What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

6.9, 33 degrees a short time ago. Beautiful day.
A relax in the sun, after morning chores.
The whole world can just go away, please, this evening.

Enjoy this weather if you can, or stay cool!
My best wishes to you lot as always.

Fbg 6.9

Day has gone too hot to breathe...
Me flaked out besides my master humidifier.
Cats, including Midnight gone to cooler ground, nowhere to be seen...
I am lying between a sea of fans and humidifiers.
Doing my breathing exercises....

Looks beautiful outside, but not for me to be in it...too much pollen there as well.

There are clouds of cabbage white butterflies, their little bugs having feasted on the remains of my vegetable garden.

Eyes are itchy in this...

Eyes mask back on in a mo...no complaints because my brain is giving me fantastic intense vivid (why this vivid?) pictures to paint...problem is, I need to live a thousand years to paint them all. I had better become an immortal...

Creative...finger painting with black ink, and using Japanese Kuratake pens. The photo shows the white page lilac, but it is pure white. My bedding is lilac, and so it is a reflection of that. This painting needs a bit more work, but that is not happening today. I will start a new one tomorrow...

Got my tie paisley neckerchief thingy from Amazon with water absorbent beans in the neck part. Soak it and it keeps wet and cool for ages. It helps me breathe better too. And got the scarf thingy that you soak and wring and put it round your neck and that keeps cool for awhile as well. I put that on top of the wet necktie thingy...it helps create a micro climate in my face area...

Wildlife video
A very busy, thirsty night in the nighttime video
I had to speed it up by 2 to get most of the action in...
Badgers & Cats - a long night

Make the most of the rest of today.

I am just going to make a jug of water with ice cubes...

Smashing start on your creative. May tonight and the tomorrow be cooler for you.

Dinner smells good @SlimLizzy
Bacon, cheese and ( of course, they are in everything atm) courgette quiche. Delicious. The €1 spent on a flan tin was possibly my best buy this year. MrSlim uses it often.

6.1 this morning. First day of my 3 week summer break. We went for a lovely leisurely early morning walk around the park with Poppy before it got too hot. Met up and with lots of our dog walking friends which was really nice.

Am being really lazy now, drinking coffee and reading and relaxing
Perfect start to a holiday @Krystyna23040

Forecast temp today 34°C , but actually reached 37°C. I was out in the garden early trying to get a few things done before it got too hot. But the day got away from me and it was past 1pm before I was finished outside.
Saturday.
Having been assured that house sales are very slow during August, I had not been too concerned about the perfectly normal mess created by having four children in the house. When they left for the camping trip Mum closed all the bedroom doors and I left them that way. The house has not been in such a mess for months. While they are away, take the opportunity to wash sheets and we decide to make chutney. Need to use up some of the courgettes. Collection of ingredients fails, some are missing so I make a list and go shopping.
Trip to the pharmacie, where i practice my french and the assistant insists on explaing in fractured english takes a while Choosing birthday party stuff even longer.
No cardamom pods available in nearby small supermarket so try the larger one. There I find ground cardamom. It will have to do. Short shopping trip takes over two hours.
Get back to find we have been invaded.
The estate agent has brought potential buyers to look around. MrSlim tells me he saw the agent walk past the window....
Knowing there was a mess he asked them to look outside first and dashed about tidying. Children's rooms argh!! We may never find all the shoved out of sight items. He can be very creative under pressure. Apparently the agent had emailed, but MrSlim doesn't carry his phone and checks it only a couple of times a day, I will have to ask the agent to text me, much better chance of message being recieved.
The potential fell flat. They want a house further back from the road.
Viewing Paranoia revved up again and now I am once again constantly tidying, either house or garden. Which is why I was outside before 8am this morning.
Family return Tuesday.
Have a few jobs in the garden to do before then. We did make the chutney today. 3kg of courgettes used. For a short time there were none in the fridge, but then brought in today's harvest.
Potatoes, Haricot vert, Haricot Buerre, Haricot Espagne ( that's runner beans to you)
Few Mangetout, some peas, tomatoes, diverse colours, the first pepper, still green and of course four courgettes. That will keep me busy tomorrow. Grass and hedge need cutting and edges strimming but I can't use the large strimmer and my smaller one died last week. Mrslims injury is having a noticeable effect on the garden maintainence.

