What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

This is Archie's last day with us. He had a lovely breakfast of chicken and rice but could hardly stand up. He then collapsed and we had to carrying to his bed. He is 17 years, 2 months and 7 days old.

We are so lucky to have had such a wonderful dog for so long.

I was making my coffee and cream this morning when in came a massive marmalade cat. You're that nice lady his face said. Good morning I said. Then in through the kitchen door came in a black ball of fury, and escorted the marmalade cat off the premises...

That darned badger again, Pa Badger on the swing, and the fox jumped up when Badger jumped down. I think Fox wants to know the attraction for the badger. He cannot fathom it out.

This pen is still too black for me...

Stuff to do now.

A cuppa tea first.

So sad to lose such an old friend. But he had a great life with you and all the love he could have wished for.

BG was doing fine yesterday afternoon and early evening - in the 6's - but later on the day I had some blackberry coulis (no sugar) with double cream and BG shot up to 11.1 and there it stayed. 0330 it was still 11.1, gradually dropped to 10.7 which is where it's at now. If I could think about breakfast, it would probably go down under the influence of insulin, but I'm too tired and stiff this morning - and cold. Had 3 cups of tea, not that I really enjoy tea these days, but I certainly don't want coffee. Spoke to a nurse yesterday, on another health issue, and she says I should drink decaffeinated tea or coffee. I'll ask Neil to get some next shopping day and try it, but I have a feeling I didn't get one with it in the dim and distant past. But it's that or water (or Rooibush - and that's definitely not on) Of course, I could go down the route of meaty drinks but I can't see me having much of that either.

Never mind - just having a bad day today. I'll cheer up in a bit. Maybe read a book. Just got a copy of the Ade Edmundson autobiography. It looks interesting.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and commiserations for the loss of a loved companion @Krystyna23040 .

Blood sugars this morning were 4.8 and plan C put into action.

Mrs J woke me up at 8:50am, as Mrs J said only to see if I was still alive. Ah such concern.

Have a great day all, remember to…….drat I’ve forgotten what I was going to write, Mrs J interrupted me, me’s and myself again.

Stay safe all, stay dry

Have you booked your stated funded cruise to Rwanda yet?

FBG 4.8 overslept so that's probably why.
One week until we leave for UK. Have booked Covid jabs but unfortunately earliest date available is 19th. The day before we leave. Have been assured side effects at minimal by my brother, but he is in UK and may have been given a different vaccine.
@gennepher having seen Kiki sniff out a single spot of something edible spilled on the floor, I am sure it's the aromas that lead cats to find all the goodies in your house. However it must take considerable nerve and determination to venture so far into alien territory.

Good morning all. FBS 7.4. Three monthly blood test tomorrow so will be interesting to see if this new diabetic medication, in combination with the other three, has maintained it's success without negative effects on other areas.. Hugs to those who need them today and best wishes to all. :)

I hope the Covid jabs go well for you @SlimLizzy with no effects.

Or hunger. This new massive ginger cat is trying to claim a spot on the swing in the night these freezing nights (the video clips tell me this). It doesn't seem like he has a home, he wouldn't do that from choice. So, to venture all the way through the bungalow, he is hungry. And I do feel for him...

Disappear into a book like you say @Annb
That sheepskin coat you found last year...put that over you if you are sitting in your chair...

I never thought of that. I've been sitting with a travelling rug over me to keep me warm. I'm supposed to be going out this afternoon - about 1645 and I've been debating whether I should just phone and pull out or if I should just pull myself together and go. I've come down on the 2nd choice. I'm not really ill, just sore and stiff. It'll do me good to move and to see the young folk I am visiting (a young family with 3 children). I am never morose around other people.

The family were in Macao but just a couple of years ago came back to Britain and moved to Shetland but now have moved here. It had been intended that the elder brother of the young man would also go to Macao and be there at the same time but he was prevented by the Covid outbreak and has only recently gone to take up his teaching post there. To get there, he bought a motorbike and used it to travel all the way there. Adventurous! Apparently, he loves it there but it is the life for a young, single person not a family.

There, I feel better already, thinking about them.

Hi Lamont,
Sorry to hear about the grandkids I hope they are soon well again, that area always seemed to have a smell of hydrocarbons when we were coming through from North Wales across to the M6 North to Cumbria from Queenserry.

It was the same coming North over Bowes Moor, the air gets cleaner but the farmers are a source of slurry spreading pollution nowadays.
Its the shear quantity of humans in a given area caues the smell with their industries.
Where our eldest lives is ok but there are loads of not very good vehicle fumes to trigger asthma attacks for youngters.

I hope everyone has their best day.

We are into local town early the take the Octavia in for a cam belt change and an Mot.
Then come back in the fabia for breakfast.

Yesterday I went back into Carlisle to pick Marjorie up after Tai Chi after taking her in earlier.
The disabled parking is just a few a spaces and no good for someone who needs access to a building society and is not mobile.

Alan took me to the Cumberland infirmary monday, i have transfered my pacemaker checks from the Freeman to Carlisle.

I never know how I will feel if they tweek it and switch it off and speed it up etc.
So I need transport.

D.
6.5 this sunny, dry, draughty, cold day, being a Wednesday an dry, I have spent time tidying up the garden!
it needs it! Bloody foliage strewn in every crevice and corner.

@lindisfel The smell you get around the trip from Queensferry to the area North of Manc land around the Thelwell viaduct is because of the huge chemical industrial landscape especially around around Widnes, St Helens and the oil industry around the Mersey basin which the M6 crosses.
It was typically, a pleasant sight, when seeing the industrial landscape, when travelling home, the Christmas lights effect in darkness.

#8 is a lot better this morning, and more like his Tasmanian devil self. He has taken shine to one of Mrs L 's favourite Christmas sort toys, that was given to her from #2 grandchild. Whose birthday it is today and I found out on his way to abroad to a Christmas market trip. Lucky ......!

Unfortunately Mrs L couldn't connect today with anything significant this morning and was bothered about sorting chrimbo despite believing that it was still early December. I do believe that I'm actually handling Mrs L 's misrememberitis better and being more understanding and respectful.

Today, I have been very interested in the covid inquiry day of closing statements by the core participants.
Not being very generous with the clown show that happened.

Hankering for a bit of haddock, that is awaiting my attention

My best wishes to you all as always.

Your pet is a member of your closest family. And it's so hard to be without!
You must have looked after your dog to reach such an age.
