Late to the feast again. 5.6 for me this morning. Zoomed out early on Mountain Bike did a good three hours although it was hard work as I had changed the brake pads and they were binding on the discs, sorted when I got home but muscle building on ride. :)

Will catch up on posts later this evening with a glass of wine.

For now my not yet finished Tryfan 2 watercolour, will need to detail the foreground slate wall an drew grasses but then ''tis done.

COVID update.. Lichfield School where our daughter teaches sees its first Indian Variant in the 6th form and two primary schools are closed because of the Indian Variant, the area levels are 11 in 100,000 but news about the Variant is worrying and to close for comfort. Family holiday next week so hoping these numbers don't suddenly expand causing Boris to clamp down on us.

Impressive mountain scenery, Muddy.

good evening all :)

4.6 today

shopping day again and a wet start so that was a bit tedious, went much better after we got a takeaway coffee ;)

Bin's are emptied and the water has receded from the drive at Mum's so we got some clear up done :)

Hope your day is treating you well :)

@SlimLizzy - hope things dry out soon.

@dunelm - nice early art start by your girl in the bubble :joyful: and a trio of interesting doodles from yourself, a family line of talent obviously :) I especially like the deep forest in the first doodle.

@ianpspurs - I hope your nursing duties went well and recovery is swift.

@gennepher - Lin Fengmian does have a nice way with draperies and I like his stylisation. Your picture works well and the curtains have some nice shading, a pleasing still life :)

@lindisfel - two more lovely sunsets :)

@Muddy Cyclist - glad you managed a satifactory ride today :) Tryfan 2 is developing nicely, interesting texture in this layer and the mountains against the sky are lovely :joyful:
I hope the variant stays away and your holiday trip is safe.

4.5 today

woohoo! a fairly sunny day after a very damp start with torrents of rain.
mr gee celebrated by spending most of the morning making repairs to his shed window, then we went over to mum's to collect her shopping list only to find the heavy rain overnight had flooded half way up the drive :sorry:

It happens periodically since the county raised the road when they resurfaced it, they did put an extra drain in at the side of the gate but the constant rain had filled it up with mud and leaves. So that was our afternoon, cleaning out the drain. :angelic: :D
Katy thought the puddles on the drive were great fun to run about in :hilarious:

Lovely evening now but we're too 'cream crackered' to take advantage of a walk ;)

Hope your day is treating you well :)

@RFSMarch - great news! :joyful:

@Muddy Cyclist - Ah, the paper thing does make sense on those terms :)
You must be looking forward to your trip, I know I would be :D

@dunelm - interesting technique by the sound of it, might have a go at it myself, I've seen a few Youtube videos of people doing gel plate printing too, more food for thought ;)
I'm liking what you have done with your new background technique today :)

@gennepher - many hugs for the soaking and the miserable chilling, it's been doing sudden downpours like that here too :sorry: glad you have warmed up now though.
A stunning piece of art you have produced, striking and moody background, the trees are great and the people have worked really well, amazing for such a small work area :joyful:

@ianpspurs - glad you're pleased, mum's lawn is full of puddles so she's not so amused, the reseeded area where the burst pipe was repaired is appreciating it though :)

@SlimLizzy - looks lovely, very lush (hugs for the hard work though )

art bit -
I have fallen foul of the image size messages sometimes too so I make my images smaller to keep them about half a Gb.

inspired by one of @lindisfel 's lovely photo's (thank you :) ) and painted on Hahnemuhle Britannia
sort of mixed media, watercolour and pen ;)

A fine painting of a Lake District sunset, nice bright colours and strong sky light, I like the result very much.

Good morning everyone, it’s wetter than an Otter’s pocket here in the dark and dangerous north
The wonder wheel of king prawn egg fried rice (with zero noodles instead of rice) came in at 4.8 this am

An exciting day yesterday, the girl in the bubble began walking unaided and all thanks to a 50p ball that she was having the time of her life with, kicking it round the room (the back of our house is all open plan - kitchen, dining, sitting and another bit yet to be give an psychological profile). She suddenly bent down, picked it up and wandered off with it - champion.

Time speeded up a bit during the night (this usually happens only when we are moving) so it’s different from yesterday; “I was so much older then, I’m younger than that now” - so off out for lunch despite the dull day once Mrs Miggins returns - her sister was only discharged from hospital on the understanding that she would not be alone last night.

Anyhow, art bit today comes from the girl in the bubble (age 18 months) and a trio of doodles from my backing paper. Bins are out, have a wonderful day despite what the weather people say. Koffy time.

Congratulation to girl in the bubble, life is going to get a lot more active on her visits, a.budding artist also and of course she would choose the girly pink palette.

Yours ain't bad either, doodles are such fun and often turn out to be great art.

A Bob Dylan fan maybe? Malcolm Guite the poet rates Dylan as one of the great lyricists of our age.

I thought I would try a slightly different painting today. I was looking through some Chinese Masters. And I quite liked this guy, Lin Fengmian. A 20th century Chinese painter, who apparently also trained in Europe, so his painting is a mixture of styles. I liked his paintings of flowers and windows and thought I would try one of them in a similar manner to his. It was not easy. I could not get the net curtains, an hour later I was still trying to get those net curtains…

The whole painting took me far far too long. I don't like my painting of this at all. But tomorrow I will try one more of these paintings of his and see how I get on with it.

This painting is 893 kb in size...

Edit: now I have posted this painting, I can see I don't like the paper I chose in ZenBrush3. It has vertical lines on it which were not apparent in the app but are apparent on the Pixel phone screen. So, I won't be using that paper again!
Another experiment and in my eyes it works and looks very well executed.

Thank you both on Tryfan painting and good wishes for holiday,

All the elements of a good landscape from you, strong foreground with the interesting buildings, light in the middle ground especially on those hills below a stormy sky.

Our eldest spent a year in NZ in the early 90's, she intended to emigrate, but things didn't quite work out, however in the March and April we spent 5 weeks out there with her. Its a beautiful country and we were there after the volcanic eruption of Mt. Pinatubo in the Phillipines. Winter started early that year and we had the most incredible sunsets due to the dust from the eruption.

Perhaps Iceland may be having some effect? The sky was colourful again tonight and the winds have been in the northerly quarter of late.

I like Lin Fengmian and have copied some of his birds - mainly his cranes. Despite not liking the curtains and the vertical lines, it’s a good still life, well composed and with some lovely touches.
Thank you for your kind comments @dunelm

Your painting is coming along nicely @Muddy Cyclist

That is worrying about the Indian variant. I hope it doesn't get worse.

Thank you @geefull for the lovely kind compliments

Your painting is so beautiful, with the rolling hills in the foreground, and the far distance hills, and the perfect placement of the cottage with the hedge around it...for me, I wouldn't find placing that cottage in a field an easy thing to do naturally...

A winner for the not yet finished Tryfan 2 but what’s with taking gym equipment on a muddy cycle ride?

Thank you @geefull and good to know that the water has receded from your Mum’s drive. A quite splendid painting from you today - I do like it - lovely light rippling in the water
