5 am FBG 4.9 - Hurrah!
Co-codamol and tea. I had to take half a dose at 2.30 am and then again at 5 am. Legs very bad. Better now though.
9.45 BG 7.4 - still reasonable.
10.50 brunch - 2 vegetable frittatas (using some of the broccoli and chick peas) Carbs less than 15.
Evening meal will be about 7 pm, I expect. It will be some prosciutto with a couple of Atkins crackers. Carbs less than 4.

Just had a phone call from a diabetes nurse. They think I'm taking too much of the basal dose of insulin and want me to cut back to where I was a week and a half ago. Also they think I am taking too much short acting insulin and will need to cut that back as well. This is because my levels for the last 2 days have been, mostly between 7 and 8. To me that's good. To them the control is too tight! Even though on Saturday, after brunch it was 15.8. I just left it that I would reduce a bit, but not as far as they want and will put it back up again if my readings tomorrow are high. They'll call back on Thursday and see how I've got on. I don't understand why they think I should have readings higher than the recommended range.

Edited to add: Is there something I don't know about, maybe to do with my age?

Breakfast - 3 eggs mashed in a cup with 2 teaspoons of butter, salt and pepper. Tea with splash of milk

Lunch - feta, avocado, and olive in a lemon dressing with 2 slices of turkey meat. A Babybel, 5 raspberries and a wee mini packet of fridge raiders.

Dinner - Spag Bol with bare naked noodles.

Hoping to be under 25g again. Would kill for a potato but I’ve got low carb bread being delivered tomorrow

Thanks for your reply. I am never constipated, quite the opposite. Its interesting about flaxseed because my son who has it much worse than me cannot tolerate any seeds. I guess like all gastro issues its a case of trial and error.

Neil is the same with his Crohn's disease. Other people treat it with a high fibre diet and/or medication, but he can't cope with either. His diet is all low fibre, refined foods. That way he keeps moderately well. When he does get a flare up, he uses tinned fish in water or brine and that seems to calm things down, although he can't eat fresh fish. For him it seems to work. Just a thought.

Another scorcher here today.

Menu will be a bit samey this week due to over purchasing in Asda on Monday morning and lack of freezer space!

Ate breakfast as it was obvious from my calendar that the working day would be full with few opportunities for proper food. Had mince fried with onions, 2 eggs and grated cheese. Even managed to get it out of the frying pan in tact.
‘Lunch’ was one small pork belly slice chopped into small pieces, rolled in chilli oil and air fried.
Dinner was chicken wings salted and coated in chilli oil.

In other news - and kind of related to this thread, I’m featured in the Deliciously Guilt Free podcast this week. It’s the 10 minute slot. Sadly it didn’t result in any freebies!

I loved hearing your voice!
It's so strange 'knowing' people without ever having seen or heard them!

And I still want your plate, even though I broke the plate I promised you in return :sorry:. It's so pretty!

Are you under GP care (not very versed on insulin usually) or under specialist care (insulin treated diabetes being their core business)?
Between 7 and 8 looks nice to me!

Sorry to hear about health issues @PenguinMum @Annb and @Chook sounds complex and especially the insulin balance stuff.
@Goonergal your podcast is on this evenings listening list so looking forward to it. I tend to listen to keto or low carb lectures or podcasts most evenings while I walk around the garden. Heaven knows why but I find them both interesting and soothing!
I listened to this one - from a real hero prof Tim noakes
And part two last night - fascinating I think!
Getting darker here though just now - so may not be listening in the garden!
Lunch one slice of bacon and two fried eggs
Dinner pork chop, roast celeriac and stuffed mushrooms followedby DGF raspberry bakewell and cream.

I'm under hospital care at a specialist clinic. They might be transferring me back to GP sometime soon though. They were talking about it just before the lockdown. I would prefer it to be lower than 7, but between 7 and 8 will do. However, the health professionals think 8 is too low and would prefer to see about 10 and would be comfortable with 12. As advised (sort of), I will drop the basal dose from 54 to 52 units tonight and see what happens, but there's no way I'll drop it to 50 tonight, which is what the nurse wanted.

It was good to hear you and put a voice to the name. And your mince with eggs and cheese looks really appetising.

Ann, do you have many hypos? How many a week, or when, roughly was your last one?

Breakfast was same old, same old, bacon and eggs..... thank Goodness.... may I never tire of this breakfast :)

Had a bit of lunch again today, two roast chicken thighs, part of my 'go too' stash in the fridge should my teeth get itchy.

