Hi,
I've been diabetic for around 4 years now and the majority of my friends and family know I have it, but I am not too sure they fully understand it... and most importantly how to know when I am having a hypo and how to treat it.
I have had a few hypos over the years around friends...
Hi guys, I’ve just joined the forum but have always followed the Facebook page.
So for the last 24-36 hours I have had continuous Hypos with my bloods going as low as 1.9. I went to the hospital yesterday after advice from my GP and they done their usual and sent me home. These are the worst...
Hello everyone. I'm having a bit of a hard time with a colleague at work at the moment and would really appreciate advice/experiences etc from you!
So I work in a busy clinic environment. It was a particularly busy day at work and over lunch time a this colleague I said I will go and do what...
Got myself prescribed one of these after a couple of really bad hypos where I couldn't drink or eat any fast acting sugar due to feeling sick.
(I had to force myself to drink Coca Cola despite feeling like I was going to throw up :dead: )
I'm just wandering - as I've not managed to find...
My early warning sign for a hypo is a visual disturbance. I get a small area of "shimmering" in the centre of my vision.
Anyone else see this?
It's a little confusing as this is also how migraines begin for me. However if it is a migraine the disturbance then spreads outward to the periphery...
Hi everyone,
I just need to get this off my chest. A few days ago, I injected Lantus (12 units) and must've hit a vein or something, because after 20 minutes I started feeling very dizzy, measured my blood sugar and was at 1.2 mmol/l, which is the lowest reading I've ever seen. I live alone for...
Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with my problem.
I'm a 42 yo female, non-diabetic on low carb / keto (ish) diet and experiencing cognitive problems, night sweats, weight gain, headaches, palpitations, lethargy.
This is my first week of using a FreeStyle Libre (using out of...
So, tonight I had probably the most intense panic attack I've ever had. I had a hypo (Libre had a 4.6 with a vertical down arrow) so I treat it and carry on, next thing I know I'm completely out of my mind hyperventilating, sweating hot and cold, heart pounding like its going to bust out my...
Dear all,
I am dealing with a type 1 diabetes since I am 15 and I have been under bolus/basal treatment for 3 years now.
Fonctionnal insulino therapy was really giving me a hard time (highs or lows after meals) until I stumbled upon BolusControl.
This simple to use Android app let you know...
Hi guys,
Odd question, on Saturday morning I woke up with terrible cramp in my right calf, after this had passed it became apparent to me I was in a hypo, I tested my bloods and they were 3.
My right calf was then painful and stiff for the next 2 days.
I just wondered if this has happened...
Ok, so I've just come back from my gp appointment where i said that i had a hypo while driving without being aware i was hypo.
The doc said not to drive until fitness to drive has been assessed by the diabetes team and has referred me for an urgent consultation.
Now I've got home and...
Hi!
I'm new to posting here, been type 1 on insulin for over 20 years. I'm looking for advice.
I started following a low carb diet about 1 month ago which is fantastic during the day - very few hypos. However despite repeatedly reducing my dose of background insulin and now taking NO lantus at...
Hi.
I'm just wondering about your weirdest/worst hypo experiences. A few weeks ago I had one where it felt more like some kind of scary LSD acid trip or something. It's kind of hard to explain without it sounding a bit nuts.
I've had many hypos before (the trippier ones have always been whilst...
My daughter had her first hypo whilst sat in class, school followed all the right procedure and she was fine but was feeling sick the rest of the evening and didn't want to eat, she had another hypo during the night but as we were monitoring every two hours its was fine. this morning though she...
Hello,
Is there any way that the FreeStyle Libre can be used as a CGM alarm to avoid nightime Hypos or highs.
The Libre is a great advance but it doesn't solve the problem of hypos when someone with Type 1 is asleep.
Has anyone ever tried keeping a dog as an alarm system?
Ellen
hi! I’ve recently started on the omnipod and as much as I love it I’ve been finding I’m not feeling myself dropping low very often
If I do drop I either don’t feel it or I don’t feel it until I’m incredibly low
Did anyone else feel this when they changed pumps? Any tips?
Thanks!
Hi all,
My wife has Type 1 diabetes (disgnosed 2.5 years ago in her 30s) and when she has a hypo her pupils are different sizes. She also has hypo unawareness so relies on me to tell her when she needs to eat/take action.
Yesterday she very obviously had the issue with her pupils being...
Hi
I am type 1 for 21 years and a pumper for 5 years. I also have Gastroparesis, Autonomic & Peripheral Neuropathy and CFS.
I was diagnosed with Gastroenteritis 10 days ago. Received treatment at hospital for rehydration and to bring bloods back up (could not keep anything down so was...
Hi, so I’ve had T1 for about 2 weeks now and I’ve finally got my blood sugars lower today (4.7 from an average of about 16).
I felt so awful though, I was shakey and dizzy and fuzzy. Has anyone else experienced this when they get their BG to normal levels?
hey All lovely people, I have a maybe stupid question. the last fortnight I have most of the days been eating under 30 grams of carbs daily, and also taken metformin, my question is about some nighty experience twice during this period, in the middle of the night I almost wake up but am too...
