What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

You were right Antje, to indicate "optimistic" ie - good idea but will it happen? It didn't - couldn't get the legs going again. So it was one meal today. Still have some of the liver and bacon left to use up. Just taken pain killers to see if that will do any good - probably just put me to sleep at this time of night.

B: ff greek with berries and seeds
L: 2 seedy crackers with an avocado and a cold sausage
Exercise class, shopping
D: went to local pub for the landlady's homemade curry but kitchen closed!!! So ended up in a poshed up pub nearby with a disappointing burger (no bun) asked for salad or veg instead of fries, but neither available to ate just a few of the fries. Drank mint tea. Hubby had pizza followed by cheesecake, had a mouthful of the cheesecake and wished I hadn't. Bland , overly sweet with even sweeter sauce on top. £40 for 2, wished I'd stayed home.

@maglil55 and others. Lidl has the 72% raspberry dark chocolate back in, and a dark chocolate at 27g carbs per 100 each.

Breakfast at 11:00am , an experimental ‘porridge’ made with coconut flour, flax seeds, yogurt, coconut milk and pumpkin seeds added at the end. I enjoyed it. Black coffee.
Lunch : slice of chicken and veg soup, more black coffee.
Dinner: 2 egg omelette with cheese and spring onion. Sparkling mineral water.

The pain killers did put me to sleep - quite grateful for that though. To bed by 10.15 pm - couldn't even wait for the dishwasher to finish and get turned off, so left it for Neil to deal with. Then, very silly, sat on the edge of the bed for a minute and closed my eyes, just to give them a short rest. Spent the next couple of hours swaying backwards and forwards, almost waking up and trying hard to do so. Finally dragged myself into consciousness around 1.15 am. Then got ready for bed and into it by 1.45. Woke again at 5.30 and got up for a while, but went back to bed about 8 o'clock and slept until 10.30.

Currently making a wholemeal loaf to Neil's recipe. It's not low carb, but if I only have a thin slice, it doesn't put my BG up. It takes 3 hours to bake in the breadmaker. I will eat before it's done though and keep it for either later today or tomorrow.

Breakfast will be the bubble and squeak I didn't have yesterday. Quite a lot of liver and bacon to go in it - cauliflower rice, some kale and onion. And I'll fry an egg to go on top. Need to blanch the kale first, so I'm off to do that. Probably won't need anything else today but might have a thin slice of bread.

Yesterday (March 17th)

Breakfast (9am): 0% greek yogurt and "keto granola", black coffee
Snack (10:30am): more black coffee
Lunch (12pm): Leftover spicy turkey meatballs with a red curry broth (all homemade)
Snack (3pm): None
Dinner (8pm): Beef burger patty with cheese, with sauteed oniones and mushrooms
Evening Snack (10pm) - No food, but two low carb beers

Walked 9.74km yesterday to bring my YTD total to 294.07km.

Intended to take a pic of the bubble and squeak - mainly for comparison with Antje's. But my camera has stopped working - tried changing the batteries - no use. I'll see if Neil can fix it. But I'm not waiting for my brunch and so shan't bother with a pic after all. Being cauliflower rather than potato, there's no way the "cake" will stick together, so no neat sections, it will just have to be spooned out. I am about the poach 2 eggs with onion and bell pepper embedded to go with it. (Neil is currently trying to fix the camera, if he can, maybe I'll take a picture after all.)

Camera is kaput! It needs a new something or other because although the batteries are fine, the camera doesn't agree and won't work. Trouble is it is something like 25-30 years old (Samsung digital) - one of the fairly early ones.
Edit: Didn't mean it to upload at that point.
So I don't suppose it has done too badly - I guess £360 30 years ago was pretty expensive but I can't complain. However, I expect things to last a lifetime - like all the old furniture, china and glass I can't throw away.

Lovely sunny day today definitely raises my mood.
Before yoga a few spoons of hm yoghurt
Lunch three egg omelette with peppers and a few spoons of hm sauerkraut followed by a few spoons of hm yoghurts and four squares of 100% chocolate
Dinner salmon with lemon butter served with cauliflower mash and asparagus with a glass of dry white wine followed by lc warmed gingerbread with spoon of hm yoghurts.

So today, I'm going to go (nearly said cannibal!) carnivore.
Don't go cannibal please!
While it might be fine from a nutritional point of view, chances are you'll get caught and you'll be stuck with prison fare for the foreseeable future. Which isn't likely to improve your diabetes.

Todays evening meal was a hamburger speciaal. :hungry: (Noticed how you're secretly learning to order all kinds of yummy foods if you ever visit the Netherlands just by reading my posts on this thread? :D)
No bun ('zonder broodje', should you ever need it), but lots of good stuff to go with it: Lots of endive, two thin slices of halloumi, two rashers of bacon, melted cheese, half a tomato, a small onion (biggest half fried, smallest half raw), mayonnaise and piri-piri sauce (which Lidl sold so I had to try).

My favourite used to be een uitsmijter. Not sure if that's spelt right. It's 62 years since I lived in Nederland

Two slices of low carb toast and vegimite for breakfast.
Slice or two off Amazing Grace's low carb cake she brought with her, when she came to do the dressing on my leg for smoko.
Roast of the day "beef rib" and veggies and gravy at the Brothers Sports Club for lunch.
Toasted cheese and onion sandwiches for supper at six.

A pix from our butchers web page, bbq time indeed.

@Riva_Roxaban , you Aussies certainly know how to do a barbecue. Would gladly help devour that offering. :D

Myfood choices have been rather boring of late. Have had a difficult time with BG management since my last covid booster jab, several months ago. Also weight plateau, at too high. Hence the bland choices, which will change this weekend, as I have achieved what I set out to do. I have also been to the butcher to stock up on goodies.:)
No breakfast today. Mid afternoon, had a few spoonsful of natural yogurt, with flax seed and pomegranate. Early evening salmon steak, with lemon and black pepper, and garlic buttered green beans. Much soda water, tap water and coffee throughout the day. Plus a lengthy swimming pool workout ,followed by some people watching having coffee on the terrace of my favourite eatery.

B: ff greek with seeds and 6 grapes
L: 90 second tuna bread (half from memory with few additions, 2 small eggs, blitzed with half a tin of tuna, sprinkle baking power, handful grated cheese, 1 tblspoon milled seeds, 1 tablespoon ground almonds, cooked in microwave until middle set, then toasted under grill with extra cheese on top). Very filling
Out at a quiz tonight, took cheese and olives to nibble on, then they serves 2 slice ham, 1 small piece quiche with small salad and jacket potato. Tried to resist the potato but couldn't. 1 piece my own hm lc cake as afters. 1 glass wine watered down with a lot of soda, bg was 10 by the time I got home.
Why can't I say "no", even to myself.

We came 3rd in the quiz, which was a pleasant surprise

I would not like to have to pay for that lot of steak at the prices he is charging at present, last time we got rib steak from him it was $32.00 a kg.

I would be in the queue for a steak or two as well, I do not know where he got the pix from as he is a member of several clubs in Bundy where it could be have been snapped. I know it's not barbeque plate.

I made something very similar at lunch yesterday, but mine was probably more of a tuna melt: 1 xl egg, whole can of tuna, handful grated mozzarella and 2 teaspoons of tomato/pepper/onion salsa, also done in the microwave.

However, I think yours is better, and will certainly try it next time.
