What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Black coffee until lunch around 1:30
SLC roll filled with cheddar, slice of turkey breast and h/m turmeric&ginger sauerkraut. Then frozen raspberries mixed with cream and h/m yoghurt and grated 100% chocolate on top.
Dinner - any minute now will be a sort of curried mince mixture I found in the freezer( seems to be a lot of this sort of meal on here today) with cabbage chucked in. Possibly a DGF cake afterwards if I can face the thought of black tea with it ( forgot to buy milk today) IMG_1842.jpg

Black sausage - 2 slices and 2 fried eggs for breakfast. Feeling quite comfortable with that so far. Plenty of tea. Only 2 slices of the sausage left so I might have to make more soon. Maybe make haggis sausage instead. Neil bought me another haggis last week and I will only use a bit of it as haggis itself. Actually remembered to take my pills this morning.

Well - I took the Metformin, the Zemtard, the Levothyroxine and the Aspirin but didn't take either diuretic because I have to go to the medical clinic at the hospital at 4 pm for some reason and there's no way that I could go if I took those pulls.

When I come back, there is still a little of the cold chicken left - I didn't have much of it last evening. So will mix it in a cream sauce with some mushrooms (easier the better after going out).

The wind has eased a little bit since early morning - not enough to let the ferries run or the planes fly, so we are cut off right now. Still, Neil reckons it's not so bad that he can't drive me to Stornoway. While I am in the hospital, he will go and see if there's anything left in the shops. The wind is supposed to get worse tomorrow so transport is off until Friday at the earliest. DIL is booked on for the Friday ferry now and hoping for the best so that she can get the pups to their new homes.

If Neil can't get mushrooms, will have to use the dried ones I've been keeping in the larder for ages.
Neil says the shops weren't empty although some things were conspicuously absent. Mushrooms for one thing.

Doctor wants to refer me to the dietician again. Putting on all this extra weight isn't doing my liver any good, he says. Seemed to be hinting at some other way of losing weight (suspicious). The nurses spent half an hour trying to get blood out of me and eventually called for someone from another department to come and try. She also struggled but did find a vein which (unwillingly) gave up some blood, on the side of my left hand. Hurt a bit, but so did the unproductive attempts. Several bruises and plasters are now decorating my arms. Just what I needed to complete this new look I am cultivating (scruffy, tired and worn). ;)

@Antje77 thank you so much for update from @Riva_Roxaban - we are all I'm sure thinking of him and hoping he's feeling the hugs from his friends here on the forum.
@Annb you sound as if you are having tough times just now and clearly the bad weather makes it harder hope things settle soon.
@RosemaryJackson as @DJC3 says take one day at a time - you can only keep going and trying your best. Moderating your carbs and monitoring how certain foods affect you and then taking action is best thing to do re getting your diet right but there will always be times even when you've eaten no or very few carbs when your bgs don't make sense but bgs are also raised by stress and also exercise especially it it's intense. Our cortisol is always too helpful rushing to make glucose available to escape the mythical tiger!
Food today
Black coffee until 12ish then two fried eggs and mushrooms on one slice of LC toast followed by kefir and one square of 100% chocolate
5ish hm passata with venison meatballs followed by LC cake warmed served with yoghurt.

See!
People are crowding to give me their plates, proof of my rare talent!

About to have chicory leaves with hummus before bed.
I am so happy that that is firmly back on the menu after a break for almost three years. I love it for a midnight snack but for a very long time I couldn't eat it without crying for memories of my first dog who died 3 years ago. I've tried a couple of times over the past years without success, and now it works again without getting all emotional! (Not that I mind getting emotional over missing a loved one, but it's not the best thing right begore sleeping.)

I’m happy for you too! I still get sad sometimes, missing our old dogs, so I do get it, but I’m glad you can eat your favourite bedtime snack again.
Thank you for your later post re @Riva_Roxaban I had noticed he wasn’t about recently. Hope he’s not in pain and will feel up to posting now and again.

B - 2 cups of decaff with unsweetened almond milk and a dash of cream
L - Scrambled eggs with mashed avocado on a seeded Ryvita, only because I knew I could work it off as I was busy sorting out boxes
D - 2 homemade salmon lupin flour fishcakes and green salad, one benecol drink and a cuppa tea :)

Another one here sending good wishes to @Riva_Roxaban

Day 3 of no nuts, dairy or alcohol (2 out of 3 again)

10:30 2 cold 95% sausages
1pm. M&s cafe. Had a black coffee with an individual pot of clotted cream (75p) while watching dear hubby eat a sandwich and an enormous piece of cake. (I had one small bite)
Hadn't even looked at the menu thinking it's all carbs, but then found they do a Shakuska, tomato and pepper stew with egg and feta £6 and 330 cals, no carb info of course. But might try it next time. If anyone else gets there first please let me know

D: another mince here! Must be weather. Made mine into a chilli (put majority of the beans into boys portions, probably a tablespoon in mine), served with celeriac mash (only mashed with butter and olive oil, would usually use cream cheese and extra cheese), small broccoli
50g greek yog with 10g seeds.

