I enjoy words like that - maybe I read a few too many Enid Blyton books when I was young? Haven’t managed a ‘spiffing’ yet but am now setting myself the task of using it this weekend.
@DJC3 I didn't have you down as the type to pull the wings from butterflies. Fun? I do LC, am married and will soon have 4 granddaughters. Have you no pity woman?

Have fun, however you prefer to call it.
Haha I also read too many Enid Blyton books...it started my love affair with Cornwall long before I would ever go there but it more than lived up with its secret caves and picnics on deserted beaches but I have never liked ginger beer! Feeling nostalgic!

okra. Cigarette smoke, old, new, and permeating a room, wafting from a balcony, etc etc. That I have so many chronic diseases. That I take so very many meds. Being cold. Anything too loud, but specifically non-classical music and the television.
@HarrisonK thanks for the shifty tip! :shifty:
@dunelm hoping you got some better sleep.
@gennepher re Voices of Angels (if you can't see the emojis, they are hearts) you are having EXACTLY the emotional response many born-hearing folk get (including me. I often listen to this as I'm preparing for bed. Hildegard was what they call an ecstatic mystic of the Church, and her music reflects that) . I am so excited and joyful for you! If you have that premium service of Youtube to download, that would cut out the ads for sure.
You're exactly right about what I was asking dunelm for, and yes for the reason you state but also for the simplicity of processing. I'm looking at getting you into music in a way that your brain will gladly handle-- baby steps! You'll know when you're ready for a bit more challenge. Meanwhile, peace for your heart is all I could ask for.
This experience with the therapist Paul and its lasting benefits of a more melodious speech-- that is amazing. I cannot quite picture how I myself could be calm while the blood was rushing straight to the migraine center of my head lol. Were the men on either side holding you all the time so you could relax into this (face it) circus acrobat/tumbling pose?
In US we have a specialist called Speech Language Pathologist. Many professional singers employ them for learning more about the correct physical feedback their singing should be giving them. Training like this will take the dependence away from what you are hearing and place it on what you feel in your head, throat, chest, spine.
I am quite full of it today, eh. You are my first student in a couple of years, and you give me joy!
Glad you like my little Jenny. She was a psychotic, neurotic, half-Siameser who could and did cuss you out in 4 different languages. She was the most conversational of all of our cats, with a huge vocabulary mostly based on how mama cats talk to their kittens.
I saw only a normal view of your long reply on my phone app. I'm wondering if your lower FBG is from having the stressful anticipation of the upgrade behind you. And.....Hildegard! Seriously. Reducing stress can only be good for us.

FBG 5.2 wooohooooo! Don't know where it came from but I'll take it! Personal best ever FBG.
@ianpspurs you have dedication and perseverance. I am trying to follow in your footsteps carefully, although without the fancy scale...
@jjraak yes you got it!
@PenguinMum problem with this kitchen floor is that I can't tell what's tile, what's food spill, what's cat messes from one end or the other.... In another house I was able to deploy all my oriental rugs, predominately red. I never minded coming home to a dead rodent on one of those, generously gifted by the orange terror hunter. Nothing showed on those rugs! Glad you slept well!!!!
@Goacher55 do you know, I know exactly what you mean about the aesthetics of the numbers!! Also, one pasta dish would surely send me into orbit too. I'm sorry...

Hi.
No, the men were not holding me...
Paul had them there as a safety measure for him and me, and also because I was above the limit of the weight of a person he should have done. But we had talked and were in tune with each other.
I did it completely unaided. He was lying on the ground with his legs and feet in the air..I placed my trust totally in him. I had to lean back on his feet. Bring my legs and feet up and all in one motion twist the figure of 8 bands between my hands and feet, and while this was happening he sort of walked my back a tiny bit so I could have my shoulders on his feet. I was totally relaxed
The blood did not rush to my head. It was calming.
Just imagine a Buddha upside down with his shoulders resting on Paul’s feet!

Only his feet were touching me (my shoulders), it was like every joint in my body was freed. Total suspension.

I bought and downloaded Voices of Angels in the end on to my iPhone and am streaming it through to my speech processor.

Last few hours I have been messing with this recalcitrant app that is supposed to manage my speech processor. Very frustrating. I was frustrated and bumping into things by this time.

But I think I have finally worked it out...it is the iPhone which keeps resetting the volume control for it to be 'safe' for hearing people. But I found out this is what knocks the app off balance and it cannot connect to the speech processor. App and speech processor will only connect if the volume control of phone is left constantly on the top possible volume.

That sounds interesting...a Speech Language Pathologist.

That's nice :) Your first student in a couple of years!!! I am glad I give you joy x

You have introduced me to something that is soothing and calming and tension reducing, but without the complications that you need to understand something if you get me.

So I am now in potting shed with cat (it is my retreat and has a bed in it....), with Voices of Angels streaming to my processor....

