good morning everyone from a dull and overcast day here in the dark and dangerous north
The wonder wheel of far too many birthday treats yesterday came in at 6.7 this am - must have been that Yorkshire Brack.

Despite the weather, a grand day out in Whitby yesterday and a fine sample of their fish and chips - pensioner portion - do go daft. Into the famous Hunters Sweet Shop - they specialise in old fashioned sweets and liquorice - including a sugar free variety - nice. Dinner at daughters house to finish off the day.

Funeral escort today so better get myself sorted out. Art - another bit of monoprinting. Hope that you all have a fabulous day. One more cup of koffy for the road.

The Dominic revelation came as no surprise. I think most of us who have seen life and seen what these characters have said, see what the Domshell said as just putting the lines in on a dot to dot picture.

We are not out of the wood yet because business didn't like stopping flights to and from India. If our vaccine does get overwhelmed by a variant, business will suffer a lot more.
I am not sure how a current democratic systems deal with such a continuing situation, it may need a government of unity run by a technocracy.

Love this monoprint (spellcheck keeps changing into moon printing) @dunelm
Cannot take your eye off spellcheck for a second...

Fish at Whitby sounds good. J and I did that long ago...
Hope the escort goes well...

6.3 this morning. Lots happening today. My sister is coming back to work in the office today. It is such a relief as I am slowly being buried under a rising pile of paperwork.

BT engineer is also due this morning to connect us to the supersonic broadband. BT say that there will be no disruption to our broadband while he is working. I do hope they are right.

I like this new technique you are trying out, a nice composition, good colour and shading, excellent use of the left over pink from the girl in the bubble. :)

Take care on your escort duties.

COVID update.. Lichfield School where our daughter teaches sees its first Indian Variant in the 6th form and two primary schools are closed because of the Indian Variant, the area levels are 11 in 100,000 but news about the Variant is worrying and to close for comfort. Family holiday next week so hoping these numbers don't suddenly expand causing Boris to clamp down on us.

Great painting

And a hug for the outbreak

Makes planning any sort of holiday way more stressful.

See people being turned away at airports because it's not a private test.

Nhs worker couldn't use the hospital's check she gets each week / daily.

Hope all's good & you can all enjoy the time away.

Sounds like yesterday was a fine ol' day.

Hope today goes as smoothly for all, as these events can be.

Thank you.

It's stressful enough trying to decide between packing winter or summer clothes for a UK holiday without the added Covid complications. :)

Another painting inspired by Lin Fengmian.
I was a bit more relaxed doing this one. I chilled out when doing the background before bed last night. Cat was asleep under the covers. But doing the vase and flowers and bowl this morning, I had a cat who was livelier than a cricket, and as many arms as an octopus. He was wrapping himself round my Pixel phone as I was trying to finish this. I am exhausted...

Yesterday, when I took Popeye for one of his daily walks round the garden. I don't let him out unattended because of the feral cat that attacks him, and because of his dementia, but I cannot take my eyes off him for a nanosecond because he vanishes. Yes, I have harness and lead, and I used to walk him on that, but he had always been an outdoors cat and misses it despite his dementia. So, we now have have a few walks round the garden...and he explores the undergrowth...but I blink and he is gone, then that is me exploring the undergrowth...

The back door is always open when we do this, to let fresh air in the bungalow. When Popeye is ready to come in, I then lock the back door and he goes to his fresh bowls of food I put out for him before we go for his walk.

Well, there was no food in either bowl, the biscuits and the wet food and his treats had gone. Each bowl was spanking clean, so I thought I must have forgotten to put his food out (I always put food out before we walk round the garden, thinking that he will come back in for it if I cannot find him when he has done his Houdini act, and he does...). I thought I must be getting dementia because this has happened a few times recently.

I refill his bowls and treats, and I go and lie down for a rest. I am just dozing off when I feel Popeye getting on my lap for a sleep. I am stroking him, my eyes shut. Then I feel another set of legs climb on to my legs. I open my eyes, and there is Popeye's girlfriend...

Aha, so I don't have dementia. Thank goodness. The cunning little minx has been creeping in when I walk Popeye round the back garden and stealing all his fresh food I have just put out.

So, here is my painting for today in ZenBrush3

I might do a couple of Lin's figures the next couple of days. I rather like his women figures. But I am not a figurative painter. Quick rough sketches I can do (ish), but I don't think I have tried doing figures as the main thing in the painting before. I will have a try...

Have a good day. I need a quick nap after wrestling with that cat...

File size is 710 kb
Just for your information, this file size has increased by 17kb just in the uploading @jjraak
So what you suspected might be true...

Thursday on the borderland twixt The Fens and Brecks, Suffolk, Cambs and Norfolk. Pebbles lobbed into the pond yesterday made ripples but calm as a millpond by daybreak. Swipey, an unreliable witness, reckons 4.7 for paprika (smoooked) chicken and salad. Sub-optimal but I'm thankful it is no higher. Cottage pie with celeriac topping, plucked from obscurity in a freezer, today - de-cluttering to either restock or rehome. Wonderful day yesterday @dunelm - did I miss your birthday, if so sorry. Wonderful landscape? @geefull and thanks on behalf of no 4 granddaughter who seems to have caught the Suffolk/US virus from nursery. @Krystyna23040 I do hope the BT operative lives up to their promise of no disruption. Lovely story about Popeye's girlfriend and wonderful art @gennepher. 2 little gels - cousins, obs - here today then grandson after school - borders a tad too porous?. Mary Poppins playing as I type. Enjoy your day as safely as possible.

No surprise, as you say.
But now we all know, and MSM can't ignore it anymore.

Going to make that a constant stinging barb in the govts side

Going to be interesting to watch Hancock smirk, wink & giggle his way through today's testimony.

As for covid,

Did see.

Interesting @jjraak,
I know there was some discussion early on by John Campbell that those relatively few who had survived Sars1 had some immunity to Covid 19!
But that may be a comment on the quality of their immune systems.
