Which coffee machine do you use ?

Planning to get a nespresso machine. Any recommendations?

I never had one, always wanted to get one. I had always hold back because it seems very expensive.

Well, I finally decided to pull the trigger and get one before 2019.

Where can I find the best deal? And which machine would you recommend? There seems to be so many models that I am all confused already.

If you like a big mugful of coffee I’d recommend the newer Vertuo. I have friends who have the original with the smaller capsules but need two capsules each time to get a decent volume. The only snag is you have to buy genuine Nespresso capsules as you can’t get cheaper copies like the original machines. The Vertuo creates a lovely thick Crema layer.
Nespresso have a very efficient recycling scheme for the capsules, they provide recycling bags which when full you can get them collected when you have a delivery ordered, take them to a boutique or take them to a Collect + shop.

which although the outlay is not cheap its far better that an Nespresso, I have a second hand one, and you are not stuck to brands. I drink about six cups a day, and most of the time the coffee it makes is far better than what you can buy from Costa or Starbucks. I buy Aldi beans which are really good and compare well with the higher priced brands. I bought one as a treat to myself off ebay and I would never go back, but the noise from grinder drove the kids made when they were at home.
 
I always had instant; can't stand it these days, as my tastebuds have changed. So mostly drink tea, but will have the occasional double/triple espresso as a treat. A few years ago there was a Nespresso machine in a lovely little Parisian appartment my husband and I stayed at for 2 nights. He hates coffee, so allllll the pods were for me to try! Needless to say, I got a simple (don't need a milk-processing one) machine for my birthday a few months later. Right now I'm trying out cheaper (Dutch) supermarket cups, but so far nothing has mached my beloved Volutto. Search is on though!
 
Oh coffee my last vice left. I’ve tried pods capsules grounds beans and instant , but I eventually plumped for a stove top percolator. I’m like my coffee black and very strong , ( I have 3 extra shots of espresso in an Americano in costa.)
I like Lidl’s Kenyan ground coffee .
 
I have a cheap filter coffee maker from Lidl - it was marked down and ridiculously cheap so I got two, and have just swapped to the second one due to the first one springing a leak, I use the Lidl coffee grounds which look like a gold brick, and use my Bamix to mix in extra thick cream and make it frothy.

I use the double shot attachment, usually with coconut cream, unless I’m running late, I mix in a scoop of whey protein. Some sort of sludgy mixture to start off the day
 
The coffee machine I use is my daughter, and what she uses is a kettle,

We do have a newfangled pod-muncher, but it never gets used unless we have important visitors. Plebs like me get the instant,
 
I have used lots of coffee machines over the years - I have had a couple of Nespresso machines but was always put off by the limited coffee selection and the cost when you need at least 2 pods for a mug, so I went through phases of just using a cafetière.

Then I had an excellent bean-to-cup machine for a good few years til it died.

Now I have an espresso grinder and a little Sage Bambino to make proper espresso (modded to use non-pressurised baskets) and which also automatically makes beautiful steamed milk, or in my case, double cream diluted with water and steamed.

And because this is a lot of faff for every day and I went through 6 months post-diagnosis when I didn’t use it much because milk does Bad Things to my BG (before I tried cream-and-water), I have a Technivorm filter machine and a different grinder which I use on work day mornings.

Yep, I am a bit geeky about it, but not that discerning really. I don’t use posh coffee, just ordinary Lavazza beans.

This thread has prompted me to fix myself a cappuccino..

*In general, the quality of grinder is more important than the quality of espresso machine (in that a good consistent grinder used with an entry level machine machine will taste better than a mediocre inconsistent grinder used with a top end machine).

Oh yes! I totally need a Expobar Brewtus IV! I’m afraid I would need a cup of coffee before I could operate one though. The IV of course has me thinking of setting up a continuous drip

I have two (yeah, I’m too lazy to be fiddling with dialling them in every other day) Eureka mignon grinders which do an excellent job, one for espresso and one with a different burr set for a coarser grind. I love them, they are so fast and quiet. My thinking was to get a great mid-price (well, low price really, given what the pro ones cost!) grinder and a basic espresso machine, to see if I liked the messing about - the grinder would bring the best out of the little machine and still be up to the job for a posher, shiny one later if I wanted!

And then 3 months later the diabetes happened and latte was off the menu for a bit, so more kit arrived....

Now, fortunately, I can enjoy them both.
 
I have my coffee specially ground for me in Harrogate by a nice Mr Taylor. He also makes quite reasonable coffee bags which are very useful on holiday when the only alternative is a nasty little sachet of Nescafé. I don't like espresso without sugar so I normally make mugs of coffee with an AeroPress.

At least this is one the diabetes has not crippled (unlike my sourdough habit)!
 
An old bean to cup Gaggia machine but I use ground Illy decaffinated. I also use an Aeropress. Double cream makes it surprisingly delicious.