5.6 this morning. I am late posting due to very busy morning. I had to deliver a cake to the church coffee morning (I wasn't tempted to try it even though it was biscoff filling) Then to work to let in the plumber who was supposed to fix the boiler (water in the circuit board) He thinks it will be Okay when it has dried out. It is all in bits drying. Then I had to go to see the financial advisor.
I am now sitting with a cup of coffee before I have to walk the dogs and go to my brother's wedding anniversary meal.
I trust other people's day has been a bit less busy. I am looking forward to a quiet weekend.

Those picnics sounded idyllic didn’t they? Must admit I never quite got the ginger beer thing either, but it all sounded so wonderful and tasty when she described them.
Granddaughters are now discovering the Magic Faraway Tree - still has the power to enthrall.

But that all sounds like brilliant fun! I’d say you are very blessed.
What a horribly sadistic little gal ya must have been. Do you know what blessed actually means - polar opposite of the dire situation I described. Unbelievable.

Quick comment for @gennepher
Next time you see Cochlear "experts", please tell them that your music teacher says, you are hearing exactly what she'd hoped for when you listen to music. Let them scratch their heads over that-- they told you that you couldn't do music listening, but here you are doing it well already!

Morning All. 6.3 today after quite an icky tum last evening. I have decided CWC isnt for me after all so back to lots of TWhaM (who will get there first lol). I have a threshold with dairy and fats and need to respect it. So whatever FBG I will stick to 2 small meals and 1 normal size supper.

hi @PenguinMum

late on this, i'd meant to pick up on it earlier.

i'm the same.

gave it a go..and definitely seemed to fill me up a little more then expected,
just left me feeling a little :***:.....really wanted to like it, honest.

BUT it's not for me either, don't really GET the coffee thing, if i'm honest.
it's an ok drink occasionally, if teas not available.

Guess i just missing the coffee Gene in my dna.

nb; as for dairy threshold, out steph is a little intolerant of milk, so i've been getting the sainsburys lactose free.

of course if no milk available for me, i splosh that in..truth be told i can't taste the difference in tea.
did try the nut milks, but there really just flavoured water, i'd rather have the powdered stuff, then them.

Hello all. Very busy week and very little sleep. So haven't managed to post for the last four days.

Fasting blood sugars for these four days:

Tuesday 4.9
Wednesday 4.6
Thursday 4,9
Today 4.7

Have a great start into the weekend all.

@gennepher I wish you had a video/pic to post as I cannot at all picture what you are describing but it sounds really fascinating. All I can think of is the Blarney Stone.

@PenguinMum & @zauberflote I have dark-chocolate-colored carpeting in my apartment. It is wonderful at camouflaging shed cat hairs; it is also all too good at camouflaging hairballs delivered during the night! My kitchen and bathroom floors are much lighter in color and show everything. :(

I want to thank all you pasta-missers -- I thought of y'all when I was at the grocery store a little while ago, buying cod for lunch. They had some delumptious-looking macaroni & cheese and I was tempted to get some, except I kept thinking of y'all. So I didn't yield! :) (I did get a couple of chips though, but not nearly as big a serving as I would have been given of the mac&cheese.)

I am going to listen to plainsong on YouTube this afternoon ... :)

I’ve just caught up on this ‘spiffing’ @PenguinMum chat. Amidst the joys of Pasta stuff I started thinking about when I was first diagnosed as being pre diabetic. It was roughly 2 years after I’d had 2 very nasty strokes. I was in the first year of my PHD so my life was all of a quandary. I remember writing down the advice. Breakfast should be something like peanut butter on seeded or brown toast. Lunch should be a simple salad, a Light pasta dish or a small sandwich, Definitely don’t have tinned tomato soup, white bread, chips.. baked potato was ok! I was advised to have carbs with lunch. Only eat dark chocolate if any and oat biscuits.

Interesting reflection !

For @SaskiaKC
And for @zauberflote

I have no photos of me doing that, but found this.

I googled to see if the guy Paul was still around. I found info on him. He is also a musician and other stuff.

No one took him up on his offer of doing this that day. I had not seen anyone else done, so I had nothing to be scared of. But looking at the video...

This is a very short You Tube video on how he did it, and he had me suspended for quite some time with those bands round my feet and hands....
He did the cymbals and musical stuff while I was suspended like that.

I hope that link works...

Pasta...not so much .

But oh the love affair with FRESHLY BAKED BREAD .( Drool, drool, drool)..omg.

One, let's just call her tiger.

Left me heart broken when we broke up, I know I didn't take it well, :bigtears:

Tiger ..well, she seems to be coping well without me, seen her about with others, once or twice.

Find my self thinking about what might have been, all those little buns in the oven we would have... Now never to be...:sorry:

Still find myself going through the "good times" we had from that old memory bank

Even hooked up, once or twice on some pretext, to collect a "forgotten ' dvd or book.

All very civilised, and occasionally we'd,... you know...

but it's not like it was,
At least not for me.
I still have feelings, but it hurts too much to go back.

Got to go..seem to have some dust in my eye..sniff

Pure brilliance @jjraak