Dinner was salmon steak, with cream sauce, green salad with avocado.

For supper 10 green olives, BG test over half an hour later had dropped 0.1 so I guess olives can become a bit of a staple.

Happy that today's food came in under 12g of carbs.

Got a few posts to catch up on as it's been a busy two days. Monday bed 7.6 FBG 7 - too many berries too close to bedtime. Another day of school clothes labelling but all done now and ready for Wednesday.
B. Yesterday TAG and a slice of LC toast with pate.
L. Few slices of the little bits of garlic sausage.
D. Used up the various bits of the remaining street food from Lidl. Chicken bits, remains of the burrata and tomato, made a lo dough calzone with salami and ricotta in it. 2 squares Godiva.

@Chook - can't see the lo dough quesadilla doing that to your BGs. Weird.
@zauberflote - @ianpspurs is still about just not on this thread currently. He may pop up now you're back.

I haven't had a hypo for a very long time until last Saturday. That was because I gave in to temptation and had a peach. That put BG up to 11.5 so a couple of hours later I took insulin and had a very light breakfast and then a very light afternoon snack. So BG dropped to 3.5. I had a boiled sweet and it gradually came back up to 6.2 before bed. Too high happens much more frequently than too low.

Good to hear you @Goonergal

L: some gouda grilled to make crisps to hold some pate our fussy cat refused to eat! Last bit of the berry bake
D: quality burger and salad at the pub with one glass white wine and lots of soda (too hot to cook). Small low carb/sugar icecream from Morrisons. Won't bother again

It’s my birthday today so not as low carb as usual!
Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee. I may just have had two Montezuma peanut butter dark choc eggs aswell!
Late morning: black coffee and Strawberry carb killa.
Too hot for Lunch! Just had a handful of Pecans
Dinner out, ‘Eat out to help out’ deal fell conveniently on my birthday: bunless double cheese and bacon burger with coleslaw and six triple cooked chips (!) followed by SF jelly, cream and LC chocolate granola at home.

@Goonergal It's great to put a voice to a face - I enjoyed your podcast - go girl!

@Rachox Happy Birthday - I hope you have had a lovely day

I was out today at one of my favourite restaurants for a catch-up with a friend - helping out the economy and my mental health - I really can't wait for everything to go back to "normal"

late lunch/early dinner - lovely steak with prawns and scampi with peppercorn sauce poured over the top with a mixed side salad.

Laters - 6 Almonds, some cheese and 2 slices of ham and egg roll and a spoonful of extra thick double cream.

Gorgeous blanket @zauberflote. @PenguinMum, @Chook and @Annb - hugs for the BGs and health issues. I'm doing this in the midst of thunder & lightning. It's been going on for a hour now. Had a look at the lightning map and we're surrounded by it currently. Not a fan as I think I said before my Granny used to shut us in a cupboard during thunderstorms when we were young. Very busy day. Got all the school clothes along the road then picked up DIL and boys for a meet the teacher before they start school tomorrow. School has done a great job considering the only had full time with no distancing for children 10 days ago. They've reorganised all the classrooms and they are really well set up. Did the boys a lot of good as the eldest in particular was very nervous. Had to then get DIL'S PPE supplies to her clinic.
Bed 6.7 FBG 5 2 - I even got down to 4.2 today hurrah!
B. TAG and a slice of LC toast with pate.
L. Nothing was out and about on meet the teacher, deliveries and shopping.
D. Slice each of ox tongue, roast pork, haslet and turkey. Lettuce, tomato, 1/2 avocado, 1/2 pack of M&S salami crisps, coleslaw. Later 4 strawberries and cream.

Back on the school run tomorrow! Storms still going on.

Thanks @maglil55 and massive welcome @zauberflote. I was only thinking about you the other day. I hope you and your family are well. To be on thread message: yesterday I ate sirloin steak and salad at around 14.00 hrs - meh; and hoovered up some Emmental and char grilled artichokes and 18.30 :woot::woot: Finished off around 21.30 by helping some on offer chorizo, which looked lost in Waitrose on Sunday, hiding in a fridge I don't usually use:):):). It was my Kamala D Harris celebratory feast. We have moved to Little America where one can pay in dollars or sterling in many places so I'm heavily protected by your tax dollar funded guys, gals and hardware. I know it's only rock 'n' roll, but I like it.
