    Type 2 Why the discrepancy?

i shall speak to Dr on the phone next week in lieu of face to face, so can I ask this group to answer a question? I take my own HBP readings at home. This morning, the first one was 185\65, the second 183/65 and the third was 151/89. I usually take the best of three. When the top one has...

    Too high reading

Thanks for the speedy replies. It had gone down to 11.3 about an hour ago, so greatly relieved. I've taken a couple of Ibuprofen to combat the dizziness I am experiencing. Hard lesson learnt today - no more fancy snacks at local cafe for me.

    Too high reading

Through my own careless fault, my reading at 1pm was 24. I took 12 units of insulin and its now, 2 hours later, showing 22.3 - hardly down at all. I feel spacey and dizzy, feeling odd. How can I bring it down, I feel its too soon for more insulin. Ideas please!!

The terms bolus and basal are foreign to me, I have never had them mentioned at any of my hospital appts. Thanks everyone

    Nausea in the afternoon

I am T2, on Metformin and insulin. I have some bad days where I struggle to eat, due to nausea. Other days, I am OK. I am trying to figure what triggers the nausea, which starts up around 3pm-ish onwards. For breakfast I always have tea and toast. A cup of tea and plain biscuit at 11.15am...

    Dislike of food

I have gone off food in the past couple of years. Sometimes if I look at a recipe in a magazine, I can feel my stomach rising. I really only eat to stop my readings going too low, so its a continual fight to eat something. It has to be bland, maybe a baked potato. Any tips? PS I am 77.

    Dislike of food

I am 77, been T2 on insulin for 15 years. I've recently ( couple of years) noticed I have gone off food. I used to love Italian, but no more. I manage a bit chicken but there is no pleasure in eating anymore. I do suffer from nausea in the evenings ( occasionally) and struggle to eat. This...

    Too high readings

I take novorapid during the day and 16 units of Lantus at bedtime. What makes my readings jump up to 20 about mid morning? I usually take around 8 units novorapid before breakfast ( tea and toast) and can't fathom out how it then jumps so high sortly afterwards? Do I need more Lantus?

    Hypo after effects

I occasionally get hypos, in the wee small hours, and am interested in what other people go through the following day. I was up at 4am with a hypo of 3.4, had a weetabix, 2 oatcakes and a cup of tea. I fell back to sleep immediately. Its now 10am, had tea and toast, reading on meter is 20.2 so...

    Nausea

I'm a T2 on metformin and two types of insulin. I take other tablets too for HBP, cholesterol and angina. This has been the case for more than 10 years now. Since about 3 years ago, every day, I wake up feeling mildly nauseous which builds up as the day goes on. I take a spoon of Gaviscon...

    Too much insulin

Thanks for replies, even Urbanracer, who took my serious query a bit too lightly. I shall keep testing, just in case.

    Too much insulin

Earlier this afternoon, I decided to have 4 measures of insulin, as I was going to have a plate of soup and small piece of bread. By mistake, I injected 12 in error. I quickly had the soup, bread, tea and chocolate biscuit and I feel OK, although a bit angry at myself. Did I do the right thing?

How do I get what Theresa's got?

I am T2 on Novorapid and Lantus insulin and tablets. I have had 2 hypos in the past 12 hours, I really seem to be getting worse at working out how much insulin I need to inject. Is there any chance I could have the small container that Theresa has on her arm, which feeds her insulin as and...
