good evening all :)

4.1 today

a quietish day today with a trip over to Mum's to fill in the medical form ready for her to go see the chiropodist on Monday.

We also managed to chop up some bush trimmings and have a little bonfire to get rid of them and then sat in her garden drinking tea ;) very pleasant and fortunately it was just about 18 degrees so not too hot :)

Hope your day is treating you well :)

@dunelm - lovely photos, very green and cool :) and that's a handsome little art work today, very graphically strong :)

@ianpspurs - looks like you're going to have a busy time :)

@SlimLizzy - we still have mask mandates here thankfully, some of the visitors are not behaving though :sorry:

@gennepher - hopefully you will get some comfort soon :) but Popeye managed to get some outdoor time again today adding to the tale of his adventures ;)

art bit - quick painting of the sun on the sea :)

Great that you are making good use of the tree. Although sad that the tree was cut down, at least your house is safe in the future.

We had a tree in our back garden that in the storm of 1987 started to lean over. We saved it and were so happy, but were not so happy some years later when it grew bigger and it's roots caused our house to subside. The repair bill was quite large and the tree had to be cut down. Oh how we wished we had cut it down in 1987.
We already have subsidence. The house is built on clay and has no foundations. Still it has stood for well over six hundred years, so we accept the sloping floors and the fact that no wall anywhere is straight.

I wonder if our modern houses will still be standing in 600 years. Our house is on clay also. Rock hard in the summer and muddy in the winter.

I needed all those fans and most of that ice last night for every fan, and my drinking water.

The temperature at the beginning of the evening was 31.5 C outside, and inside my bungalow early evening was 32.5 C. It was absolutely intolerable. Even Popeye was going from fan to fan to find the best one...and I was busy all night keeping it all going. Most of the residents in our road did not return last night. It was no better outside.

Popeye woke me at 3 am. I had just nodded off. His favourite fan had stopped working. So I had to reset it, put more ice in the jar in front of it, feed him some cat food I had slid between the ice packs. I haven't opened the fridge or freezer in 3 days.

I am awake now, so I opened the other doors and windows in the bungalow because the air is now cooler outside than inside.

I have no more energy to go out and look for more ice for tonight. But the weather app promised 29C plus this afternoon...

However, I have finally managed to drag out a nearly 20 year old atomiser and ioniser out of the Tardis (garage). It is massive. I can barely lift the water tank and attach the two halves. I thought I had thrown it away because I had bought it for breathing problems, and I had ended up with damp mouldy walls because of the continuous billowing clouds of mist, so I had stopped using it.

Before use I had to clean it with white vinegar, let it completely dry, and now set it up. The billowing clouds of mist are that intense, I cannot see the walls or ceiling. Now, I fully remember why I stopped using it...

I had also worried, because in 2002 I was in Barrow in Furness, the day of the Legionnaires outbreak. I had been waiting, over half an hour, in the alleyway where the badly maintained faulty air conditioning unit was. And I do remember the the white mists/steam coming out of it. But I was waiting for my friend, and we didn't have mobile phones particularly in those days. I tested positive for Legionaires and I had antibiotics for it, but I wasn't hospitalised. It was a heck of a long time waiting for the testing sample at the hospital to grow. I remember the young technician who took the sample from me was so excited because she'd never had a patient with potential Legionnaires before!

So, before I am using my atomiser and ioniser unit, it has to be scrubbed clean with white vinegar and fully dried. That took me a couple of days.

But if needed, I will run that tonight.

Trying a few different things with the collage app and Snapseed, experimenting.

Now I need a cuppa.
It's 11:28 am and I can feel the heat already.
25.3C

Take care

The questing beast turns out to be a nice cool bungalow so I hope that Sir Popeye and his squire of many talents, My Lady Gennepher can eventually run it down. Excellent collage of Popeye and the Buddah.

Good morning everyone from a so far undecided start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north
The wonder wheel scrubbing rusty rails in anticipation of an afternoon birthday BBQ came in at 5.7 this am - let them not eat cake.

We have a rolled iron Indian fire bowl - a kadai - it’s a pretty good bbq but the grill itself is plain metal and an excellent collector of rust - never mind - a bit of elbow grease and a rub with a bit of cooking oil - job done - come on baby light my fire. So, a fine birthday bbq for a 9 year old which included giant Jenga stacks and monster dominos in the garden. when asked what his favourite present was, he said the bubble wrap - he does love bubble wrap.
Had the privilege of being bitten on the leg - possibly a mosquito - very popular now that we are turning into rural Uganda - better than being bitten by a hippo.

Art bit - no time yesterday (he lied) - so one from a few days ago. Have a blast of a day, laze around, watch athletic types on the box charging about and trying for a medal. Are you excused ‘ping-gate’? Register as a shelf stacker in Poundland, you will be fine. Time for koffy.

