What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Fbg 6.1

I woke at 2.30 am!
Makes for an amazing Fbg for me!
Back in bed.
Might as well post and then have a nap...
4:10 am now...

Wildlife nighttime camera
Cat Jade catches her supper - watch the eyes on the ground
15sec
I did slow this video down to 2/3rds or else the action would have been too quick to see...

Creative...some warmth I hope for you...begun in Procreate and finished in Sketch Club app...

Eyes are closing...need to catch up on sleep...

Have your best day...

Lovely mountain water painting.

Good morning everyone on a wonderfully quiet start to pre bin day here in the dark and dangerous north. A bit of an up and down night and reflected in the 6.2 reading which was bouncing along the 6 line most of the night. Wonder if it’s the pain meds - I shall settle on that and stop thinking about it. Art bit, murmuration. Hope you have a good day. Koffy is now needed followed by a lot of standing up and wandering about to assuage my awkward back.

Love this and the murmuration!
Enjoy that coffee @dunelm

0310: 5.9. 2 cups of weak tea later: 5.7.

Nurse from the GP practice phoned yesterday. I appear to have an infection and she will have a prescription for an antibiotic to be sent to the local pharmacy. No idea how long it will take to get there to pick it up. Neil's also had a message from them to say he has to go in to see a GP - that's next Tuesday. Not sure why the sudden attention from them, but we'll see what hey have to say.

Today, I am going to see what happens if I take no insulin to cover meals - yesterday was a bit of a disaster with BG dropping too low much of the day, causing me to ditch the idea of very low carbs for the day (quite enjoyed all the carby things I had to eat to keep the levels up into the 4's).

Morning seal team 2

Lurking in the hated 8's undergrowth.
Picking off carbs as & when they appear.

Slightly pinned down at the moment, but my team is trying hard to outflank and break through the sneaky enemy.

Morale & team performance is good,

So personally despite going rogue (according to some) and fighting back against the Carb Alliance, I feel sharper, fitter mentally & physically , I think.

Gonna be a long campaign, but so far happy with the loss of a few pounds and an 8.1 this morning.

Worrying tweet thread, maybe of interest for those not aware this is happening.

"Is there a PA onboard ? ..... :wideyed: "

Neil managed to lock himself into the shower room yesterday and had to use a pair of scissors to prise the lock apart and get himself out
Gave a funny, poor ol' Neil.

A mental image of a carry on movie, soap suds strategically placed, obv.

Then imagined it more Mi tom Cruise like...

Fair play him, who needs help when you got ingenuity & guile .

Good morning all. I was woken in the early hours during the last 2 nights feeling hot and with my heart thumping in my chest. Took my pulse and it was 116 with irregular heart symbol. Suspecting a possible night time hypo I tested and it was 9.2 (after getting up to fetch my meter). So we both decided to do Covid tests and were positive! No other symptoms except over-tiredness.Yesterday we were told there were several cases in mum's nursing home for the last 2 days so we probably caught it there during our last visit on Saturday. Mum was still OK when I rang last evening but am concerned for her after our 2 distressing times before Christmas when the home had to send for emergency services as she was so poorly. So it's a stopping at home time for us but we are not missing much as it is in the minuses here with a skittering of snow and slippery underfoot. Amazingly our window cleaner has just been but his water was freezing on the glass as he attempted to clean at the back of the house so had to give up! Stay in and keep warm if you are able folks and if you have to go out please take care. Looking forward to Springtime! :)

Morning all from L.A. on No Day: no iced up cars, no snow, no school closures and no known fbg. Bitterly cold and more dull than of late here. @dunelm hug for the back pain and thanks for sharing the art. I hope you enjoyed the coffee. @gennepher thanks for alerting me to the eyes in the video - nature isn't as benign and cuddly as romantics would have one believe. Thanks for sharing the creative. Being odd I don't see that as warm but I do see it as calming - I do really like the red. @Annb great fbg, hug for the infection and Neil's mystery. As for the higher carb, some Keto champions take breaks citing potential liver harm - shock horror - others say it prevents exactly that :banghead: . I sleep better and am a nicer, kinder little boy with some more carby days.- say. 40 gms. @jjraak top work soldier. @lindisfel take it easy in them there shops way up there beyond the Ice Wall - them Ice Walkers are dangerous. Y'all stay warm now, ya hear?

My dad once replaced several doors on bathrooms, toilets and shower rooms for a doctor because they had locks. The doctor told dad he had needed to break into far too many such rooms when people had suffered heart attacks, strokes or falls. Dad obviously took the advice - and money. :D

Had an e-mail this morning from Royal Mail to say that they were delivering a package today. It's one I am expecting from Amazon. Then shortly after there was another one from Amazon to say that there was a delay and my package wouldn't be delivered. That was repeated a bit later. So I assume that the package has reached the Island, or the sorting office wouldn't have sent the p;ositive message but they must have told Amazon that they couldn't deliver it. The roads here are not too bad, but our side road may not be accessible because on both sides of us there are short, steep hills. These may make for difficult driving. Today is Alistair's day off so I probably shan't find out. Not the end of the world but it does indicate that conditions are worse than I thought. At the moment the fields opposite and out of the back windows are under a few inches of snow, but the road has been partially cleared by the traffic going over it, the sun is bright and the sky is clear but a slightly ominous colour. Temperature, I think, is just above freezing.

There was a time in the past when Alistair couldn't take his post van along some roads due to snow but what he did was park his van as near as possible and then deliver on foot as far as he could before moving his van to the next suitable spot and doing the same thing again. Probably not allowed these days - they'd rather delay the mail than have to pay overtime. Not the service it was when my dad was a postman (he always said it started to go downhill as soon as he left and became a proper civil servant). :)

My mother-in-law was fearful of break-ins once she was widowed and lived on her own. She lived in a ground floor flat in a 1930's building. She put huge screws into the sash windows so they could only be opened by unscrewing them, the outside door had a bolt and 2 locks on it and at night she would open a big, solid cupboard door, which covered the outer door and place a set of ladders against it so that she would hear the clatter if anyone pushed the door open. Beside her bed she kept a heavy, ebony walking stick with a carved head for a handle. It would have been lethal if she had ever hit anyone with it. Her children always told her that she shouldn't do it because, had she needed help, nobody could have got in to reach her. But she decided she'd rather die alone than be burgled. Free choice, I suppose. It was never tested of course.