Morning all from what will be a Merrymen * day here in L.A. which for some here like @gennepher and those involved in heavy manual work will be "challenging." At one stage of my life the combination of such hot weather and hard physical work was my absolute wheelhouse but we all corrupt like old garments - just at different rates. @SlimLizzy winner for the bounty from your hard work and skill, the hug was for the stress caused by needing to "put on a show" so to speak when selling a property in which one also has to live. I also sympathise with the impact of Mr Slim not being fully operational. Even at my reduced level these days one can see the impact my reduced input this summer has wrought. I have bitten the bullet and pay people to do some basic gardening. Pride has a price for which spreadsheets don't seem to have a function. Three grandchildren here today :woot: so 5.30 start to organise things before JKP goes to click and collect early doors. Choice of clothing today is vital so here's some fashion ideas. God be with y'all but stay safe, hydrated and let's be careful out there.

It’s full on in that heat and so annoying when you can’t get simple ingredients like cardamom pods :arghh:. Not very pleasant having to keep the house all tip top but a massive bonus though with all those wonderful produce that you are growing I expect that they taste marvelous.

Half an hour ago it was bright and the sun was shining in through my window but now it s dark enough to need the light on and the windows are getting another wash from the heavy rain. Thunder just rolling in - some distance away, I think.

BG at 04.30 today was 7.1. An hour and a cup of tea later it was 8.1 but dropped back to 7.5. Just on my 2nd cup of tea, so I expect it will go up again.

6.1 this morning. Early dog walk and now we are off to our nearby market town to take Poppy to the dog groomer.
I've got to bank some cash at the post office. So good I can do that there as my nearest bank branch is now in Norwich.
Then Super Drug to pick up a couple of things and then coffee - perhaps at Costa coffee. My first coffee of t he day.

Good morning everyone on a wonderfully cool start to what may be a bit scorchio later on. A bit of rain early this morning - that’s one job out of the way. Chat with mum earlier. Doctor calling round to see my dad at noon. “Let us greedily enjoy our friends because we do not know how long this privilege will be ours.”(Seneca). Anyhow. Art bit. Is it autumn already or just the result of very hot and dry days? A lazy morning I think as I was up and down frequently during the night wondering what the nth term of a nightly bathroom visit sequence was? May your day contain some amazement and joy. I shall make more koffy

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen

Blood sugars just now were 5.3

I was out earlier doing a walk, 3000 + paces before the heat kicks in. Now I’m slurping my first mug of tea of the day. Bowel cleansing Koffy will be later! Make of that what you will.

We British are a strange nation, pure mongrels, if its cold we moan, if it’s to or too or two hot we moan, yep people risk their lives to join us getting ultimately assimilated into our strange culture. Later they leave our shores to populate the rest of the world. As I said strange.

Mrs J is leaving me me’s and myself to my own devices, no tasks, as of now no orders. I am truly flummoxed, please help by posting ideas for me. Note it’s to too or two hot to bark at the postman.

Stay safe, stay hydrated, stay away from obese, long haired, old motorcyclists that are several bricks short of hod full.

Hug for the disturbed sleep and possibly/probably? for #anklegate later. Thank you for sharing today's splendid example of your artistic gifts. I like the autumnal colours in that piece and autumnal colours generally. I don't like the cooler weather, never really did, all those ridiculous layers of clothing, shorter days, darker evening and nights ; an all too visible reminder of our mortality. Previously I consoled myself with food which is far too high carb for Elsie Keto. There's a reason adaptation and abomination are spelled differently.

Do you have much to grouse about?
If you were a Grouse you would, it's the glorious 12th.
D.
Good to hear from you Derek. I hope you and Marjorie are keeping as well as possible. That reminded me of images from times past - attached. Taken from this piece - gentler times (Cuban crisis notwithstanding) one feels. Not better or fairer and materially so much worse for many despite you've never had it so good - no quinoa , kefir or gaucamole, smart or dumbphones, I didn't even have Sky in my bedroom :playful: - but less "edge." Most here will be able to wander down memory lane via that image and the article. He nailed the, I imagine to him vulgar/common, Grocer's daughter (good man) and one imagines he would have excoriated Johnson.
This year, 2024, will see many important elections taking place around the world and, while political rule by patricians motivated by noblesse oblige has had its day, modern politicians could learn a lot from this man born in 1894, notably how to conduct themselves with dignity and authority. Some hope.