Last night I had this ancient 20 year old atomiser and ioniser up and running.
And I discovered yet another reason why I gave up on it 20 years. It has 3 steam settings...
1) constant billows of steam clouds worthy of a steam train...
2) billows of steam clouds for one minute every 3 minutes...
3) billows of steam clouds for one minute every 7 minutes...

Setting 3 didn't cut it, so put it on setting 2. This was much better. Then I put it on setting 1 with constant billows of steam clouds. This was heaven. I could breathe easily, and Popeye came in from the front room where he has 2 oscillating fans, and the last of the ice cubes...

This is heaven says Popeye and sits among the billowing mists, looking absolutely full of bliss.

The temperature in my bedroom didn't drop down from 26.9, but these fine droplets of mist landing on my face and arms etc was bliss. I fell asleep, only to be woken up an hour later by a cat who was under my chin, wrapped around my neck. Whoever said that cats lie under your chin for warmth was definitely lying. Maybe he can feel my heartbeat and that is why? My heartbeat does slow down his heartbeat which is quite fast now he is older.

Anyway, my dry laundry was at the bottom of my bed. I was too tired to put it away last night. This morning one sock had landed on my wooden floors. I went to pick it up...it was absolutely soaked, and so was the wooden floors with a sheen of water all over them. Oops. I had my crocs on so fortunately my foot grip was good, otherwise it would have been a skating rink.

Everything is damp or wet in the bedroom. So, I had a thought and looked online to see if you could still buy it. You could! So I looked at reviews. Nearly everyone grumbled about it and said it wasn't fit for purpose, because of the all the same reasons I had abandoned it and put it in the garage, and forgot about it.

I turned it off, thinking I wouldn't need it on during the day today just before I started writing this post. But within half an hour the stuffy heat was building up again, and I was having difficulty breathing again. So I have turned it back on. Bliss...

I now love this ancient nearly 20 year old atomiser and ioniser even if no one else in the world does. It has saved my bacon on a hot stuffy night, and day. Because the heat is still trapped in my attic, cannot escape, nor dissipate, and will keep reheating my bungalow for the next few days, even if the temperature did drop. I need a prolonged thunderstorm of rain, and that will cool my attic space. But no rain says the met office for another week...

Photo collage for today...
Popeye having his early morning walk.
He is looking for shady spots and found one, but the naughty sun moved, and his spot was not shady any more. So, I put up the parasol and you can see him in top two photos finding the best spot under the parasol shade.
Most of my garden as you can see from the big photo at the back of everything is overgrown. But it is deliberately overgrown, so nearly all the paths have an archway of greenery over them. This means I can move my chair to different spots, and I am always in shade...

Keep cool...

Take care...

With the heat of the sun, and the tree looking desolate and losing his leaves, and the birds...it is a feeling of how stuff is at the moment...

Happy Saturday Diabetes Massive. Today calls for a top in Forest Heath now it isn't Forest Heat. An unwelcome high of 5.2 on Swipey but I hope the mantra of it is a marathon not a sprint holds true in the age of very, very alternative truths. Hug for the bite @dunelm but winner for the birthday BBQ and art. A lady of indomitable spirit is our @gennepher with quite the eye for a photo. I'm glad yesterday was good for you @Krystyna23040. Today and tomorrow are full on family days here. All 3 sons and grandchildren in one place for the first time ever except for the boy who is strongly hinting it is time to join the fun. Amazing group hug from four granddaughters while I held number 5 - dancing vegetables:) It doesn't pay to dwell on the past but I confess to feeling sorrow at how much better this would have been in the last place. Enjoy the day. Laters Posse.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and all who are benefitting from the lower temperatures this morning.

11.2 on that meter of deception, but me and me's know why, so thoughts of giving it a friendly tap with my favourite hammer are suspended for today.

Yesterday's routine liver clinic a tale to tell, me and me's turn up fully masked and sanitised up to the eye balls expecting to see one of the specialist liver consultants, o how naive of me.
I get grabbed by one of the clinic male nurses and asked to walk this way, no chance of me walking like that....we end up in a strange room with a very professional looking nurse saying I'm going to do a scan on your liver, strange I thought I'd only had a scan a few months ago.
A new type of scanner and it saves having to to a liver biopsy, I've had a few of those in the 28 - 29 years since I had my transplant. 6 hours flat on your back and a weak bladder is not fun...that's a tale or 3 for another day. Scan done and I now have to wait for a phone call or letter, what like the letter letting me know I was going to have a scan.....yeah right, fat chance. Experience is telling I will have to have another biopsy, I am due one.

Well fellow posters, painters and gamers that was the tale of yesterday's routine liver appointment......

Remember the stay, stay away from people. Have a great day.

Outstanding, good and bad in there young man. The outstanding is the almost three decades since transplant. The good is how it all went smoothly. The bad is the nagging doubt that there will still be a biopsy. Give my regards to the saintly Mrs A J.

A game of two halves, with a third half thrown in for good measure. Not sure who won that one.
