    A bit disheartened....

Yes, seems that way doesn’t it? I suppose time and testing will show which foods affect me more. And I will take on board the hand washing thing pre-testing. Thank you.

    A bit disheartened....

Thanks for replying Rachox. Definitely no carbs today, only proteins and green veg. Reading taken 2 hours after evening meal of Greek salad with feta cheese, and it was 12! But yes, am a bit stressed today. Due to retire in a couple of weeks and feeling quite emotional about it to be honest.

    A bit disheartened....

Well, after diagnosis in Feb/Mar (T2) and doing quite well for a while, my BG has shot up today despite no carbs! What’s all that about then?

    Sustainable lifestyle change

Yes, me too.. I was diagnosed in February and on diet only ( Low carb NOT no carb) have brought my HbA1c down from 48 to 43 and lost 10 lbs in the process. I can eat a few potatoes but pizza sends my BG rocketing although I have it occasionally. I wish you well on your journey..... [emoji16]

    Taking BG after meals

Thanks yes. I’m amazed at the carb content of alot of foodstuffs tbh. Never really thought about it before. I’ve sent off for The Low Carb Diabetes Cookbook by David Cavan and Emma Porter. I’m due to retire in a few weeks so will have more time to cook from scratch. [emoji846]

    Taking BG after meals

Hi - the guidelines seem to say check BG levels 2 hours after eating? But mine are still high (11) at that stage. They do come down after about 3.5 hours though. Is this usual? Too long? I’m fairly recently diagnosed (March) so not in a particular routine yet. And so far no meds, only diet...

Progress with low carb diet, no meds

I had a follow-up HbA1c last week after initial type 2 diagnosis in Feb. Down from 48 to 43 on diet alone. I have though weaned myself off beta blockers prescribed for migraine. Not all good news as I feel fuzzy headed a lot of the time and have woken up in the middle of the night with...

    Beta blockers?

Just wanted to post an update to say I have been low-carbing now for a few weeks while at the same time weaning myself off the beta blockers. I haven’t yet had a killer migraine, just a few ‘fuzzy heads’. I had an HbA1c test on Friday so hoping that my new diet will have had a positive effect...

    Beta blockers?

Thank you. I’m initially going with a low carb and exercise plan to see if this has any effect. And, like you say I’m hoping my migraines will diminish too!

    Beta blockers?

I’m a recently diagnosed type 2 . I have a history of migraine and have taken beta blockers (propanolol) for a couple of years. Does anyone know if beta blockers are a problem for diabetics? My GP didn’t seem too concerned......
