What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Just put a gammon joint on to boil to make baked ham later in the day. Also made one large and one small jar of apple and pear pickle. Next thing to make will be mincemeat, but can't do that until Monday because I've run out of fruit juice and will need either apple or orange juice instead of the sugar and alcohol in good shop bought mincemeat.

Should be roast lamb shoulder today, but I have spicy chicken left over so will need to have that today instead. Roast lamb for Monday? Why not? I could roast it today and have it cold tomorrow, but I don't think so. Roast lamb should really be eaten hot.

Morning all from Soggy Bottom and every other part of the body corporeal if one sullies forth. @Krystyna23040 them there doggies are so, so wise. @Annb I hope Em sleeps for Scotland bless her. @JohnEGreen what a thoughtful act, God bless you. @SlimLizzy hug for Mr Slim's back and the wet. @Lamont D take it easy and enjoy the footie - is Tranmere your team? @dunelm thanks for sharing the art and do buy up to help out. We helped the aspirational butcher, fishmonger and cheesemonger yesterday. I took some Sashimi tuna and Octopus off their hands - only to help out you understand - and JKP found some real faggots - proper caul. We also ordered Christmas - 1 “hamper” of each. Some intriguing possibilities invoked by a herb fed bronze turkey - my time in parts of South London put things in my head that will never leave. Naively I never thought about farmed Octopus since all my experience has been with boat to table but obviously Ely is not called Octopussly - oops. Y'all have whatever kind of Saturday boils ya bacon - (low, slow, roast Porchetta then crisp up the crackling separately for me thanks.)
Yes mate, the superwhites or Rovers have been a huge part of my life in sport. And I will be trekking down this afternoon to Prenton Park.

5.6 this footie infested, though really wet and windy since last evening. Lots of puddles and foliage in my front garden.
Again retested, and same result bar 0.1 mmols. So I'm really pleased with getting two out of three days back below six!
When I mentioned an easier morning, I never took into account a couple of accidents that Mrs L has so not only that to contend with but more shopping than I imagined last night. My lad is not coming around, so I had to vacuum cleaner the lounge (front room) hate sounding posh! And kitchen mopping again (don't ask!)

Gotta go, things to do and get ready, food to be done for Mrs L.

My best wishes to you all as always.

The gammon sounds excellent!
Why not add cucumber and onion in vinegar (not malted)
Highly recommended!

Good morning everyone on what may or may not be a damp squib of a day here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.8 this am. Leg getting back to whatever normal a partly worn leg gets back to so it’s all T minus whatever they say in films for the Farmers Christmas Market - I know - sounds expensive but there are scotch eggs from The Clucking Pig and freshly made sourdough boules to purloin as well as some Kimchi. And who knows what home made crafts will be on offer that are just the perfect gift at Christmas and not made by small children in dark warehouses in foreign parts or even out of foreign parts. Art bit - I know, I fiddled about with it. Have the best Saturday come to market day that you can. I simply must consume some civet assisted Koffy.

It still looks good!
Enjoy the rest of your day @dunelm

Our friend next door arrived back home late yesterday afternoon and has been told that it was not a TIA or ministroke but a stroke they tried to do a MRI but she got so agitated that they had to take her out of the machine and will try again in a day or so with sedation she has been given a prescription for about nine meds which will cost her about £60 per month so her son has done her a prepayment certificate when Mel went next door to keep her company she found that she had not eaten all day because it was difficult for her to cook and her husband was at work so as we were having a take away I put an extra order on and Mel took it in for her it was no trouble and we could not let her go hungry.
Very thoughtful. It’s what good neighbours do.

Thank you @ianpspurs and so helpful to local traders your honour. Ever so ‘umble. Barkis is willing. “Boy, is that large herb feb turkey in the window still for sale?” - Meagre pickings for me - far too many pastry and cake stuff but did manage some venison and a few line caught mackerel. Porchetta - now yer talking.

That gammon join and some of that pickle sounds good. Don’t mind cold lamb sandwiches - cold goose as well if you like but there is never much left.

I have never heard about or read the attached before. Comes from this piece. As an aside, this guy sounds quite the character and comparing Bojo to him is genius. Stay away fron Skeggy is my advice.

