    After effects of a hypo

Hi all, Just wanting a bit of advice and to hear if anyone has had a similar experience as me. On Friday I had a 2 hour hypo. Started around 6am and didn't hear pump alarm until 7.30 (which is a separate issue). I spent the day being completely out of it and sleeping, but the main issue is my...

    Unusual hypo.

On the 8th of July, while on a shift, I was caught by a minor hypo. The strange thing about it was the remarkable persistance in trying to correct it. Normally I am recovered with 10-15 minutes, but this lasted over half an hour! I was a particularly severe event, but it really unraveled me for...

    Bolusing & hypos

Hi guys! I've been put on a basal/bolus regime of Lantus and Apidra. I take 20 units of Lantus a day. I've found that bolusing for all three meals had me running really low/going into hypo between meals, so instead I have started just bolusing for my evening meal. So far, my numbers are all...

    First hypo

I'm relatively new type one and also 26 weeks pregnant. On insulin since March. I just had my first hypo. My question is why did I have one? It was around 5 pm. I had lunch tested before, gave insulin and tested again after all results were normal. Then on my way home from work 3-4 hours later...

Hey guys, Sorry to bother you again with my struggles... Just wondering if anyone lived a similar situation. So since 3 days I have a drastic change in my body's response to insulin; I became MUCH more sensitive, my insulin apparently being 500% stronger?? I started having constantly big and...

    Serious hypo!

This morning, around 5:30am, while walking to work I had a very severe hypo. This was scary as I started hallucinating, I started to wonder where I was. I would see a familiar landmark and remember where I was going, then promptly lose my directions again. I noticed that I was weaving and...

Pumps and hypo-anxiety - grateful for thoughts

Hi all, I'd be really interested to hear any thoughts from people who used to take insulin injections, who have moved to using a pump. It's something I'm considering, after having taken injections for 15 years - I've spoken with my diabetes team, who are excellent, and have learned much about...

    Reduced sugar in Lucozade

Hi, My son has always treated his hypos by drinking Lucozade and has his down to a fine art of the quantity needed. The sugar content has recently been reduced so he would need to drink about 3x as much to get the same result. Anyone else had the same problem or got any reasonably priced, easy...

    Help on Holiday!

Hello, I am currently on my first holiday abroad since diagnosis and have been very surprised by my blood sugar readings. I understand that the heat makes you more sensitive to insulin but I have spent most of my day on the verge of a hypo or actually having a hypo! I have had to check my...

    Some noob questions

Hi all. I'm still relitively new to insulin and have a few nooby questions. 1) for the ladies. Can insulin mess with menstruation? I missed a period (definitely not pregnant) this month. Which is very unusual for me. Has anyone else had this? 2) night time hypos Today I had my first...

    A seriously bad day!

I tested this morning, and got a reading of around 7. After a while I felt something was wrong, drowsiness and confusion. So I checked with a backup meter and got a reading of 16.8! I took a dose of insulin which I raised by 8 units to get the BGL back on par. The mistake I made was to not have...

Blood sugar won't stay up! (T1)

Pretty much as it says on the tin. 23 Y/O T1. On Levemir & Novorapid injections. Injected just before dinner when BM was 12.6. Blood sugar rapidly dropped from 7.1 an hour after dinner to 2.6. I took glucose as per usual, it rose again. Now it's fallen to 3.5 :-( Does this happen to anyone...

    Morning shock.

I have a nasty cold and was expecting high BG levels. Sure enough, in the night I woke up and it was 7.6, but then when I got up in the morning it was only 2.6! Was feeling dreadful. Fortunately my son was able to quickly get me some juice. I have never had such a low result before.

Did I accidentally inject Lantus into a vein

Hi everyone. So yesterday a weird thing happened. I measured my BG before going to bed (6.2 mmol), injected myself with 9 units of lantus, had a little snack (a slice of bread) and wanted to go to bed.