This back to tracking is interesting. Way under on the fats again, over 20g carbs target to 26.
Struggling to find something non dairy other than yoghurt to take with my daily seeds and supplements

Not having the best of moods today (no idea why, it happens) and didn't want to cook.
So I had a low carb equivalent of a sandwich and called it a meal.

LC cracker with a very satisfying amount of butter, plus marmite and cheese.
Fried egg with sucuk and cheese, black pepper, smoked paprika on LC slice of bread. (Accidentally broke the yolk and also broke the other egg that was supposed to accompany this one when trying to take it from the carton. Kittens and dogs to the rescue so no cleaning up needed.)

Med too. Not ion a bad mood, just tired after my ride in the car and then wheelchair ride to the hospital and back, and feeling cold and a bit shaky (not a hypo - I checked). Chopped up the soaked mushrooms and mixed with the chicken and cream, then didn't bother to heat it because I really don't feel like eating. Probably breakfast.

You could freeze some milk in an ice cube tray, then when you forget to buy, you still have some to use. I read that hint somewhere.

Morning all. @Riva_Roxaban, hope you are soon feeling better. Cwc just now. Lamb shank with broccoli, cauli and carrots for Omad and small piece of cheese at teatime. At home, I am finding this woe great, it's when I eat out it falls flat on it's face! I wish I could find somewhere where they take diabetics into account. I'm going to drop a few hints in future. See if it works and anyone takes up the challenge. Have a good day everyone

I believe there is a keto place in London, someone on this thread will know I think. And I've been to a very nice small place called Keto Bite UK in Frinton. :)

It was the flatbread pushed me over. And reading the ingredients makes me wonder if my recent stomach issues are connected to wheatflour.

I had a small slice of sourdough in the last few days after avoiding it for 2 weeks and had a dodgy gut afterwards, had a few tests a few years ago for a constant dodgy gut, no allergy, not coeliac, but said I might just have an intolerance to it so avoid it,

Did for a while and tested it on occasion and ended with a dodgy tum for a day or two after. I even got caught out at a BBQ once when the host said there was no wheat in a kofte type kebab, but later I phoned the butcher to check the ingredient list (yep it had wheat flour in it) funny thing is after a while it seemed to resolve, but I feel after a while something builds up and I can't tolerate bread, esp wholemeal/brown bread. - insta heartburn/indigestion/dodgy tum for next day or two.

Gotten a hold of a meter, many thanks to @Antje77 (fair play on the cheese nibbles! does seem a bit of a faff though) for summoning and @Rachox for pointing me in the right direction.

Back on topic, I haven't posted meals last few days, moves fast in here! mainly been keeping low carb and sensible, bringing down the amount of food ingested as much as the carb levels because I need to shift a fair bit of wibble. Had to start slowly though as not to feel hungry/crave rubbish, was eating far more meat than I usually do in the last few weeks.

B - Skipped apart from 2 decaf coffees with cream etc
L - Left over minced lamb with mashed swede
D - Chicken with a teaspoon of gravy, teaspoon of mash and stuffing. I hope I dont get too much of a bg rise as it was 5.8 earlier, surprising with the day I have had!

Coffee and cream x 2
Herring
Raspberries and cream
Ham
Smoked salmon

Black coffee until around 12 when had one slice of LC bread toasted (I've got several hi lo low carb loaves in freezer from Sainsbury's at the moment as they were reduced - I split the loaf by cutting up small bits of kitchen towel which I use to separate the slices and then put back in bag and then able to help myself to one frozen slice at a time.)served with three eggs scrambled in butter followed by a few nuts, square of 100% chocolate and portion of kefir
5ish slow cooked beef served with cauliflower cheese followed by low carb cake warmed and then eaten with yoghurt.just sipping a mug of peppermint tea I often have a glass of wine on Thursday after 3 alcohol free days but I'm going for my annual diabetes blood draw and feet check tomorrow so will wait till tomorrow for my dinner glass of wine. After I finish my peppermint tea it will be water only as always fast for my full lipid panel.
My appointment is early so may well celebrate with an earlier first meal when get back, although it will be coffee I'll be craving by time I climb up the hill home from the medical centre.

Day 4 of no nuts, dairy or alcohol

My first meal started at 11 and ran through to about 2:30 as I had nothing planned and ended up nibbling
1 egg with mayo
70g garlic sausage
1 m&s flatbread with butter
1 sq hm lc frozen chocolate mousse
1 sq 85% chocolate
1 sq hm lc coffee cake
Another flatbread with butter (thank heavens they've all gone now)

Couple of errands in town
4 grapes
20g ham

D: mince on broccoli. Tried adding extra virign olive oil as a dressing to the broccoli but too much came out. Don't really like olive oil but need to something drastic to up fats to satiate as craving cheese and cream

Think my no dairy is going to have to exclude butter and yoghurt, which should be OK as trying to loose some weight and cutting cheese and cream totally

I won't have anything else today except peppermint tea and water.
Will be doing at least an hours dancing
