What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning everyone on dark and dangerous times in the dark and dangerous north and other places
The wonder wheel of a fine breast of lamb came in at 4.8 this am

@Muddy Cyclist - chilly bike ride and a fine, vibrant sandstone outcrop, backdropping those dark trees and shrubs - smashing. Walking and log fires sounds good.
@dogslife - Belated birthday greetings and hugs for your recent emotional rollercoaster. Hope your mum is OK.
@gennepher - love this art, fine silhouette exposed by the dawn cry of the approaching Ra.

New series of Staged is going well and well done to both for maintaining that lock down look. US Capital police caught on the back foot - strange days and a new enemy of the state. First foray into a supermarket yesterday in this new year, list firmly grasped in hand - happily not many people about so the avoidance dance not activated and checkout Charlene with no queue. Shout at the telly at 7pm last night - I still think that Mz Bruce should stick to antiques. The Repair Shop - does every item need to have a back story like participants in Britain's Got Talent - can you book your spouse in? Now I’m thinking about Jeremy Bentham - “Tyranny and anarchy are never far apart”.

Art - in recognition of our fine news reporters led by that loony Laura bird - a big lump of bull wallowing in the mire. Have the best day that you can. Koffy calls (other sounds available by appointment).

Thank you, for some reason I have startedanother painting of Etchinghill, not sure why, did I forget I'd done the first, have I time travelled or am I just loosing the plot?

Another magnificent beast from you, I have to say as I did yesterday you certainly understand their physiology, have you been a water buffalo farmer in some pastlife?

8.2 yesterday and 6.5 today. I've not been feeling very well and my MH hasn't been very good so am trying not to stress about the numbers too much at the moment.

Thank you @Muddy Cyclist - no, I have not been a water buffalo farmer but I do enjoy a really good bocconcini or burrata and have seen the films Out of Africa and Crocodile Dundee.

Sorry art today is another of Etchinghill, why I have no idea. It is less than 300 meters from my house and so is frequently walked and cycled over, three bridleways cross it so I am being a good lad. :)

Water colour A4 about 1 hour.....

I will move on tomorrow I promise, probably the woodland over Wolseley Estate seen from Etchinghill.

Morning all. No Swipey data today it seems to be unwell. Anyone willing to do so please pray for our American members and the thousands of Servicemen, women and their families far from home, family and friends. I also need to publicly thank @Krystyna23040 who has patiently and highly professionally provided me with invaluable help for dealing with my spinal issues.
Thank you for that. I really appreciate your comments. If you need anymore help do PM me.

Just to say thank you for your responses to my long post last night. I haven't been posting much lately as I haven't had anything positive or of interest to share and my fbs are constantly high but I really found it helpful to write down my recent experiences on this trustworthy, friendly and supportive forum. :)

Every word was true and it is I who should be thanking you once again. That post and your help are a measure of just what an amazing person you are. God bless you.

Beautiful @Muddy Cyclist
These are among my favourites of your paintings. There is nothing wrong with Etchinghill!
I love the colours and the sky.

Events dear boy, events. Yesterday was full of events so no poem link or reading. Read it this morning - quite sad to come to the end but quite an appropriate message behind the poem leaving aside the spiritual. I can't help but feel a sense of there but for the Grace of God over those hideous scenes as I can't bring myself to think or say anything positive about this government. I will leave any room where our PM is on tv with or without sound. Long hard look inside myself is needed.

good evening all :)

4.7 yesterday and 4.8 today

I've got a sore and irritated eye the last couple of days :sorry: so I will hopefully catch up shortly when it's settled down.