Wonder if that lion likes cobras? They meet from time to time in the dark corridors of No10? I expect the Italians will be re-introducing the quaint practice of decimation to the world stage any day now. Roll up, just one in 10 for now.

I had to go out (no choice) in this foul weather. It never relents.
Came back and all I want to do is sleep...
Just woke up, but creativity is dead as a Dodo...

A kaleidoscope of my address book...horrid isn't it? I cannot even make a nice kaleidoscope today...

Wildlife nighttime camera
Foxy Loxy makes the mistake of jumping on swing next to Cat Jade...
Cat Jade packs a punch.
Midnight would be proud of her...
24 seconds

I need to get up and make another flask of tea..
Midnight is a very good hot water bottle which is why I don't want to move...

You might not like it, but I do. A bit more muted than usual - maybe that's your mood at present - but fascinating shapes and an attractive whole.

I do make pickled cucumber in white wine vinegar but, for some reason, I never finish it and eventually throw it out. I think I just prefer my cucumber raw or roasted. But it is usually just cucumber pickled. Maybe I should try again with onion this time.

Em finally woke up and came through to the kitchen about 1400 and has now had tea and buttered crumpets. Filling in time until she woke, I shredded a lot of papers to make filling for the lucky dip I am putting together for the family at Christmas. Managed to jam the shredder twice, but it wasn't too difficult to free. Turned out that some of the paper had glue on it - the shredder wasn't keen.

Thank you very much @Annb
My work reflects my mood.
I cannot make it any different.
You are kind...
I agree with Nick (look where that led :arghh: ) @Annb the kaleidoscope is splendid but I'll admit I'm a sucker for your kaleidoscopes. Your view on your creatives sounds like my view on shots I hit at cricket - others thought they were great but nearly 50 years on I'm still unhappy. Have a rest and reflect later on how people value your creatives.

Winner for doing something even when weary and your very fancy address book makes a splendid kaleidoscope. Enjoy that flask of tea and the catawaterbottle.

Morning all. I was going to say it is Sunny here but it is actually Friday and the birthday of our *middle son. Good memories of that day and also sadness that so many cast members are no longer here. He and his family are in Winchester.which feels like a major personal failure, especially since DIL’s parents live in France and we help his brothers so much. Two dogs and 93.99 yo MIL are an issue - dogs can go in kennels though. We are meeting for a "family" meal with two other sons on Sunday - in Milton Keynes - 2 grandchildren missing :bigtears: . To me one can’t have a family meal in a restaurant - it is just “wrong” but logistically that is all that works. Another DIL's brother is getting married on the other good date. We did hire an Air B and B "down" there once but the cast list has grown greatly. and so have the problems. Two poems today on a theme repeated day after day here in various ways. Like a water colour compared to those vivid ones but showcasing the very best of us as humans. Care for our nearest and dearest (be they very close or across the channel) neighbours cared and prayed for, God’s creation lovingly fed and protected, love in every lesson and move planned and delivered, advice freely given, sharing (practical) jokes, humour or woodworking and baking skills, - Kenosis. Y'all recognise yourselves. C16th poem here C20th one here very apt for JKP and I today @dunelm and @gennepher thanks for sharing the art - Narnia theme today in my strange mind. @gennepher have a rest today and @dunelm I hope you heal well for the big spend tomorrow. @Annb I think Neil’s reaction would have been mine: I’m imagining @dunelm reprising that scene repeatedly on the morrow. @Jacks1213 big hug. Cancer is a bit of a barsteward - ain't it just?. Personally the idea one can stand up to it drives me mad in its inanity - perhaps arrogance is a better word? - but I thank God for the effort people make on behalf of all we who succumb. Enjoy your day even though I post this drivel. *(subtitles work well on song)
You mean you don't have grannie kennels down south, you have spas for horses!
D.

I do sound as though if I were chocolate I'd myself at times so thanks for the gentle ribbing. In my defence - oops, very Bojoesque - purchasing meat locally basically involves boutique outlets or goodness knows what one is eating. In my circumstances I feel my best plan is to do due diligence, buy and eat the best quality food I can which is how I was raised. Besides, I appreciate the touch of irony coming from one who uses a farmers market :D

I know how that goes - I would rather have better and less than never mind the quality, feel the width and due diligence wins out.
