What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Morning all. Well, I didn't have the pudding yesterday! Rather proud of myself for that. Thanks @Annb, I'm so happy I've found a woe after all these years that works. I've never been able to stick to it before. To run with the thread, I have 2 Bratwurst sausages, streaky bacon, eggs and tomatoes for lunch. If I'm peckish at teatime I'll have a slice of cheese. I need to be able to get off Metformin. It affects my legs. They ache and I find I can't walk far without a walking stick. Have a good day all

Couldn't do anything about intended meal of cold duck breast and a little salad. Couldn't really move at all, despite pain killers. I had sat and chopped leeks and one potato to add to soup pot and Neil added them to the pot for me along with some bits of cold chicken to make a simple soup. That's what I had for my meal.

That's also what I had for my breakfast because I still can't do much this morning, despite a larger dose of codeine along with my normal pain killers. I do have some hard boiled eggs in the fridge which I might have as a snack about lunch time. Also still have the cold duck breast to do something with. At present I can still hobble from my big chair to the table, and the fridge. Just took a normal dose of pain killers - just to keep on top of it. I really don't want it to get back to yesterday's pain level. I think the leeks in the soup were a bit much but the codeine element in the pain relief keeps insides fairly comfortable.

Tried to get a phone appointment with a GP to see what else I can do but, at 8.35 am, I was too late. They are issuing appointments for phone calls and there are none left available today. We used to be able to ask for a call back at the doctor's convenience but now they seem to be allocating on-the-day phone appointments and you just have to take your chance on getting one. I'll try again tomorrow.

Oh no, how awful :( that sounds very challenging. The morning window to make urgent gp appointments is difficult sometimes what with the phones being engaged/etc.

Do they have an e-consult thing at your gp? We do here and the doctors review each thing that comes in, and triage it, sometimes avoiding the need to phone early and they still see it in day, although always found it best to phone as well if needed (and can get through!)

Posting earlier today as I've just heard my annual blood results and I'm feeling relieved. My appointment with Diabetes specialist nurse not until Thursday but results posted on my online medical records. All normal again phew with Hba1c at 35. Six years ago I made a decision to go low carb. My diagnosis hba1c 8 years ago was 97 and for first two years I was taking Metformin and following the recommended diabetes low fat diet at that time and it wasn't working that well for me. Since switching to low carb eating all my hba1cs over past 6 years have been in 30s - see my profile signature for more info.I was able to come off and stay off all medications due to my improved health. Only thing they regard as abnormal now and will be the sole focus I'm sure of my Thursday appointment is my higher than they like LDL but I have no plans to start statins especially as I had a 0% heart calcium score last year (I volunteered to take part in a heart healthy study called Predict at Leicester University) I'm particularly pleased with my blood results this year as I've had a tough year losing my mum and lots of increased stress related to caring especially.

Fasting as usual until 1ish when had one slice of LC toast, salad and salmon pate followed by kefir, nuts and square of 100% chocolate
Planning valentine's day meal with OH of steak, mushrooms and salad with halloumi fries and a glass of wine to celebrate will be followed by a low carb brownie warmed and served with yoghurt.

B - 2 rather very thin Ryvita with a little butter, mug of tea with almond milk
L - x2 pieces of Palma ham, 1 cup of decaff coffee with cream and a few olives
D - Was going to be stir fry but still not hungry so many leave it until I am or if I ever am again, seem to not be hungry at all

Oh no! Hope they’re ok!

They seem fine if a bit battered and travel weary! The ones I’ve tried have been really nice, thanks for the recommendation, just a bit too pricey for regular orders. ( Maybe just as well) I’m looking forward to trying the pizza dough in the next couple of days.

Very well done keeping on track after such a difficult year. Enjoy every mouthful of your celebratory valentines meal.

Brunch - fried ahh and cheese in SLC roll
Mid aft- half of a Yummzy cheesecake slice ( they are huge)
D- a large and lovely, and very rare, rump steak (my daughter brought round a couple this evening, she’s been helping at her friends farm - grass fed shorthorn beef) with fried mushrooms and onions and a wedge of iceberg lettuce with blue cheese dressing. For those who have been to a Miller&Carter restaurant, that’s the sort of thing I was aiming for. 2 glasses red. IMG_1893.jpg

Brunch - fried ahh and cheese
Is fried ahh and cheese a very cool sounding dish or a typo?

My dinner was a low carb wrap with grated raw celeriac, mayo, arugola, halloumi, sucuk, and the last little bit of store bought egg mayo and 'old cheese mayo'. (Not kidding, it's a thing in the Netherlands. We have countless variations of mayo based stuff to put on crackers or sandwiches, the names are always a combination of the main ingredients followed by 'salade' or 'slaatje'. Which doesn't mean it has anything to do with salad.)

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and a food dr bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and DGF lemon cookie.
Dinner: gammon steak with cauliflower, broccoli and carrots followed by SF blackcurrant jelly and cream.

Brunch - 2 slices slc toast topped with roasted cheese, Mug of earl grey tea

Dinner (out) at my favourite indian restaurant - (starter) mushroom chaat, (main) chicken shimla with mushroom rice - I basically scoop out all the mushrooms and leave the remaining rice, although a very small amount of rice stick to the mushrooms but not enough to spike me - I didn't test before eating tbh but 2 hours later my bs were 6.4 (good result imo), I thereafter had some kefir & mixed berries once home and of course did a walk (as I usually do each night after dinner if I am able to, to walk off any nasty whatevers/keep me fit and active) ;)

@DJC3 Have you come across a new cakes/treats company if so please share :hungry:

Sadly a typo. It was egg and cheese which sounds very boring now.
I quite like the sound of old cheese mayo though.

@Goonergal found them but lives in the locale so can collect without relying on DHL. https://yummzy.co.uk
The postage was eye watering and the cakes are expensive but very nice. More an occasional treat I’d say. I’ll probably stick to DGF and Royal Mail in future.

Aw, I was afraid so. I guess we need to invent an amazing dish called fried ahh and cheese (or maybe awe and cheese?) now to make up for our disappointment.

I'll have a look at the ingredients of the old cheese mayo (oudekaassalade although they misspell it as oude kaas salade on the package, which is just wrong in Dutch, it's the influence of the English language plus the Google being English based and working best when adding in spaces where they shouldn't be - sorry, I'll get my coat now, pet peeve) ...

Anyway, I'll look up the ingredients so you can adapt it and make a better version, substituting all the nasties for real ingredients!
It'll have to wait until tomorrow though, my foot hurts without reason, very annoying, so I'm not taking the stairs again today.
I hope I can find the tub again, gave it to one of the dogs to finish so no telling where it ended up. :hilarious:

Tomorrow afternoon I'll be playing board games with a friend, which will involve food. :joyful:
She called me to double check if her plans were diabetes friendly, so very nice! (Stuffed bell pepper, no rice, yes. Nuts, yes. Sweet potato or pumpkin, NO! Don't know about diabetes but those are a couple of the very few foods I really, really dislike, glad she asked!)
I'll bring nutty chocolate icecream made months ago and then forgotten about, and maybe a wrap as well, if I feel creative tomorrow morning. :)

Morning all. Beautiful day here, hope for all of you too. Bf had my coffee with cream (finished the Christmas Baileys, tried the Ballycastle from Aldi but wasn't the same at all) and for lunch, sausage casserole with cabbage, celery, carrot and onion and if needed piece cheese or ham at tea. I realise it's probably not a true Omad but it works for me. Have a good day all