Hope everyone is well and your day is treating you kindly :)

Nicely posted out, @ianpspurs

Apologies in advance for this long post and for not posting a fbs. I have ten minutes of my birthday left so thought I would spend them sharing my experiences of the last two days. Yesterday was the anniversary of my dear dad's passing and was full of emotional flashbacks. I then had a long phone call from the manager of mum's nursing home informing me that 20 of the residents including my mum and 29 staff had tested positive recently and that 6 had died! Apparently since we were last able to visit in March several new residents had arrived who were mobile. Some of them had a tendency to wander into other people's rooms and this had probably contributed to the sudden spread of the virus. The layout of the building was also thought to have contributed to enabling this to happen so the plan was to move the 10 residents who cannot walk, including mum, from their downstairs rooms to upstairs to protect them. I had several concerns about the move for mum but was asked to let them know my decision in a couple of days. Then this morning whilst opening my birthday cards I had a phone call saying the move was taking place there and then and asking for my agreement to move mum. I had to put safety first but requested that mum could be moved to a room with a similar outside view as this was important to her. They agreed so I gave my consent. When I rang this evening I was told mum was fine and had settled into her new room. Phew!!! The good news is that mum has weathered Covid so far without serious symptoms. Sorry for the long post but I really needed to vent. For those who read my post to the end --thank you. No need for hugs as writing this down has already helped a lot. Thank you again. Good night all. Have a good day tomorrow.
Oh @dogslife .
Apologies for late reply

Happy birthday first.

And omg such stress for you at that news.

Homes are so good, but even we were worried back when it was just colds and such spreading around and not this swine of a disease.

And in & out of each others rooms such a godsend for social interaction back then, but now...oh dear how to get those confused to respect todays distancing, I don't know.

Hugs for all that and the emotion packed into memories of dad at this time of year
Never fades away

Hope for continuing good news re mum, and let's hope the vaccinations are the begining of the end of covid worries for all of us.

As for long post...Mmhh

Sometimes we need to vent
And the beauty of the thread, as you point out, is it's a safe, supportive place to do so .

I too find simply writing down my feelings re issues cathartic.

God bless each one on here.

Take good care of yourself.:)

Out of my window this morning in the dark were snowflakes falling, the size of my hand. I won't be going for a drive this morning. So tidying stuff indoors in this Tardis today...

I went out yesterday morning again, very early.

But temperatures were low. Minus 5 C and my car was a frosted iceberg. Some serious defrosting needed.

So I didn't do a run on dual carriageways for car driving practice so I am okay on Tuesday for driving to the hospital appointment. I just stayed on gritted roads and went to the Post Office in the next village. I have not been there before. I noticed it the other day, and that it had a village shop as well. So that combines getting my money out of post office, getting stamps, and some food shopping all in one go. And it is no further than the High Street Post Office I normally use.

There was some lovely food in there. So I bought some. But the credit card machine for the food part wasn't working. There was a bad internet connection. So the lady had to wait while her husband served me in the Post Office, and I paid her cash.

What was really nice was they both wore clear face shields which was great for me and lipreading. And I told them so!

I posted some postcards and letters. And I explained about Postcrossing and sending others postcards, as well as receiving them. And that people from other countries complained to me that the postage stamps from the U.K. are boring. The postmaster's face lit up.

He explained he was interested in philately. And when special issues came out he got them in. My High Street post office won't do this, neither will another post office I use. So I said I was very interested. Then he showed me some new Welsh ones he has just got in. I'll have them, I said. He also showed me some postcards which go with special edition stamps, but he didn't have any of those stamps left.

However I do because I ordered some of these ones before Christmas online from the Royal Mail. I don't know if you remember but my order was split up, parts were late, and one part wasn't delivered at all. I had to chase that up, and it was all more bother than it was worth for the sum of money I had to pay out.

Now I have a lovely Postmaster who is interested in stamps. He showed some cards he cannot sell me until next Thursday, and there will be stamps to celebrate our National Parks to go with them. I said those cards had my name on them! So, I will go first thing next Thursday and get those cards and stamps.

I am highly delighted. And it is fantastic they wear the clear shields that enable me lipread!

If we get further restrictions in lockdown, then this Post Office and Village Shop is less than a mile as the crow flies. I cannot ask for more! You know where I will be shopping now! No big stores for me any more!!!

My painting in Procreate. I was trying to create the frost at sunrise. Not an easy task!
