What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Bacon and egg sandwiches again for breakfast.
Grilled sweetlip fillet, green veggies for lunch.
Ham and salad sandwiches for supper at six.

Small glass or two of single malt before going to bed.

Got a home visit from the palliative care mob from the base hospital, coming around later today to see whats up and if I need anything. Now lets see what can I get... :angelic:

Saturday 3 September - bed 7.1 FBG 7.3

B. TAG and 2 slices of SLC toast with ox tongue and coleslaw.

It was another busy morning what with jujitsu first then a rush back as I had a grocery order coming but eldest grandson kindly came home with me to help get it in.

L. Nothing. Fed eldest some lunch then let him see a maths "trick" with long multiplication (which was "magical" enough to grab his attention and want to know how to do it) then out again to take DIL plus boys to cinema and collect Hubby from football.

D. Usual cold cuts - ham, roast beef, pork & egg, ox tongue, smoked chicken, smashed avocado and coleslaw.

@DJC3 - Email Abbott about your libre falling off. They'll replace it. You'll have to answer their many questions by email but they will replace it. Just tell them it fell off and it was properly applied.

Sunday 4 September - bed 7.6 FBG 7.1

Swimming lesson day. Hopefully, that's all.

B. TAG and 2 slices of SLC toast with ox tongue and coleslaw.

L. Nothing

D. Usual campari and soda. Pork chop with a mix of green and yellow beans, some home made apple sauce, pork chop topped with Emmental, cauliflower "steak" pan fried with parmesan and a tiny piece of roast potato.
Later, a Grenade ice cream bar.

Monday 5 September bed 7.8 FBG 7.7
Another busy day. Double school run, son & Dil went shopping in between then a mad dive to get them and shopping home before I rushed to an early Aqua class. Back to get eldest from school for lunch the back again Phew!

B. Just TAG.

L. A bit of crustless quiche while grandson was having lunch.

D. Leftover cold cuts. Ham, roast beef, pork & egg , smoked chicken, ox tongue, coleslaw and smashed avocado.20220904_184902.jpg

He definitely behaves like that at times!
Had to look up the word moggy, but yes, that's him! Found in a field with his brother at around 8 weeks old, no mother or people in sight. Turned out to be a very good cat, keen hunter, very independent, but also very good in the cuddle department. :)
I saw a bit of a news item which said that one area in Holland is experimenting with banning meat advertisements as an environmental measure! Not a good move from my point of view. It's not far away from banning meat sales, which could be disastrous!
It's more for use to hide the punch line of a joke, or what happens in the end of a movie.
Just good manners then.

Would be dreadful wouldn't it.

Stir fry for breakfast. Didn't look good but I thought I should have it anyway. Bit of a struggle to get it down though. It was mushrooms, onions, bean sprouts with some strips of Lorne sausage thrown in and finished with an egg. Might have been better without the sausage. Anyway, that'll be enough for the day, no doubt.

I have been cooking, while I felt able to do it. Hard boiled eggs to make various things with, stewing steak slow cooking with some ginger and paprika the remainder of the mushrooms, onion and bean sprouts to add later - lots there for 3 or 4 dishes, fish pie filling (some of the hb egg to go in that). Most of the cooking will go in the freezer.

Neil bought me a nice ripe pineapple at the supermarket, so will have to do something with that today. A pineapple upside down cake to give to Em's family for a dessert to save Alistair one job when he gets home. Not sure what else - there's quite a lot of the fruit there. Maybe a salsa to see if they like that. Bit too much sugar in pineapple for me.

It has been impossible to follow low carb diet for several months with houseguests staying. Now trying to get back on the wagon. Also to increase step count back to min 6k, preferably 10k and get back to daily exercise. Although if I manage twice a week to start will be good.
07.09
One boiled egg and approx 40g LC bread. Cup of tea.
Coffee. Coffee with SK milk not cream. Because I have put on some weight and am feeling fat even if scales say normal weight. It has never been normal for me to hang out over my jeans.
Lunch: mixed salad, spoonful of celeriac remoulade, another of coleslaw, half an avocado, ditto large tomato. Another egg . Water. Tea. No bread.
2 cups of tea.
Dinner. Pork chop, home grown runner beans, few carrots reheated left from yesterday. Potatoes same but this time roasted. Spoonful of ratatouille. Water to drink.
Planning to have glass of wine and later tilleul tea. If all goes well.

after having a dodgy back for weeks I now seem to have sciatica which is bad since we go to Cornwall for a week on Friday. Thankfully staying in cottage. Saw physio yesterday and have stretching exercises and GP has given me heavy duty NSAI meds but they are upsetting my tum so not sure. @MrsA2 thanks for kind comments and advice on the fasting thread which I am following.
@DJC3 sorry things are busy again. @Riva_Roxaban hug for the bleed hope the bedtime dram will be possible again soon. @Annb hope the toorh issues are better and @MrsA2 hope the cold is mild and swift.

Had a couple of spoons of egg mayo around 2.30 - just because I was making it ready for putting in the fridge and just felt like it. The rest is in the fridge for another meal, another time. Some more of the chopped up egg, without the mayo, went into the box with the fish pie filling, ready for tomorrow's meal. The beef will keep for a day or 2 but about 3/4 of it will go into the freezer once it has cooled sufficiently. There wasn't as much to the pineapple as I thought so it ended up just as an upside down cake. It wasn't ready by the time Em had to go home, so it is sitting on my worktop cooling down and they'll get it tomorrow. I must not dip in. I must not dip in. I must not dip in.....

Throat was really sore when I woke this morning, so listened to my body and stayed in bed until early afternoon. (Negative for covid)
Just had small chunk of cheese about 12.
Mainly read the forum and listened to talks from a Kick Sugar Summit. Most of the usual speakers so have tried some new to me. Some contrasting opinions, especially around salt.
Particularly interested in how much is evolving around mental health and nutrition/gut health (wishing I could get a younger relative to cut carbs as a start)
Did eventually get up, yay!
D: burger, no bun, courgettes. Hm lc yoghurt

@PenguinMum also check out yoga stretch called the pigeon, and don't be afraid to do it in public! Really helps and reduces pain so dignity can go out of the window. Anything to get rid of the pain. [[[Hugs]]]

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and a DGF cookie.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and a Carb killa bar.
Dinner: tuna melts with runner beans and mushrooms followed by SF raspberry jelly and cream.

I just looked it up (https://www.google.com/search?q=yog...e&ie=UTF-8#kpvalbx=_6usYY9HiDo-dkgWEtJzwCg_18) and now I'm picturing myself doing this at random places like in the supermarket or on the sidewalk...

[Sternest mod voice] Ann B, you stay away from that cake, it's not yours! Or else!

As for myself, I still have to cook at 9:15 PM, so something tells me it's not going to happen today.
I guess a slice or two of low carb bread will have to make do, tomorrow is a new day!

But, Antje, it is looking so delicious and inviting. I'm not hungry though, so it's safe. And it'll be cool enough to pack up by bedtime; then it's totally safe.

And as for "The Pigeon" - oh boy. I was actually that flexible once, but not for a long time. The last time my knee bent that far, I had to call for help to get me up off the floor. That was around 2010 or so. Even then, it was a foolish move that put me in that position.

I can’t really blame Abbot - I was pulling my top off and grabbed the Libre by accident when I meant to tug on my sleeve. Mea culpa.
