little bit of onion and some mushrooms. I have put my Air Fryer in the loft. I don't think it was a very good one and was disappointed with the results.

I often think I am being hypochondriacal and vow to ignore all this health stuff. Or, at least, I think that is what others may think, so I try to just shut up. I seem to be using you guys as a sounding board though - sorry about that.

Hi All
Missed two days again.
All I can say about Friday’s food is I had made a chicken curry to heat up but unexpectedly got access to the fish man at the farm shop pick up so we had cod loin panfried with 3 scallops each. Divine!
Yesterday was usual slice HiLo toast, butter, tea.
Lunch was a small tomato & fresh basil omelette, my new favourite omelette.
Supper was the chicken curry with cauli rice.
Today same breakfast.
Lunch was small plate of mixed salad with shavings of very mature cheddar and a drizzle of pesto dressing.
Supper will be roast chicken with cauliflower or broccoli.
I too have ordered the Lindt Hazelnut because you all made it sound more like praline which I adore rather than whole nut. I need to organise my HBa1c this week so it will not see the light of day till after that! Its a lot carbier than Lindt 90 so only max two squares when I’m having a good day. Its good value on Amazon.

Saturday Bed 6.6 FBG 6.3 - Much better day. @Antje77 - have to smile at your post party recovery. I've had a few of them in my time. Loads of water usually called for.
B. TAG and a slice of LC toast and pate.
L. Nothing.
D. @Goonergal - snap! Air fried chicken (thighs & drumsticks) dipped in egg and parmesan and veggie chips. Sour cream and chive dip. Had a last tiny bit of Hubby's black forest gateau.

Afternoon, All :D

B: a lc hot choc followed by a lovely dog walk in a park with huge rose beds, all bursting with exquisite scent and colour.
L: only remembered to eat at 3pm. Yesterdays chicken breast with pate and bacon, reheated with a knob of butter.
D: will be the rest of the chicken breasts in curry spices. Only trouble is I am so full of lunch that I may never feel like eating again, and Mr B is going to start champing at the bit for that curry in a while... gonna be hard to summon any enthusiasm at all.

Oh did I mention the Lindt hazelnut? It is all @Chook ‘s fault.

Evening all

@Chook @Brunneria you are incorrigible. Despite having walked several miles today, I am now running through in my mind which local shops might be open with suitable chocolate!

No breakfast - set out early-ish to walk to Chelsea Physic Garden. One of my favourite places and only recently re-opened. Amazed that I was able to book a time slot for today yesterday. A little over 7 miles there. @Chook passed the end of a road in SE London that we have in common and thought of you!

Usually their cafe has nothing of interest for me, aside drinks, but today they had little pots of rosemary roasted nuts, so had one of those and a Diet Coke on arrival, followed by another and a sparkling water before leaving.

Wandered home via Victoria, Parliament Square (both very quiet) and then along the river. Hopped on a boat from the Tower for a couple of stops to get me closer to home and then picked up a lamb doner kebab (no bread) with onions on the way. Have just had a low carb hot chocolate - hopefully will prevent any forays to the shop.

Brunch - 2 slices of corned beef and mug of earl grey with double cream.

Dinner - 3 chicken drumsticks with Nandos piri piri garlic sauce, salad and large dollop of coleslaw.

Cutting back today as I ate and drank far too much yesterday! :greedy:

Off out for a walk now - it is dry at the moment - hopefully the rain will stay off until I get back

Moving swiftly past the chocolate posts....
Breakfast: cheese omelette
Dinner: slow roast lamb shoulder, cauliflower cheese and buttered cabbage. Followed by DGF choc orange brownie and cream.
Had a couple of glasses of fizz before dinner and a glass of red with it.
@Antje77 what a great party that sounds. Hope you are fully recovered and well shod now.

Hi all
Wonderful catch up in park with friends this morning- took own flask coffee with cream and picnic blanket, cloudy and windy but warmed up by seeing my pals!
Last few weeks I’ve restarted a regular Pilates workout at home and starting to feel benefits - I try and do most days before I first eat. It’s clear that my gym isn’t going to open yet so sorted out own routine and hoping to stick with it.
Lunch scrambled eggs in butter with half slice of toasted lc bread and a little bit of vintage cheddar
Dinner roast chicken, one chipolata, roast celeriac, sprouts and braised celery with half bottle of dry white gavi wine - delicious -followed by warmed DGF lemon and blueberry cake with extra thick cream.
Just had decaff coffee and then succumbed to choc - not as naughty as the Lindt but had six small squares of the 100% montezumas absolut Black........
Now about to water garden as this wind is very drying and my tomato plants, especially, look a bit sorry for themselves!

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and Mississippi mudder phd bar.
Late Lunch: A small portion of left over Mediterranean veggies with melted cheese followed by Greek yoghurt, orange chia pudding and vanilla and raspberry LC granola.
Dinner: roast chicken, one small roast potato, mixed veg and gravy made from meat juices thickened with flax followed by LC carrot cake with cream.

Edit to add pic!

football, both the game and the culture.
I must not buy any more Choceur dark hazelnut chocolate from Aldi.
(Repeat frequently)
Fortunately they do not stock it very often but then it has rarity value!
Saw this last week and managed to leave it on the shelf. However am not enjoying the 99% chocolate I did buy, which might have come from a different shop. The Aldi choceur is looking even more tempting now.

Thanks! As I'm over 40, I'm afraid full recovery will have to wait until tomorrow, had a very slow day today :bag:.
I've just picked up my shoes, and found out walking barefoot on a gravelled driveway feels a lot better after half a bottle of whisky than with the leftovers of a hangover. Oh well, at least I'm very sure the sensory nerves in my feet are still alive and kicking :D
I also found my favourite sweater, which I hadn't missed yet.

Coffee with skimmed milk, cracker with generous amounts of butter, marmite and cheese, couple of strawberries. Evening meal will be reheated mixed veggies with marinated pork belly pieces and peanut sauce. Midnight snack will happen too.

Fully sympathise with the over 40 recovery syndrome, but I love your positive spin on the diabetic foot pricking test performed by the gravel.

Hi all, coming to join you in the hopes I can shift my status quo inertia by being a bit more accountable (to myself really). Have a rather large birthday next week and it seems a good time to make some adjustments (well it will be after the big day). I suspect I’ll be suffering as @Antje77 has been Wednesday morning

anyway. Today has been a good day for me

Greek yoghurt and a few walnuts
A side plate of bacon
Bbq burgers, cheese, rocket and cucumber. Small blob of mayo
Homemade keto pannacotta dessert. (Birthday bbq treat)
