What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good afternoon everyone from a day of starkly polarised emotions in this household. Second Christmas with four grandchildren, Santa left presents at our house as he was tired . Soon it will be turkey with many of the trimmings including Iggle Piggles in blankets. Meanwhile, Nan London, 93 exactly a week today, is in hospital on an intravenous antibiotic drip, steroids and permanent oxygen. No visitors allowed but she answered her phone today: she is some fighter DNR or not. @gennepher hug for getting wet and cold yesterday and thanks for the creative. After all the feline cuddles tomorrow should bring a much brighter outlook. @dunelm thanks for sharing both the art and that snippet of family life - wonderful. Bin day (black) is tomorrow here. No 3 son says Ely won't hear of black bins, too unsightly. Split black sacks and rodent infestations are so much more comely. @alf_Josiah I hope the face to masked? face is whatever it needs to be. @dogslife pre-birthday wishes and I hope the celebration is truly memorable. @Annb hug for the bank issue and e-consult. JKP phoned 111 for her mum Tuesday around 2.00 pm. Finally made contact yesterday at 3.55 pm - how can we help?. Meanwhile, after a failed e-consult - not enough staff -.and call to her surgery another 111 call worked and her mum was already as described above. Today’s poem from Malcolm Guite’s anthology. More sprouts anyone?
Thank you Ian.

You take care with everything going on at your end.

Let's hope the HBA1c is better then hoped or next meds hit the mark better...< Prayers >
Thank you@jjraak. You are very kind. I am trying not to dwell on my blood sugar situation as I am doing all I can to control it but clearly it's not working. Birthday afternoon tea plans are now underway. Enough people are available , invitations accepted and most food now purchased. Just a few more items to buy today. No plans for New Years Eve so will have time to prepare everything. All the best to you and yours for a good new year.:)

All the best for Nan London. My father is 95 and seems to have be in and out of hospital quite a bit this year. He really needs a couple of stents but steadfastly refuses and also has a DNR. For us observers, it’s always a bit of touch and go. Take care.

A very wild night in Cumbria, even with all the double glazing and thick walls plus insulation it was like a banshee howling over night.
Forecast for next week wet and windy.
Hope you all have a good day.
Derek
Same here. I thought that we had won tickets to some sort of niche heavy metal gig.

Smashing art to greet the morning.

Good morning everyone from the survivors of the storm here in the dark and dangerous north. The Ninky Nonks and Little Miss Pamplemouse are up and about and reenacting an episode of Grayson’s Art Club. The Ninky Nonks are dressed as Grayson and Phillipa while Little Miss Pamplemouse is playing guest artist Pru Leith who keeps banging on about kumquats and the perfect fillings for vol-au-vons over the festive period. They are leaving for home in a couple of hours and it has been wonderful having them here despite their out of the world play scenarios. I need special medication to get that imaginative. Art bit - some shading and colour added so on with something else. Hugs to all that need them and I hope that you and yours have the best day possible despite the weather and somewhat suspect 111 service. Koffy must now be made and enjoyed.

Oh dear @dunelm I've just slipped off the side of those steps....WHOOOOOOSH.....back into my nightmare dream where I fall and fall...and wake up when I hit the bottom...

Enjoy that coffee....

Morning everyone from a not properly rainy and only halfheartedly breezy Brecks. Heartfelt thanks for the hugs and good wishes for Nan London (our grandchildren now call her that though none knew any other great grandparent and she moved from London well over 30 years ago): @gennepher @Krystyna23040 (yes, she is some fighter) @jjraak @alf_Josiah @Annb. @lindisfel thanks for asking after me. As far as my bloods so far reveal I have no adverse reactions from treatment - did I speak too soon? @dunelm thanks for the concern and yes, the observers feel the tension keenly. JKP has enough on her plate. Talking of which, the turkey (any remains now binned and taken away) was a great success and JKP valued the business and time with our children and grandchildren. Nan London yesterday set up a page to donate to the British Heart foundation in lieu of any presents for her birthday so her spirit is still unbelievably strong and her mentis is somewhat compos. Meanwhile today is beef collection day for round two of #troughinggate tomorrow. Salmon salad has rarely seemed so appealing. Have whatever kind of day boils yer bacon.

@gennepher thank you for the creative which holds out some much needed hope of brighter times and enough water to quench our thirsts meanwhile. @dunelm that isn’t just some added shading and colour it is a supreme transformation of an already stunning work. Sad news of the deaths of Pele and Vivienne Westwood. Enormous strength from the father of a friend to read that at her funeral. People find amazing strength when they love enough. As with the hope and water, one could almost detect something much deeper going on - surely not?

Just read through "Christmas" by George Herbert, Ian. The concept of coming upon faith, completely unaware, must be quite well known, but for me, at least, it was a totally new concept, all those years ago. Even now, I find it strange but exciting to have been allowed that experience.

The Shakespeare song is one I had missed in the past. It is up there with John Donne's poem "Death be not proud... " (Sonnet 10). Love John Donne's work. Shakespeare, too, has his moments.

FBG 3.9 - that's because I had to take a correction dose of insulin late yesterday evening when BG shot up to 16.4. Perhaps I overdid the dose a bit.
